"Good insight, Arthur," says Swiftlittle. "We halflings are better at word games than we are at items, it seems. Hmmm, and I agree (for now) that we need to hold onto them."

"Hang on to them," Raleigh agrees, skeptical as well though not having made the connection herself until Arthur did. "They may prove useful at a later time."

Arthur nods to the two of them, takes a few moments to add the newest path to his paper, and then says, "Lets head back and take another route. I'd like to get at least one more area looked at before we leave, preferably two." He seems to be, oddly enough, a bit curious what else they might find. Beyond that, he was also feeling an odd tension in the air, as if time was a commodity they did not have. Whatever the reason his voice carried a certain nervous energy to it as he pocketed his poor imitation of a map.

As usual, Swiftlittle will check the door for traps, listen at the door, and then slowly try the door (or pick it open). Since there are so many variables, I'll let you roll for him.

The party looks through the northern and western doors. To the north the corridor ends in a smoke damaged sign labeled "Infirmary." To the west the corridor ends in a smoke damaged sign labeled "Warden." There are, as is indicated on the map, lots of other doors.

Each square is 10', not the usual 5'.

I had waited to see if anyone else wanted to choose a door, but...

Raleigh goes to the door marked 'Infirmary'.

Swiftlittle checks and then opens the door.

Several moldy cots lay strewn around this room, while
doors to smaller, more private sleeping cells hang askew
to the west. Judging from the rest of this room’s decor,
this must have once been the prison’s infirmary.

There is enough junk lying around that there could be items of value in the room. However, as the party begins to search an incorporeal, nearly skeletal and definitively terrifying apparition rises in the center of the room.

Switlittle saved. Whew. That said, please look at his saving throw bonuses under the last "Protective Item" under Armor and such. He gets a total +4 bonus on top of his +2 Will against fear effects ... so he gets +6 vs fear effects total.

"That wasn't so bad," says Swiftlittle, perhaps foolishly. "If it shows again, Arthur won't be a liability to himself and us by panicking, so his running off - for now - may actually save him and damn us. Raleigh, do you know what kind of spook that is? Meanwhile, keep an eye out for danger while I toss this room. That thing may show again, so be ready."

Swiftlittle does a check of the room ... obvious stuff shouldn't need a roll, but a quick check for anything much more secreted.

Swiftlittle perceives that the room looks promising in terms of loot. There could be old medical supplies mixed in with the considerable wreckage. Less promising is an old, rusty scalpal - which levitates up to halfling eye level and then flies through the air at him.
