PTTA Battlefest: Mew Arena

“Welcome to the Mew Arena folks! I am your main MC, Bill! Today is the beginning of one lucky trainer’s final path to victory! Who will it be? I won’t keep you in suspense any longer! Let’s get started with the first match of the Tournament!”

The crowd roars once more, the ground shaking from the sheer volume. “Our first match is going to be the battle of the ages. Young Timmy Turner and his partner Roxanne the Rock leader from Rustboro City versus the tactical genius Steven Tatics and his partner Blue, current leader of Kanto’s own Vermillion City! Let’s get the battle underway!”

The metal cover over the arena slides away revealing a grassy field cut in half by a pool of water. On each corner of the arena is a platform, each trainer being directed at one. After stepping on the platform, railing pops up surrounding you and the top of the platform lifts off from the rest. A headset appears on a drawer, apparently to communicate with your partner secretly as well as to broadcast your voice during the battle. You are instructed to release your first mon on the corner your platform started at. After releasing your mon, the platform zips upwards. It seems to go wherever you like to over the field.

Any feature that has a distance can ignore it. Post your intro post and the battle will officially begin. Any talking to your partner should be in italics otherwise it will be broadcast to the entire stadium. Lines 12 through 18 are water. All mon use surface speed on it (if they have one) and its 5m deep.

Blue, make them come to us. Rocks don't swim well, if you catch my drift. If Arcanine can buff, do that and move closer to the pond. We'll keep them on their side.

Steven leans heavily on his cane, waving at the crowd without looking at them. The cheers were nice, but he wasn't here for cheers, he was here for wins. He looks over the field, specifically the pond. If he could contain the other Pokemon on their half of the pond, they could just blast from range all day. The Probopass could float over the pond, but it could still be blasted. Steven hits his cane twice against the platform, grinning widely. Battles made him feel like a younger man, one who was only 60.

"And let the games begin."

Timmy releases a large purple balloon that Steven identifies as a Drifblim. Roxanne releases a spherical rock that Steven also identifies as a Golem. Blue releases his Arcanine.

Both Timmy and Roxanne start jeering Tzu and Arcanine and they get freaked out a little. Blue retailiates by reaffirming Arcanine with words of encouragment.

Timmy and Roxane used Intimidate on Tzu and Arcanine. Blue used Attack Stat Boost to give Arcanine Attack Boost (like Speed Boost but for Attack). Tzu is at -1 Attack Combat Stage. Steven's turn.

Steven grins. Golem would go down easy.

"Alright Tzu, let's teach these younglings how to play. Plan Heatwave, initiate."

Tzu roars at the sky, forcing the sun to turn harsh, the weather vitalizing the creature, making him faster. He then grows, pulling in the sun's energy.

Steven looks over the field as he does so as well as the competition.

Acranine! Gaurd the waterfront, don't let them get over. Arcanine dashes to the water line and glares menancingly at the Golem.

"Floaty! Clear the air!" The Drifblim spins rapidly around, whipping up wind. The sun dies down.

"Spheroid! Go under now." The Golem dissapears below the ground and is lost.

Both Timmy and Roxane look somewhat concerned about there predicament but haven't given up. Blue gives more words of encouragement to Arcanine.

Arcanine used Intimidate. Golem at -2 Attack. Drifblim used Defog. wheather is clear, hindering terrain is nullified, modifiers to AC (Positive and negative) are nullified, coats, hazards and walls are destroyed. Lasts for 6 rounds. Blue used SAtk Boost on Arcanine and has no stat changes.
You remember that a similar map was used before. Some one used a burrowing pokemon to navigate under the water.
Timmy likes to win by outlasting his opponents.

Arcanine! After the Drifblim. Arcanine backs up slightly, his hind legs going in the water. His body wreathes in flames, sending off heat shimmers. He dashes forward and collides with the Drifblim, the flames colliding with extra force. The ballon goes flying backwards from the hit, but Arcanine winces at the recoil.

Sorry about the delay folks. Minor techinical issue. The battle has gone underway and Timmy has countered Steven's strategy to set up a weather effect. But blue counters with a strong Flare Blitz attack! It was all 'woosh!' Go Arcanine! Bruno we are supposed to stay neutral. Ya, ya, whatever glasses.

"Floaty, get out of there and Haze it up!" Floaty floats directly upwards and then over a bit. It then pumps out a large opaque cloud that covers the arena.

Seems Floaty has used Haze. That means all stat changes are nullified for a short time.

"If you have strategy problems, I feel bad for you gramps, I've got 99 problems but weather ain't one. And neither is stat debuffs sucka!" Timmy sticks his tongue out mockingly at Steven.

"Spheroid. Execute strategum Alpha-6." There is a short pause the ground starts to tremble and large cracks appear in the ground near the pool reaching Arcanine. Arcanine howls in pain, falling over unconcious.

I know that move! It was Earthquake! HOO YA! Yes, Bruno. It was also a Ground type move, doing super effective damage against Arcanine. Seems he couldn't stand against the type advantage.

Grrr, who should I send out next Steven? as he returns Arcanine.

Also, perception to figure the origin of Earthquake.

Go with the Tyranitar. He'll be our best shot at taking down the Driftblim. No Sandstorm yet though. Steven says, a sour grin on his face.

Tyranitar! Yes, lets see some Sandstorm action! It seems Blue is forgoing activating Tyranitar's Sand Stream ability for the moment.

Roxanne and Timmy's mouths are moving but no sound comes over the speakers. They both nod. Apperently they were planning their next attack.
Tyaranitar is slow. They will probably get moves in before he can. And due to that Haze, I can't do anything useful right now. I hate waiting.

"Tzu! Quick strike, go!"

Tzu dashes across the field, faster than he should be able to, then releases a sphere of green energy at the Golem.

That was awesome! But why isn't Roxanne returning Spheroid? Sphereoid has the ability Sturdy. If he is knocked from full health to fainting, he survives with just a smidge of HP left.

Roxanne and Timmy speak together. "Floaty, burn the Tyranitar" "Spheriod. Attack plan Omega."

The ballon fires purple balls of flame at Tyranitar, singing its rocky flesh. The area that Steven had realized was were the Golem was, suddenly explodes in a massive force. Tzu and Floaty are caught in the blast but Floaty seems to ignore it. Tzu is hit very hard but isn't down quite yet.

Explosion! Boom! YES! Wonderful strategum but it seemed to have fallen short. Tzu is still standing, if just barely.

Tyranitar is Burned. Effectivly -2 attack (ignores Defog. Burn conditnion is not real stat drop, check it if you feel I'm making stuff up. Also Tzu has lost 133 damage after defences.

Tzu is alright, lets get them back! Tyranitar, Stone Edge!" Tyranitar starts forward, and slams his tail into the ground, bits of rock shooting at Floaty, hitthing him hard. The ballon deflates and falls to the ground.

It seems the match is mostly tied up. Tzu is holding in there, Blue , Roxane and Timmy are all down one pokemon.

Roxanne releases a large grey bird, and a fat thing. Steven identifies them as Aerodactyl and Hariyama.

That's a big bird!

[Arcran]

As the smoke clears a blue energy shield can be seen around Tzu, completely negating the attack. The Pokemon just chortles.

"Nice try Roxanne. Next time though, make sure I don't have Protect before making your 'mon remove itself, alright? It's alright, it's a rookie mistake."

Alright Blue, new plan. Get the hell away from the Hariyama. I'll give the Aerodactly some trouble.

"Tzu, quick! Give the Aerodactly hell!"

The Pokemon obliges, releasing a cloud of purple spores at the Aerodactly.

Excellent move on Steven's part. Put pressure on Roxanne. Her heavy hitter won't last very long with that poison eating at it. Feh. Status are boring. They take too long and take away from the action!

"Rookie mistake!? I'll show you rookie mistake! Ptera! Take him out!" The huge prehistoric bird roars loudly and rushes at Tzu. He swipes at Tzu with his wing, bisecting Tzu down the middle. Tzu tries to stay standing but falls over.

WOA YA! Tzu is down! Way to go Roxanne! Woo Hoo! That was Aerial Ace folks and it seemed to have been a critical hit! Tzu couldnt stand up to the super effective critical hit. What will Steven do next? Cry like a Togeqi thats what!

After attacking Tzu, Ptera flyes over the water and straight up. It winces. Apperently the poison is still in effect.

Tzu is fainted and if I'm not mistaken, no more "Check again" shenanigaians like Protect this time.

"Fatman! Quick, Punch that stupid rock!" The Hariyama balls up its gloved fist and slams it into Tyranitar hard. Tyranitar staggers back. "Awww I thought for sure that'd work."

Fatman tried a Bullet Punch. It was super effective but wasn't strong enough to knock Tyranitar out. Lame!

HA! You seriously thought that attack would drop my Tyranitar! HAHAHAHA! Tyranitar, Counter it!

Tryanitar spins around, throwing the momentum of Bullet Punch right back at the fat mon. Hariyama staggers back even more but seems as equally unphased by the attack as Tyranitar.

YA! Smack him right back! That was a lovely 'Counter' on Blue's part. Hehe. ...Your a nerd.

I'm back! I told you I'd be. Anywho, need a new mon, which is your shift action this round (not that you actually use those). Can be placed anywhere on the field but must be on the ground (not in or above or in the water).

Steven looks at the box at the "Cry like a Togepi" remark and calmly puts his middle finger in the air.

Alright Blue, Tzu is down. I've got this under control now. Get your Tyranitar away from the Hariyama. If all goes as planned, it'll be stuck there for a minute or two.

Steven reaches down to his belt and lobs out a Pokeball, releasing Hovah at A1.

That was a lovely Rock Slide! And it made Hovah Flinch! Well done Roxanne. Take that Steven! Ha!

Good work! Hang in there. Tyranitar, heres our chance! Show them the power of Earth! Tyranitar dashes across the field and unleashes a power spray of dirt at Hariyama. Hariyama brushes off the attack, barely scathed.

Roxanne stares futily as Ptera suffers the effects of Poison and Fire Spin.

Steven tatics are sound. It seems Ptera can't do anything stuck in the air, slowly having its health depleted. Muk you Steven and your dirty tatics! BRUNO!

The Pokemon dashes across the field, unleashing a ray of peculiar energy as it does so. It leaves the Hariyama dazed and confused.

"Fatman, finish of T-Tar!" The bulkly mon, shakes it head and has a moment of clarity and hobbles over to Tyranitar and grabs its wrists. It lifts it into the air and swings it around in circles till the 2 mon are nearly a blur. Hariyama lets go and Tyranitar goes flying out of the arena. It doesn't get back up. A literal brigade of medics rush to the slumped form of Tyranitar and start tending to it immidiatly. Theres a slight delay before the announcers speak. A bit of a scare there. Tryranitar is alive. But he is definatly out of the fight. Oak's voice is very somber. Bruno apperently has nothing to say.

Meanwhile, Aerodactly tries its best to break free and rid itself of the poisoned powder but fails to do either. Both effects take thier toll.

Who's next? Steven can tell Blue is on the verge of tears. Despite his outward appearence, he does care for his pokemon.

Machamp. He cam go toe-to-toe with Hariyama, and can hurt Roxanne badly.

"Hovah! Set up!"

The Pokemon draws out a little of its own life, creating a protective shield. It then plans, making its attacks more powerful them dashes across, hopefully out of the Hariyama's range.

Machamp! Cross Chop! Blue had become all business. Machamp appears a short distance from Hariyama and charges, its 4 arms in an X pattern. Machamp connects with Hariyama and snaps its arms, slamming Hariyama backwards. Hariyama stays up but looks seriously injured. "Fatman, Counter!" Hariyama tries to redirect the hit back but looses its balance and falls hard. It doesn't get back up.

Fatman is down... Confusion hit at just the wrong time.

"Really-Fatman! Go!" A giant blue thing pops up on the far end of the arena, that Steven identified as a Wailord.

Aerodactly continues to suffer in the skies, seeminlgy ignored.

"Seems like your on the defensive Steven! Blue, your Machamps a weakling!" "Indeed. He can't even take down my Rock types!" Roxanne and Timmy continue to jeer Machamp, demoralizing him. Shut up! Machamp your muking awesome!
