so over the weekend I went to a a big wargames convention, and wrote a report on my blog about it (link in sig if y'all care). This has proved very popular (tens of thousands of hits a day vs a hundred or so). Problem is that when I went I was probably looking a bit androgynous, but definitely on the masculine side.
Now the popularity of the article has drawn some others there to comment on it on another forum I frequent... where I'm known as female. If just one person comes on and says "hey, I saw you and...", well, yeah*.
I think I've deflected stuff but possibly being outed in a public space has thrown me a bit (a couple of people there know I'm trans, but yeah...).

Gay Music:
I'd agree that it's just more stereotypical of gay people, rather than anything else. Add Bjork to the list, which I think would be one of the few that both "gay music" (gay people listen) and "gay music" (non-heteronormative band)?

Asexual music as simply non-sexual doesn't sound quite right, because there's nothing to specify it from religious bands, anti-religious bands, political bands, no-lyrics-just-electronics bands, instrumental bands, etc.

So, apparently I really weird people out when I talk about my past relationships. I got to chatting with a work friend about my girlfriend, and I dropped a comparison to my ex-boyfriend in and he did a complete double take. And this sort of thing has relatively frequently happened, as when I asked out a friend and he had a couple minutes of mental clicking when I sympathized on the difficulty of asking out women a couple weeks later. It seems like a lot of people tend to go "yeah, I kind of knew bi people existed, but I didn't think they were REAL..."

And my parents don't really seem to get it either, though they remain awesome supportive people. Then again, I'm not sure I get it with my "pendulum swings" and difficulty interacting with other people in a sexual way, so I can't really fault them.

On 'gay' music: I always thought it was categorized as such becuase it was quite popular in the gay scene (for the same apparent reason why musicals are categorized as gay). Although some videoclips are quite telling as such (ar at leastare thought of telling as such, *cough*O-zone with Dragostei din tei, and Village people with Y.M.C.A.*cough*). i wonder if the categorization has gotten close to a derogatory meaning, I'm never quite clear on the subject
