Feeling true terror for the first time in a long time, Maia scrambles frantically at the controls of the small craft. "AHHHHHHH!"

In a near panic, Maia grabs hold of something that looks like it could help.

After giving it a good solid yank, one of the sails comes loose, and starts to collapse down on itself. Now instead of a smooth glide, you are in a more... interesting trajectory.

Maia moves whatever lever she just pulled back to its original position.

"Looks like a little ship to me, Barty." Melanie replies, her young face weary and drained. "If this place didn't drain me like it did I could go up and try to help them, as it is though..." Her lips quiver slightly in a sad frown. "I'm not much use I'm afraid."

So, apparently, my costume ability to fly doesn't function so Melanie is feeling somewhat useless.

The sail goes back up, but the wind can't catch it right anymore.

A brief explantion of the controls. (now that we are on the topic.)

There are four levers, three wheels, two sails, and a smallish balloon. Maia just pulled the leftmost lever. You do not have any idea what any of thee things do, since you aren't mechanically inclined.

One last note. You don't have enough time to try everything out. Maybe one or two more levers. You may roll a 1d20 with no modifier for sheer dumb luck.

Grym looks up into the sky, her tail hooked behind her. "Little ships mean big ships aren't far behind. Maybe we just found our way out of this godless land. But if they ain't here to help, I want you to stay behind me Mel."

Melanie pouts prettily at Grym. "Just because I can't fly doesn't mean I can't protect myself, Grym." She says, but she does move behind her surrogate, quasi-self-taken, sister.

"Sweet light above,
Your maiden calls.
Answer my plea.
And your love shall shine through me."

She recites the words softly, barely at the edge of hearing, but the flash of white light that follows is quite clearly visible - even with the aura of the place damping it - as soft radiance soaks into her clothing, transforming it into something far more durable.

"Are we under attack again?" Bellamy clambers into Bruce's saddle and launches into the air. "We'll take a closer look," he yells behind him as the dire bat tries to gain some height.

He looks around, observing his surroundings. Looking for hiding spots, choke point, that sort of thing.

"Well, I'm not going to be much use if we are. I'm not the flying type. Just stay alert."

As the little craft drops away from The Lady's Gambit and into the wide blue aether, Kieran's heart skips a beat.

As it wobbles, then suddenly drops, it's all he can do to maintain his composure.

Lady have mercy!

The most desperate prayer in the cult of the Lady, for few would dare call upon what passes for the aether's mercy.

'Lookouts! Report!'

Lynn and Arryl sick, Rok missing, and Maia and Erin on a swift drop tae the ground. Lady, what have I done?

Kieran looks to check that Aimari is by his side, then looks out over the dead land once more.

Erin grabs the second lever from the right and pulls it.

With a sharp snap, the sail catches the wind. The craft slows down, but your decent does not level off.

"Well, that's better I guess. Any ideas on what we need to do to get this going the right way Maia?"

We have 1 more level, and the 'Don't ever pull that lever' lever. Erin tries to remember anything he can that the engineer said while he tried to help him put this together, hopefully something that would be helpful.

With a crash, the scout ship digs a furrow into the ground as it slides to a halt.

Grym picks herself off the ground, her tail is bristled and her ears are flattened against the top of her head. She lets out a loud hiss directed towards what's left of the small ship.

She's hurt, but still doing okay. She still has 23 hp of the original 36. So if someone is able to heal her before anything major comes up, it would be appriecated.

He takes a quick look around, trying to get his bearings. He continues to patch up Larry in the mean time.

I got real lucky with my rolls. And taking the toughness feat helps a little. And by your post I take it you're taking on the role of "captain" of our little rag tag group? Not that I mind, Grym's the fighter, just point her in the right place and away she goes.

He seems a little flustered. His mind seems to be going the place where all men's minds go to when thinking about women licking themselves. He shakes his head to snap out of it, and returns to tending to Larry. "Good. How is your young ward?"

He's not so much a captain type so much as he's had experience working as a mercenary. While he's up for the leadership role, he's more likely to try and just keep every together out off habit. Also, Gentleman's Agreement as a mercenary: he'll watch your back and he expects you to watch his.

"I'm fine. But there are people in the little boat! What about them!" And, without a care for her own safety, Melanie darts forward towards the two within the small craft.

Aimari looks down at the surface silently, wondering what those two enterprising foreigners had gotten themselves into now. This was why she hadn't volunteered to go on that strange vessel in the first place, especially without instruction as to how it functioned.

Well, nothing to do now but watch and wait.

Bellamy lands near the crash site and leaps from the saddle, his hat falling off as he lands, "Bruce, keep guard," he tells the dire bat, "they look like they were trying to escape from that ship above us. We could be attacked at any moment.

Turning to the victims of the crash he calls out, "Is anyone hurt?" If anyone is injured he singles out whoever has the worst wounds and immediately cures them. Standard triage says that this would be anyone unconscious rather than the person making the most fuss but after that anyone who is bleeding heavily.
