This Blu-ray is rich with fascinating looks into both the creation of the show and into the imagined world of George R. R. Martin's Westeros. "Creating the Battle of Blackwater Bay" is a must-see for those interested in the technical aspects of the creation of film and television. The commentaries provide great insight into the production of the series with details about the structure the story, the choices that Weiss and Benioff made that differ from the novel and why certain sequences needed to be cut.

The anecdotal stories are often equally entertaining, though it should be noted that frequently when the actors are providing the commentary they get caught in a loop of repeating the phrase "he or she is amazing" about their cast-mates until they get to the scenes they are actually a part of. It's true that each member of the cast in remarkable, but that said, those portions of the commentaries tend to be slightly less revelatory.
