Coreal hesistates, a little thrown off by the sudden declaration from Aela. "Um, that's very nice, dear..."

"Eh, only takes a second to answer. Penelope, goddess of Adaptability blessed his family line."

"Ah, excellent! I'm glad to hear it." Coreal smiles, genuinely pleased to meet the Captain. "Now, I understand you ordered them to shut us all up in here. While I understand this - it can be dangerous for civilians out there, after all - Sheena here has been unable to find her family, and we think they (including younglings) are outside. As the commanding officer here, we were hoping to consult you on our decision to leave on an investigative mission to find them. Your guards were less than helpful, I'm afraid, hence calling on you.

What is your decision? Unless you have a superior plan I think we are quite commited to leaving, after all, the safety of these children is paramount. We seem to be more than capable of looking after ourselves, however, I was wandering if you would be willing to accompany us? Although only if your duties here permit, of course."

"Yes, I think I could accompany you. We can't have any younglings be left out there."

"Captain, I'm glad you're here. Sheena's children are still outside. A single guard left to look for them, but there's little chance that he'll actually find them by himself, and these guards won't allow us to go look for them."

Maylene takes a breath.

"My apologies for threatening the guards. I'm sure they're doing their job, but if things are so dire that everyone is sent down here, then time is all the more important in finding her children."

"Most of us here are very capable, more than capable enough to handle any little things that might happen out there."

"S'not a problem. Sometimes they're utter buffoons." She shoots a glare at them.

"...Okay." She pauses. "Just curious, did any of you see a silver haired elf anywhere?"

"Yes, he was just here." Coreal replies. "I'm afraid he was able to scare your guards fairly easily into letting him just by making himself glow. Spewed some rubbish about deadly magic, your men looked ready to soil themselves.." she sighs. "Was he important?"

"Anyway, delighted to have you along. Shall we get moving, ladies and gentlem- oh, we are all ladies. What a surprising delight!"

With that, Coreal clip-clops imperiously towards the exit.

Right through the big eye it has in the middle. That was only a month befo...before.. She suddenly goes very quiet, the smile gone.

"Why do you think I said it was a delight?" Coreal smirked.

"I can get around on my own safely and keep others safe too, but I will need the assistance of someone else to get a lot done. So, after you."

Maylene turns to the captain.

"I believe that there were some children spotted running into the Hearthhome Inn's cellar, and I imagine that Sheena might also want to check their home."

She gestures for the captain to lead the way.

"Inn's closer." She charges down a street to the left. They reach the inn, and she heads down into the cellar.

Maylene looks at the others to see if they're coming too, gestures for Anomander to come along and calls for Goth.

As they reach the Inn she shakes her head at the guard captain and her lack of prep. Probably wouldn't last long a an adventurer off she didn't prep.

"Anomander, a bit of buffing, darling, for us both."

Anomander began casting some spells on them both.

Aela begins to hurry after them but turns around to Sheena and calls out

Are you coming Sheena? We're going to look for your family

Coreal places her helmet upon her head, and gallops out after the Captain.

When she reaches the stairs, she shakes out her cloak. It is old, and ragged, and covered in cobwebs. Somehow she manages to canter down the stairs as easily as normal ground, and reaches the cellar. She looks around.
"Captain?" she gingerely calls out.

Aela begins to hurry after them but turns around to Sheena and calls out

Are you coming Sheena? We're going to look for your family

Completely confused by the fast pace things are developing in Sheena just nods, following the others. When they turn towards the inn she shortly looks the other way, then shrugs and keeps pace with the others.

As they go down into the cellar a pair of dangerous looking combat knives appear in her hands as she scans the area for any form of danger. All her confusion and indecision seem to be gone, replaced by determination.

As Sheena nods, Aela turns around and follows the others to the inn. Seeing Maylene casting some spells

Val follows along as well, the elemental she called forth slinking back into the ground and disappearing entirely after a few moments. She will join the others to the inn, but won't be heading down with them unless there are obvious signs of combat.

"Better safe than sorry. The city is in danger, people get evacuated. There must be a reason, right?"

"I thought everyone was evacuated because the front was near" Aela says placing a hand on one wall as she descends

When you got down there, the captain's sword was floating out next to her, and she was silently scanning the place with her eyes. "Oh, goddess." She murmured shaking her head.

There are rather obvious footprints across the floor into a side room. A purple hair ribbon lies discarded on the floor. It's also dead silent.

"Maria~" The captain calls in a sing-song voice. Suddenly a little elven girl with light silver hair bolts out of the side room and at the captain.

The Haste and Feather Fall spells settle over Maylene and she pulls a wand into her hand.

"Anomander, you've got my back, Goth you stay out here and watch for anyone that isn't part of our little group here. If you see anyone, let me know. If anyone attacks you, you may counter, but only physically until I say otherwise."

A tiny figure leaps from the folds of Anomander's cloak and settles down on the robed form of Goth as it steps from around the corner of the Inn.

Following the others, Maylene goes down the steps, grinning slightly at the incongruous sight of a Centaur nimbly handling stairs.

As she reaches the bottom she hears the relieved voice of the captain calling out "Maria," and feels a rush of relief that at least one has been found so easily.

She smiles at Sheena's back. At least for now, families won't be ripped apart.

Coreal is relieved at first, then stops suddenly. "Don't be so pleased yet, Maylene - this child is not Sheena's."

She draws up beside the Captain. "How did you know the child's name, just from the ribbon? Is she related to the silver-haired elf from earlier? There are things you aren't telling us."

Upon seeing the little elf girl Aela puts a hand to her mouth and whispers

She approaches the girl and squats down smiling, and says softly in elven

Coreal's eyes widen in shock, and she stumbles back a few steps. "Y-your own?" she stammers. "Oh my goodness, m-my apologies, how awful of me. I did not mean to accuse you of such, I-"
She stops suddenly, and her guilty horror turns to anger. "How DARE the men under your command cause such an affront? Who knows what could have happened to her!

We must do a full sweep of the city at once, and make sure nobody else is left."
