Re: Civ 5 mutliplayer GMR 14 Beyond a baker's dozen
Also since we had one player mention that if they don't like their randomly generated Civ, they'd quit immediately, and another player mentioned that if they were in a hopeless situation (which might possibly include being certain civs)
I figure I'll make a thread in the dice roll thread, link it here, and I'd roll 13 dice to determine civs, so that we're not stuck with AI on turn 1.
Any issues?Avatar by Honest Tiefling

Re: Civ 5 mutliplayer GMR 14 Beyond a baker's dozen
I'm cool with that, but I'd limit it to 1 re-roll.
Also, we aren't using DLC civs as per usual, right? So Much for the Glory of Rome, a Crusader Kings 2 Let's Play

Re: Civ 5 mutliplayer GMR 14 Beyond a baker's dozen
No dlc civs? That makes me a sad panda but in a game this large I gues it makes sense since someone won't have them all.

Re: Civ 5 mutliplayer GMR 14 Beyond a baker's dozen
Can you play against DLC civs without owning them?
If yes, I propose a free re-roll for anyone unlucky enough to not have access to the civ they roll, otherwise I guess we either play without dlc or need a confirmation from everyone based on the civs rolled. In either case, I'm fine with using the roller and giving everyone a single re-roll.

You cannot play against DLC civs without owning them, to my knowledge.

Do you have the smaller DLC packs of specific civilizations, though? Like Korea?

Re: Civ 5 mutliplayer GMR 14 Beyond a baker's dozen
I got all DLC. Though given the amount of people involved it'd probably be best if anyone who doesn't have all DLC speaks up, instead of having all of us pipe in.

Re: Civ 5 mutliplayer GMR 14 Beyond a baker's dozen
Did we decide what map we were using? Because that's going to be fairly relevant to a number of these decisions.

I'm fine with Korea if everyone has the DLC for it. No objection to rerolling if that's not the case, though.

Re: Civ 5 mutliplayer GMR 14 Beyond a baker's dozen
Ah, still on pseudo-europe then.
In that case before you get on to the re-rolls you might want to consider that Indonesia and Spain will typically be playing as if they didn't have a power at all (the map typically only spawns two natural wonders and does not have much in the way of 'off-continent' land). It's got a fair amount of coast and water, enough where Denmark and Polynesia can actually function, but not always the sort of coast Carthage, and to an extent Venice, depend on for decent start locations (they're more still more likely to get it than not, but by the sort of margin you'd see on multi-continent maps).

Re: Civ 5 mutliplayer GMR 14 Beyond a baker's dozen
On one hand, drawing a top-tier civ like Poland is probably going to net me a good start to the game.
On the other hand, drawing a top-tier civ like Poland is probably going to paint a giant bulls-eye on me.
What to do...

Re: Civ 5 mutliplayer GMR 14 Beyond a baker's dozen
You know, the more other people are re-rolling the more tempted I am to do so as well, just to render the first round of rolls completely pointless
Also because it puts Carthage back as an option for everyone else, and I get the distinct impression that's a bullet none of the people re-rolling want in the chamber

I have all DLC and won't take my re-roll for now, but that will ultimately depend upon the map we end up with.

I'm good with whatever. My lack of knowledge for each civ is equally distributed.
