Opening Crawl.

Four freighters drop out of hyperspace as they prepare the final sublight leg of their run. They fly in a line formation, their grey hulls a stark contrast to the inky blackness of space.

Prexia Sector Control, this is Freighter Alpha One, checking in at system edge.

Copy, Alpha One. Proceed on predetermined route.

The freighter turn, falling in to position as they clear the dust cloud at the edge of the system.

Suddenly, ten, sixteen, twenty starfighters pop out of lightspeed directly in front of the freighters. They waste no time at all, and open fire before the freighters can raise their shields. Fires burn scarlet into open space before being choked out by vacuum. The fight, if you could call it that is over before the first minute elapses. Three more vessels, light freighters, smaller than the ones that make up the convoy, drop out of lightspeed, and zoom toward the powered down freighters. The pilots barely slow down before the umbilicals attached to the fronts of their ships make contact with the victims.

As the Republic forces finally arrive on the scene, the pirates are gone.

Prexia is a dump.

Well, not really, but it sure ain't Coruscant. Hell, Taris, as much as is left of Taris anyway, is probably better than this dump.

It still beats Nar Shadda though.

Vidscreens, the ones displaying all the ads for the main urban center of the planet, blip as the price for the bounty on the Oorlan Raiders goes up again. 20k for info, 50 for one of the pirates, and 150 if you can prove you took them out. That is a lot of credits, but no one is biting. no body knows who the pirates are, where they're based, or why they are striking out here, at irregular shipments of substandard goods.

The emotionless black of a t-visor briefly lifted to survey the rise in bounty price that flickered across the screens overhead with a sort of detached coldness that had long ago become a trademark of her people. Yet the hike only served to garner the individual's interest for a few scant moments before they were once more studying the information on the datapad they held in their slim armored fingers. They made no move to step foot out of the middle of the busy urban center in which they stood out like a sore thumb. Instead they remained waiting patiently. After all this had been where they'd been instructed to make contact with the jedi for their new post and standing out would simply allow the force user to find them that much easier.

Yet if being raised to hunt them had taught Rani nothing it was that jedi for all their wisdom had a terrible habit of overlooking the obvious. But, if only this once, the mandalorian had no real wish to be overlooked. Not that such a thing was really posing a problem. Even at a mere 1.6 meters Rani cut an imposing figure armored from head to toe, with even her head tails wrapped in a protective fibermesh, and armed to the teeth. The most noticeable weapon being the rotary cannon slung almost lovingly from a set of harness hooks over her right shoulder alongside the mandalorian's jetpack. Were it not for the stark medical white of the armor and the large bright red cross plastered on each shoulder plate it would have been easy to mistake the newcomer for a warmaker rather then a medic.

Glancing at the clock on her HUD Rani quietly hoped that whoever they sent to greet her would be on time. The majority of the locals thus far had given her a wide berth, but a few humanoids she'd easily slated under 'troublemakers' had begun eyeing her speculatively the longer her presences went without immediately heralding the pain or death her people were so well known for. Passivity bred boldness and fearsome appearance or no enough time had passed in the memory of some that there were those dumb enough to want to try their hands at picking a fight with a Mandalorian.

She really didn't want her first impression made on the jedi to be her breaking some punks legs cause they decided to be stupid. While her brothers would argue that that was a marvelous first impression Rani doubted that it went along the lines of 'playing nice' that her Mandalore had advised. He had, after all, selected her because she was less inclined to snap bones unless provoked, unlike the majority of her fellows.

"Come on jetii. I thought your order was supposed to be prompt." Rani grumbled softly under her breath.

A nimble looking blond haired, Corellian guy comes tumbling into the area, his clothes smoking. He stands up and brushes himself off while smiling. "That was AWESOME!!!" He mutters out loud as he finishes putting himself out.

This Corellian is somewhat tall, but dresses like a swoop racer, including racing gloves. A lightsaber is attached to his belt, and a spacer's chest is being carried. He also is wearing an all-temperature cloak that has clearly seen better days, and an utility belt around his waist, with colorful decorations finish up his bizarre appearance.

The Corellian has blond hair, and dark skin, (Like Simon Phoenix from Demolition Man movie) with a nice leather jacket, awesome looking pants, and an extremely cheerful smile as he laughs about his recent caper.

About a thousand soft muttered curses in close to a dozen different languages flowed light water past the mandalorian's lips as they glanced up from the holopad to eye the corelian that had just entered. Corellian jedi, from the looks of the lightsaber hanging off of their belt leaving Rani to assume that this must be her promised escort. If not then at least the male might know where the hell she was supposed to be on this dump. "Oye! Jetti! Ke'pare! Jedi wait up!" The Mandalorian called out lapsing out of Mando'a back into common as the warrior once still as a statue snapped around to attention and began prowling towards him.

Realizing the appearance she must cut, Rani paused lifting the hand that wasn't holding the holopad palm up in the universal gesture of 'I mean no harm.' "Are you stationed here? I'm looking for the Republic base." She inquired with a tilt of her armored head that sent her fiberweave covered headtails shifting against her back.

TH-30 clattered through the crowd, his servos hard at work keeping him out of people's way as a couple of his arms almost absent-mindedly worked away at some gadget that had caught his eye. It could be running 3.74% faster if he adjusted it just so...but then that would cause it to overheat in time, unless the vents were extended a bit...but that through off the balance, so he just needed to remove that one useless bit of cable that could be rerouted through...

He paused, looking up from what he was working on as he heard someone calling out in Mando'a; Rani? Yes, there she was, chasing down...a Jedi? Oh, was it that time already? TH-30 briefly cursed himself for losing track of time, before click-clacking his way in that direction. He was supposed to be keeping an eye on her, just in case things went south...not that he was entirely sure what he could do against a Jedi, beyond maybe taking a few hostages with a makeshift bomb...

[Dudeons]

A huge black-furred Wookiee leans against the wall, a bowcaster and a large sword at his back. He watches the vidscreen with a stoic expression. Dangerous prey. Hard to find. They would be good hunting. He notices the Jedi and walks closer. He and the Mandalorian seemed to be on the same mission, so he stands behind her like a large furry shadow, waiting for the Jedi's response.

Jorn smiled. "I think the Republic has a base here. It's somewhere....somewhere. To be honest, I was more interested in taking a swoop out for a ride then paying attention to what or where I was supposed to be."

Jorn studies the Wookiee. "I think I was supposed to meet somebody and some Wookiee, but I have my datapad here, and maybe I got sent some instructions."

"Wookie...?" Rani trailed off, pausing as the t-visor of her helmet tilted up to examine her newly acquired shadow of muscle and fur that was currently looming over her. With the helmet on her expression was unreadable, but a slight curious tilt of the head and a respectful nod was enough to convey that the other sentients presence wasn't entirely unwelcome.

Then she once more focused on the jedi's words and before she could resist the impulse the flat of her palm had flown of to cover the eye-slot of her t-visor in exasperation. "Haar'chak Jetii! Gar ke nu vaii bah kyr! Shabla d'ikutla jetti!" She cursed so shocked and annoyed she didn't even realize she'd lapsed back into her native tongue until taking a shaky breath she sought to reign in her temper. "What do you mean you don't know where the base you're supposed to be stationed at is! Don't tell me you're lost too! Is everyone here lost?" Rani exclaimed mentally pleading with her ancestors to give her patience as she glanced between the droid, the wookie, and the jedi.

The Wookiee shakes his head. He makes no move to change his current position, sending the message that he knows more about where he is than he does. He growls under his breath.

Your datapad beeps happily at the requests for information. It comes back shortly with a message from Master Sha'anti.

We still have not received word of your arrival. Do I need to send one of my Padawans to find you and bring you back?

There is also an attached map to the Republic facility in the city.

Jorn will send a message back to the Master, and then pull up the map so he can direct the others to the Republic location.

The base, it turns out, is not too far away, and in just a few minutes walking time, you find yourselves going in through the front door.

Where you are immediately greeted by drawn blasters, scanners, and a receptionist asking for your identification.

"We hope you understand, but these are troubled times. We can't be too careful. Do you have appointments?"

Jorn saunters up to the receptionist being, and says, "Hi. My name is Jorn Kyrn and I am here to see Master Sha'anti of the Jedi Order." He hands off his ID card for verification.

Jorn will take a quick look around, get a feel of the base.

Rani couldn't stop the short snort of amusement as she caught the wookie's words. Scratch, might like, hell she practically loved the big furry walking shadow if his humor was half as good as the little quip he let out. "Rrr KaaRooow~" Rani yipped up at her ever looming shadow. Her accent was abysmal, and her words were short and clipped, but the pronunciation of Shyriiwook was apt and understandable.

"They're all helmet. No head."

At the Jedi's direction she gives a light shrug and once more glances once more up at the wookie. "Ooorrr Grrraaa Rani, Rrrrrroooorrrrr?" She asks, her introduction of herself that much clear from the light growls and yips of Shyriiwook.

"My name is Rani. I watch your six, if you watch mine."

However, as they enter the base she eyes the drawn blasters and tensed stances with a sigh. "The usual greeting I see." She mutters sizing the group up even as the jedi deals with them. Logically she felt she could probably take them, but the fun wouldn't be enough to outweigh the severe scolding she'd get along with the kick to the shebs should Mandalore find out. Thus with a sigh the Mandalorian flipped the datapad she'd been given to deliver to the Jedi master in question around for the Republic receptionist and any of the guards to see. Clear on the screen were her papers as well as the the seals of both Mandalore and the Republic Chancellor.

"Rani Uresadenn, I'm the medic on loan from Mandalore the Preserver. I'm to be stationed under the command of Master Sha'anti." She spoke identifying herself even as she took note of the hotshot jedi's name.

When Rani begins to speak, Shorryynn shows the faintest hint of a smile at hearing his native language. He answers back, his roars noticeably more subdued than a typical Wookiee's, as though he was trying to sound calm in spite of the aggressive nature of his language.

"Not many can speak my language, little armored one. I am Shorryynn, and I will certainly watch your six."

Shorryynn follows in the back as they travel to the Republic base. When asked for identification, he goes back to being silent, checking himself for some kind of identification to offer the receptionist. He pokes Rani in the back, growling at her.

"Could you tell them that I am Shorryynn and that I too am here to see Master Sha'anti?"

[Shimmer]

"The wookie's name is Shorryynn, he's also here to see Master Sha'anti." Rani explained, nodding to the wookie. Eyeing the large black furred shadow she took a subtle step sideways, settling herself next to, but not quite touching the other sentient's side. However, the subtle action and the way the mandalorian straightened, her posture relaxed, but ready, spoke volumes. It said 'He's wit me.'

Mentally sighing as they reached their destination, TH-30 shifted enough cycles from his work-in-progress commlink design to addressing the room: I am designated TH-30. My primary functions are vehicle piloting, astrogation, and the design, construction, maintenance, and repair of a wide variety of mechanical and technical technologies. Per my instructions, I am here to accompany Medic Uresadenn and lend what assistance I can in their endeavors, to the extent that my capabilities and limitations allow."

The receptionist gives you all a critical once over as she passes you each through the security checkpoint. But when she arrives at Shorryynn and Rani, she just sighs.

"One at a time please. And our translators more than adequately translate your language... Mister... Shorryynn."

Once you are all through the checkpoint, the receptionist directs you down a hallway, and through a set of doors. She instructs you to wait there.

Jorn waits patiently for whatever happens next, knowing that it should be a lot of fun...

Shorryynn leans against the wall, waiting patiently for whatever comes next.

The door slides open. In walks... a droid. Carrying a tray, laden with glasses and pitchers of water. A second droid enters, bearing a holoemitter. The droids set their respective loads on the conference table. They then exit the room, and the doors slide shut behind them.

A few minutes later, you hear muffled voices outside in the hall. As they get nearer to the hallway, one voice, a man's cuts off the other. He shouts something you can't quite make out, and a moment later, the door slides open again, this time admitting the brown-robed figure of a Jedi. Seeing that she is both a Togruta and a Jedi, you assume this is Master Sha'anti. She looks around the room, and sighs.

"Well," she begins. "I see that my newest charge still hasn't arrived. I suppose we will have to proceed without him."

[Shimmer]

Unlike the rest of the little group Rani had slid into a seat at the conference table, unhooking her rotary blaster to set it down with a gentle thud upon the table. Which is where the large deadly looking weapon lay, with the mandalorian's hand resting lightly on it even as the jedi master entered the room. Nodding in greeting to the woman Rani proceeded to pour herself a drink, sticking a straw in the water and slotting it through a small hole in her helmet to enjoy her refreshment.

Shorryynn takes a seat next to Rani, pouring himself a drink and silently waiting for the Jedi to begin.

[Lentrax]

"As you know, this system has been plagued by a band of pirates called the Oorlan Raiders."

The holoprojector comes to life, and a chart of the system is displayed. Twelve planets, and three asteroid belts rotating around the single star in the center of the image.

"Considering the timing of the attacks, and the fact that the pirates drop out of lightspeed to commence their attacks, we believe they have a remote sensor station out here," she indicates the asteroid belt that orbits the star on a 36 degree tilt compared to the galactic disc. "Our own sensors have managed to confirm this after the attack this morning. We now have an exact fix on the platform." The image changes to display one single asteroid, with an obviously artificial construct on it.

"We have one job. Taking this station and using it to track the pirates to their base."

[russdm]

Jorn speaks, "So let's come up with a plan in get in the base."

[Dudeons]

Shorryynn tosses down the glass of water, giving a short subdued growl afterwards.

This is officially dead. 10 days elapsed from me setting a scene and making an open ended statement to the next person making a post obviously intended for me to continue.
