"Yeah, I'm not too keen on wasting energy on those." Rose says, deciding to wait and see if her energy is even needed.

The noblewoman smiles and hops off her horse. "Let me handle this one!"

She moves east a bit to line up three of them (the two in the back and the one at the front) and lets out a 30 ft line of (new and improved) fire.

...Somehow, two of the zombies won initiative.

The first two zombies shambulate 30' north!


Lauren and Rose simply move back a bit to get out of everybody's way and do not deign to waste their energy.


Rialla... hurm. Dismounting is a move action (unless you succeed at a DC20 Ride check to make it a swift action, but Rialla cannot succeed at that check), and even the zombies that shambled first are just out of range, so she... readies an action to breathe on any zombies that come within 30' of her? Hopefully that is not wholly unsatisfactory for this round.


Kataun, disregarding Rialla's request to handle the situation, urges Rocinante II to trample the zombies! The elephant is well-trained in the ways of battle, and tromps gleefully upon the zombies! As the zombies have lined themselves up more or less in a line, the elephant tromps upon all five of them with only a minimum of zigging and zagging. Three of the zombies successfully punch the elephant as he passes, dealing 3, 2, and 4 damage; the other two try to punch but fail.

All of the zombies die, trampled into the road by the elephant's feet.


Lauren, Rose, Gasket, and Rialla gain 150XP each; Kataun gains nothing as this was not a sufficient challenge for him.

The zombies were equipped with nothing but the rotted, torn clothes on their backs. One of them was wearing a broad conical hat, because of course he was, but the hat is now broken because elephant.

It is only an hour or two before they approach the capital again and enter the city of Wang to seek the Carp Grandson.

"Aren't taverns the classical spot for informants to hang out at? I mean, one of the best informants in Endeesy works as a barkeep..." Rose suggests.

Kataun waves at the nearby passers by from atop the elephant indiscriminately. "Hello! Hello! Person there! Yoohoo! Excuse us! We are looking for Carp Grandson! Do you happen to know where he is, or how we might go about finding where he is?"

Wang

Kataun waves down random passersby! Some of them ignore him, some of them shake their heads, having no idea where to find the Carp Grandson, one of them briefly berates Kataun for his rudeness before moving on.

Meanwhile, the rest of the party asks passersby about an Adventurer's Guild, which it turns out Wang lacks, and good information-gathering taverns, which it turns out Wang has in plenty. They soon end up outside a tavern known as the Jade Rice Bowl -- the sign above the tavern's door is, funnily enough, a bowl of rice picked out in low-quality green and white jade.

Cheerfully heading into the tavern, Rose surveys the scene. Then she approaches the barkeep, ordering a round of whatever for herself and her team. After a moment of fitting in very well and looking natural, Rose motions for the barkeep to come closer, before asking him whether he knows where they can find a specific tracker, known as Carp Grandson. She implies, but doesn't make any explicit promises, that he may get some gold and/or customers out of the deal. They might need a place to sleep, if they end up staying around for a while, but they wouldn't choose this tavern if the barkeep isn't nice and cooperative, right?

Jade Rice Bowl Tavern

The bartender at the Jade Rice Bowl -- an attentive, reasonably pretty human woman -- produces for the party several small glasses of, like, sake or something along those lines. She ponders Rose's question, then decides answering correctly is indeed likely to be rewarding to her, because, "You're in luck: the Carp Grandson actually usually comes in here in the evenings. If you'd like to stay a few hours, maybe have some lunch, I can point him out to you when he comes in."

Excited over the news, Rose looks over at the others. "Did you here that?! Park your elephant and let's get stuffed!" Rose buys a decent meal for her and the team, and also room for a new thread. The old one was getting stuffed too!
