Re: [IC] Hunting for Treasure - a D&D5e casual game
Spoiler: NinaDespite the dim light, you manage to spot a creature in the audience chamber before the creature notices you.
Behind the high table, you see a human-sized insect-like creature hunched over an old dusty book.
The insect-creature has a body made of dense black plates, wide red eyes and four arms. A large boar rests next to him and while flipping through the book pages with one of his claw-like hands, the creature pets the boar, scratches his head and sips a beverage from a chalice all at once.
A trident lays against the wall, well in reach of the insect.
And that is not the only danger Nina sees. Amid the tapestry on the wall, you’re absolutely sure you saw something move.
Spoiler: Wolfram and SashaThe path ahead seems safe enough, there's a room down the hall, all fine and dandy.

Re: [IC] Hunting for Treasure - a D&D5e casual game
Nina does not in fact notice Sasha's blush, instead she holds a single finger up, before using her other hand to gesture to the tapestry, and then the hand that was holding the finger up to point to the creature and the boar.
~Hush little baby don't say a word. Nina commented.

Re: [IC] Hunting for Treasure - a D&D5e casual game
Noticing the boat after Nina points out the insect Gustav looks down at the boar attempting to determine if the beast will be as aggressive as other foes they have encountered.
Spoiler: OOC
Gustav is using Prime al awareness as detailed here:
You have an innate ability to communicate
with beasts, and they recognize you as a kindred spirit. Through sounds and gestures, you can communicate simple ideas to a beast as an action, and can read its basic mood and intent. You learn its emotional state, whether it is affected by magic of any sort, its short-term needs (such as food or safety), and actions you can take (if any) to persuade it to not attack.

Re: [IC] Hunting for Treasure - a D&D5e casual game
The beast is aggressive and territorial, but above all else, the boar is hungry. This hunger comes as an insatiable appetite for devouring everything in it's path.
If fed, it might calm down and even join his master in an afternoon nap.

Re: [IC] Hunting for Treasure - a D&D5e casual game
The boar eats the magical treat with a voracious chomp!
It then rushes to the wall and bites a piece of fabric causing a large rug to come tumbling down.
The rug starts flailing about as if alive! As the animated object tries to get away from the boar, the beast overpowers it and rolls around in it forming a comfortable nest to sleep in and then drifts off into slumber.
The room is secure, but the insect-humanoid is under the effect of magical sleep and should wake within 1 minute, so the party doesn’t have much time to waste in here.
The book on the table is written in a language you can’t decipher. If anyone flips through the pages, you’ll find very small runes in red ink and plenty of illustrations. Most of the text and art leads to believe they are culinary recipes. However, there is a few detailed schematics of the human anatomy.. So maybe it is part medicine manual and part cooking book.
In any case, the book is too large to fit in any of your bags, and heavy to carry without being hindered by the weight.
The chalice contains a dark green liquid with a horrible smell. The insect creature was drinking from it.
The trident seems to be mundane.
There is a door behind the high table leading to another hallway. This second hall is completely dark and the floors are wet. Mushrooms grow from the roof and a strange dripping sound can be heard in the distance.

Re: [IC] Hunting for Treasure - a D&D5e casual game
Sasha eyes the walls, seeing how sturdy they seem. She whispers Help me look around quick-I have an idea. If I cast my thunder spell, I might be able to make the room collapse, and trap those guys or crush them. Alternatively, I could enhance someone's natural charms, and we COULD just try talking. I mean, he hasn't caused any harm, has he?

Re: [IC] Hunting for Treasure - a D&D5e casual game
If the killing plan wins out I say we just slit their throats, less noise and we can come back. And perhaps we should get on with that, the boar was ready to try and tear us apart and paragons of virtue rarely live in secret wilderness lairs accompanied by fighting artwork.

Re: [IC] Hunting for Treasure - a D&D5e casual game
Very well, three to one let's press on. Says Gustav as he draws his short sword, finds a gap between the black plates and in a single motion shoves his blade through the neck. Wordlessly he turns to the others and gestures that they should continue.
