Re: Domino Quartz's Delightfully Quaint Random Banter Thread #248
So, my mom is watching my cousin's four-year-old. One of the first things he does after getting here is grab my last bottle of zero-sugar soda and run off with it so I have to chase him. I corner him in my mom's room and get it away from him, but he's hiding on the other side of the bed and a bookshelf means I can't just go around so I'm at a weird angle.
I lose my balance and fall, landing on my arm and getting stuck between the bed and the bookshelf... And then the little **** just laughs at me.I also answer to Bookmark and Shadow Claw.

Re: Domino Quartz's Delightfully Quaint Random Banter Thread #248
That's frustrating. Nice of you to pick up your brother's keys, though.
I agree with everyone saying that cats aren't outdoor animals. Cats are my favorite animals. But I learned about the common English habit of letting them out a few years ago and feel some sympathy for the anti-cat people. Cuz letting them out is bad for the birds and bad for the cats.
I have no control over what you do and don't want any. But if you get a cat, I hope you won't install a catflap.
We are so very different. I would love daily Thai food. Papaya salad, tom yum soup... I wish there were a good Thai restaurant near me.
I think that's a heretic, not a heathen.
Congrats! Did you film it yet?
Glad you are doing better. Looking forward to your announcement.
That sounds painful. Are you all right?

Coffee, at least, definitely is.
Komala Coffee, right there in the list. They technically have no effect but do give you a free supply of Poke Beans with each purchase, so in a roundabout way coffee makes your Pokemon like you more.

Spoiler: no animal evolved to be shut in a single location.
I feel sorry for all the American cats who don't have enough space.

I use braces (also known as "curly brackets") to indicate sarcasm. If there are none present, I probably believe what I am saying; should it turn out to be inaccurate trivia, please tell me rather than trying to play along with an apparent joke I don't know I'm making.

If this is a big concern, then good news! Cat leashes exist. Or you could get a different animal.
Spoiler: domesticated cats let outside wreck havok on natural fauna. You want to treat the cat the way they evolved to be? Because I note you are not in a desert. Plans to move to accommodate your cat's evolutionary line, i take it?

Oh no, if only UK wildlife was used to similarly sized wildcats and had been for thousands of years!
Oh wait, the Scottish Wildcat used to roam all over the island. In fact the greatest threat domestic cats introduce is interbreeding so much the Scottish Wildcat disappears.

Re: Domino Quartz's Delightfully Quaint Random Banter Thread #248
You know, that's a good point. I was looking at this from an American-centric viewpoint. So let's go to the Brits!
British zoological authorities make the same claims you do but lack any data to support such claims.
But that's just an argument. What about actual findings, like "A study published in April [2022] estimated that UK cats kill 160 to 270 million animals annually, a quarter of them birds. The real figure is likely to be even higher, as the study used the 2011 pet cat population of 9.5 million; it is now closer to 12 million, boosted by the pandemic pet craze. Seen alongside drops in bird numbers across the EU and the UK, it is “quite alarming”, says lead author and cat ecologist Tara Pirie from the University of Reading"?
Better?

Re: Domino Quartz's Delightfully Quaint Random Banter Thread #248
Were there ever more than 10 millions wildcats at any point? Also, sometimes it makes sense to adapt our behavior to changes in our environment. Even if the wildlife could at the time accomodate a few millions predators, it doesn't mean it wouldn't be a threat to critically endangered species now. Even if they are other, more relevant reasons for the decline of their populations, we have to act on what levers are available.
Biology is complicated and I'd rather get my data from professionals who studied the subject than from my gut feeling. I won't trust the damn thing that has been giving me digestive disorders for years.Last edited by Coppercloud; 2024-03-12 at 08:27 PM.

Parts of me that didn't even get hurt yesterday are now sore.
I'm sick of being made of meat. Wanna be made of Living Abyss. No skin, no flesh, no blood, no bones, no bile. Just goo. Glorious goo made out of the concentrated essence of the antithesis of life.
That won't get hurt from falling over.I also answer to Bookmark and Shadow Claw.

Today i learned that oregano really upgrades a homemade Italian sandwich. Also, adding the tomato after using the panini press is defo the way to go.

If only the Italians had discovered that their food might be better with a little oregano and basil, imagine how good it'd be.

Re: Domino Quartz's Delightfully Quaint Random Banter Thread #248
So the cast of the Owl House, as well as Dana Terrace, did a voice actor panel not too long ago.
They were asked if Eda was afraid of the IRS... And not only is the answer no, but Alex Hirsch slipped into his Grunkle Stan voice and declared that "she would take down the IRS. She would be the one to stop them! ...What a perfect woman."
So... I think that's as close to explicit confirmation that Eda was Stan's Vegas wife as we're ever gonna get.I also answer to Bookmark and Shadow Claw.

Re: Domino Quartz's Delightfully Quaint Random Banter Thread #248
Do you want to just make a dedicated Owl House thread? Like, you're talking about that even more than you drop Marvel trivia. Which isn't bad, obviously, it's just it seems like you really want to discuss it at length and that seems like a good way to get more discussion going.
