I'm sorry if this has been brought up, but I just realized that MC Hammer's name is Stanley.

I agree with this one, he is now known as Stanley the Tool, wielder of one of the Arkentools, the Arkenhammer.

Could belonging to the "Plaid" tribe be a reference to the clothes people that use tools often wear (plaid flannel) ? You know like in that show "Tooltime" in that show 'Home Improvement"?

Actually dude I'm prety sure Stanley was "Starchild" and Ace was "Spaceace", which would also account for why Stanely has the star over one eye is page 83.

I thought Paul Stanley was Starchild, and Ace Frehley was Space Ace...

But I'm confused about one of the three hobgobwins with Stanley. I recognise "the Demon" (Gene Simmons) and "Space Ace" (Ace Frehley), but who is the guy in the Robin/Nightwing mask? That really doesn't look like Peter Criss' Cat Man/Beastman costume. I wasn't into KISS as much as some of my friends, but hey, the late 1970's was a rockin' good time to be in fifth and sixth grades!

Yes, as has been stated, Paul Stanley was the Starchild, Ace Frehley was "Space Ace".

The hobgobs with masks over their eyes, are most likely representitive of Eric Carr, who played drums for KISS during the short period before they took their make up off, and for a number of years after. His character was "The fox" and had a mask much like that.

I assumed the same thing: Hammer... Stanley... the Tool etc.

I have to admit also that I completely missed the KISS references, and now I have to go back and look for the masked hobgobwins.
(thanks! I didn't really NEED an excuse to start re-reading them, but it's nice to have one anyway )

I caught on to the KISS references right off (considering I'm a fledgling KISS fan myself) along with most of the other more obscure jokes... but I did miss that logo.
