One and Two are even more on edge now that Will has shifted his form. He is indubitably a demon. There's no question about that. They continue to take shelter near Charynrae, knowing full well that she probably wouldn't hurt them. One is even beginning to make odd little motions with her hands. The flow is unique. The movements are borderline hypnotic. One is up to something, that much is for certain. What exactly is she trying to do?

One point: It's more like retractable claws than shapeshifting. The spikes and hooks are still obviously there, they've just settled back into a series of grooves and dents in his armor, rather than sticking out.

Oh this should be good. Maybe I should bring Rocid to the show so that the Operative has a shot at all of the people on his hitlist at once. Not that I fault Magtok for assuming Julie was lying about not being a MURDER agent, but I did not expect Julie's attempt at getting a job to turn into an assassination.

That's a difficult quota to fill. There's ten of them in total, and one of them is off Nexus simply because I don't really have use for a Xanatos at the moment. That and the fact that they know the psionic revivify means they act as a kind of pseudo-hydra.

Besides, at least three of them are shopkeepers, which makes it kind of difficult to want to kill them.

If you're doing something large scale, you should probably write a descriptive post (cut scene) that includes npc reactions. And then poke Wolfy, since he can't read every post.

Okay. I've been thinking over what has happened, and I think I've got a decent compromise worked out. It is a bit big, but given some of your previous comments, I think it should be okay.

And if it isn't, it's just a suggestion. No harm in just turning it down.

Now, I'm personally not inclined to significantly retcon this situation. Something about that just doesn't sit right with me. Yet I do understand that you'd like a lot more investigation and work put into undoing and learning about the mind control. I admit my last post was born a fair bit out of frustration, particularly with what I perceived as godmodding my NPCs (though clearly it didn't seem that way to you, which makes the real situation a bit different), and it probably isn't the best way to handle the situation.

So... what I suggest is rather than an alteration of your posts, an alteration of mine. I do think Genesis has reason to be suspicious, and also potentially free people from mind control with such ease, particularly when she's been connected to them and they're in her territory. Yet, we can still say the mind control on a more significant number of more indoctrinated people was a bit harder for her to remove, and didn't work. Therefore, more people left, and were still under mind control. What is more, the method of mind control removal that Genesis practices is a bit vague- it can be as much normal persuasion as it is mind control removal. She may have a lot of suspicions, but even removing the mind control won't prove that it is there to her (she never SAW it, after all, and technically the response of her people can just be attributed to her words) and certainly not in a way that she could prove it to anyone else.

Her suspicions would, however, be quite enough impetus for her to look more into the Telasurs, or send other people to do it for her. This could prompt a proper investigation plot into uncovering their control, which would give them some interaction and a chance to do some interesting things.

Now, the next part of my suggestion is based on this:


So, there is an investigation, which will presumably be successful after a time, giving Genesis and her allies proof to uncover the church's corruption and mind control. As this is a secret Telasur can hardly afford to leave uncovered, and it is a legitimate reason for Genesis to rally forces against them, this would spark conflict between the two groups.

Given that you've said you don't do much with them and you said you don't mind losing control of Eastside, it could be brought to a final showdown in which Telasur pulls out all the stops, but is ultimately defeated, leaving Eastside largely under the control of Genesis, and handing over the area to those a bit more interested in its development and use (IC and OOC, that is).


Does this sound like a reasonable compromise?
