Butler shimmies around to try and keep the tree trunk between him and the evil earth vampire flower.

Waterstrider is jostled to the side, away from What a bit, probably allowing the creature to back up and prepare himself. The blow knocks the Wolfen out of his rage a bit and he hunches down a touch, analyzing his enemy better.

What quickly swings with his other arm, bringing the bonesaw up to slash at the beast's neck. What's not expecting to end the battle that quickly, though. He's anticipating an attempt to parry the strike with one of those hatchets the Wolfen uses, and might have an idea or two in mind already to deal with that. What's got to move fast, though. Every minute he spends fighting this thing is another minute his prey could be trying to escape, or an opportunity for another GLoG member to discover him.

While Jamie and Ally are talking, Rose comes in!

Holding her shoulder pretty gingerly, and muttering under her breath.

Misaki climbs down a little and reaches out a hand to try and touch the flower.

"Well, alright. I was a little worried when you just up and vanished," Jamie admits.

Yeah, I do that a lot. So how've you been, squirt?

"Well, you should tell somebody when you're going to. It's not nice to let your friends wonder where you are and if you're OK," Jamie (almost) scolds, before smiling. "I've been pretty good. Mostly working on my magic and helping friends."

Ally ignores the criticism. Good. How're your mom and dad? I've been thinking I should meet him some time.

"They're good! Mom's doing great and dad...well, he's always kinda busy." Jamie looks sad at that.

Hmm... Ally frowns at the little girl. Hey, what did your mom say about me showing you some stuff?

[The Bushranger]

"Um...well, she didn't say anything about you showing me anything," Jamie admits, fidgeting. "But I did kinda hint at learing rogue-like stuff and she said that was nice..."

Just like that: "that's nice, dear".

The thief grins and limps over to the door to the bedroom, pulling out her set of lockpicks. Watch this. She works the pins swiftly with a saw rake, moving the pick in and out of the lock until all of the pins bounce above the sheer line. Then she uses the torsion wrench to turn the cylinder and open the door. Ally is really good at raking a lock, so it doesn't take more than thirty seconds. But she purposefully doesn't give Jamie a good view of what she does. The first time is meant to impress, not teach.

Jamie watches intently, and her eyes widen at the display of speed and skill!
"Wow. You're really good at that!" she says.
Ally uses IMPRESS on Jamie!
It's SUPER EFFECTIVE!
"I want to know how to do that," the Magical Girl declares. In fact, she wants to do it better.

Ally locks the door again and replaces the saw rake with the most basic half-diamond pick. She briefly explains the mechanism of a pin lock and how the goal is to use the pick to push the pins one by one above the shear line, applying torsion with the wrench to keep the pins from falling back down. Ally moves so Jamie can see better, and slowly demonstrates how to pick the lock. Of course, Ally has both a knack for sensing how much pressure to apply and a few years of experience picking locks, so she probably makes it look easier than it is. After she explains and demonstrates, she'll hand Jamie the pick and wrench and guide her to try it.

Experts always make everything look easy...

Jamie watches. Absorbing the knowledge. Like a sponge!
But, when it's her turn to try, she fumbles a bit. And it takes at least five, rather noisy, minutes before success can be achieved.

Not bad for a beginner, squirt. Ally grins and steps through the open door before winking at Jamie. You'll get better with practice. Now hurry up and get it open again before I take your parents' stuff. Then she slams the door and locks it before looking around Quinn and Toby's bedroom!

"Hey!"

Jamie scowls and quickly sets about getting the lock undone again!

I don't know about Toby's stuff, but there's a good bit of Quinn's. Mostly clothes. A few trinkets. And a painting of a very androgynous young man with pink hair.

Ally finds one of Toby's throwing knives "concealed" in some absurd place and slips it into her boot. If Quinn has a jewelry box visible, Ally will pocket a ring that doesn't look valuable or sentimental. If she's caught, those will help convince the paladin that she's just a thief, not a spy after the druid's secrets. Then she lies on the bed and waits for Jamie to get the door open.

There is a jewelry box visible, and it has a number of rings in it.
Either Quinn is careless, or it's bait.

After about 3 minutes, 15.2 seconds, Jamie gets the door open, rushing in!

Ally knows better than to try to look innocent, so when Jamie opens the door, she'll just see the thief lying on the bed and looking bored. Then Ally sits up and smirks. See? You're already getting faster.

Clearly at least one person.

"Yeah, when I have to," Jamie says grumpily, but at the same time beaming at the praise. "Still not nearly as fast as you, though."

That's because I'm the best. But if you practice on a lot of different locks with different numbers of pins... You might get almost as good as me. Ally slowly gets to her feet and reaches out to tousle the younger girl's hair. Ah... I should get going. I've got errands to run.

Jamie giggles, swatting good-naturedly at Ally's hand.
"Hey, watch the hair. And...alright. Just don't vanish, OK? I don't like worrying about my friends..."

The thief looks at Jamie with an odd expression. ... I won't. Then she'll try to leave the camp.

Jamie watches her go, wondering about the odd expression.
But doesn't stop her!

...meanwhile she now notices the deadtime-oozed Rose, and waits for her to undeadtime...

Rose has been watching the entire time. "Had a… co-worker… who was pretty good at that. I'm Rose."

It's worth mentioning that Rose looks 18 at most, and could even be mistaken for 16.

"I'm Jamie - Jamie Misaki Catherine Druid." Jamie curtseys. "Are you OK? I can look at that shoulder if you want, Mom's been teaching me medicine."

"...probably a good idea. I was going to patch myself up, but if you're offering..."

Rose removes her shirt, revealing a really, really nasty bruise on her shoulder. "Got careless and took a goremaul to the shoulder. Glancing blow, but it's still pretty nasty.

Would've been worse, but at least I put something into soaking up blows instead of avoiding them..."

[In the Woods]

They left the maddened horses near the edge of the forest, where they stood yanking at their posts, tearing their bodies against bark and briar. They crept through the woods, eyes peering though the foliage, until they were near the campsite.

The first man, Vire, sat on his haunches. His black and red clothes were rendered brown by the dirt covering them, his face a thin slit peering out between two bandanna scarves covering his face and head. He turned to face his companion, a sweating man of much girth fanning himself with a black cowboy hat. "We'll go in and pull off the first alone person we see."

The black clothed man, Modarmaskin, grunted. "Suit said he wanted a little one." Vire shakes his head. "They'll notice a little one missing sooner. An adult won't be missed as quickly. I want to get in and out before they get a posse formed after us." he jerked his head. "Come on. Let's do this quick."

((The intent of this scene is to establish this pair as reoccurring minor villains. They are intended to both survive this and escape, as well as coming off as rather dangerous and effective. I'm looking for people who are willing to work with this. They are going to try to abduct someone from the camp. They don't have to be successful, and in fact I expect them to be driven off, but hopefully while getting in a few licks themselves. I'm looking for people to encounter them and fight them. Power levels should be B- to C range, and should be willing/capable of taking a few wounds. If someone wants to volunteer to be a kidnapping victim, that is fine as well.))
