Re: Things you never noticed
Well, the hinges are probably hidden, so the rogue didn't which way to move it. And the door was nailed in place, as you can see when it is burst open, which makes it incredibly hard to open outwards (it's easier to push than pull), so they actually had to go through that junk to open the door.

Re: Things you never noticed
As long as Blackwing stays within five feet of V at all times, a buff cast on V will also affect the raven. Belkar also has this option for Mr. Scruffy, but he probably doesn't know it.

Re: Things you never noticed
The comic doesn't show us wether there is a night between the caravan packing and leaving, but Durkon might very well have prepared only five castings of Endure Elements, but then he might have casted the last one of them on Haley instead of Belkar, since Belkar might not know about the heat-shielding abilities of Haley's armor.
(Well, it doesn't really make any sense that Durkon would prepare just five castnings before both Haley got her new armor and Belkar decided to go and "get" him...)Last edited by Teddy; 2010-03-24 at 03:30 PM.

Ah, yes. I found the beginning of arcs by flipping through the books; I didn't even notice him in that strip. You horrible pedant, you.

Re: Things you never noticed
In #486 we see a cleric exclaiming "I had a 22!"
I think that is the same guy that failed his save when rolling 21
I am a bit confused though because all I know about saves did I learn playing Baldurs Gate. And from there I get the impression that you need to get really low results in order to save.

Re: Things you never noticed
I understood the shadow joke in 474 only until much later when I saw the movie with Alek Baldwin (which I liked btw)

Re: Things you never noticed
Old school d and d 1st and 2nd required low saving throws but you always needed a higher rolls. same logic applies in 3.5 except the saving throw is dependent on your attackers ability as well as your bonuses

Re: Things you never noticed
No. In Baldur's Gate, which was mostly based on 2ed, you have to roll higher than your save number to make a saving throw (so if you have a Saving Throw vs. Wands of 5, you pass if you roll a 5 or higher, and fail if you roll a 4 or lower). In 3.5ed, very rarely, if ever, do you want to roll low.
Orth Plays: Currently Baldur's Gate II

Re: Things you never noticed
In SoD...
SpoilerThe hunters who capture the MitD "tell Marlow to bring the boat around". Marlow is the main character (well, narrator, arguably Kurtz is really the one whose story is most relevant) and boat-captain in Heart of Darkness.
