Re: What time is it? (Adventure Time Season 3)

Half-season break. They have done it the past two seasons, nothing new.

Re: What time is it? (Adventure Time Season 3)
Adventure Time has only been on TV for 2 and a half years. It has 4 complete seasons and has already aired a few episodes from season 5.
No one has any right to complain about their schedule. It's MUCH faster than most shows.

Hope this hasn't been posted before, or isn't totally obvious to all of you already, but:
I Just saw Holly Jolly secrets I + II, and saw Betty (The Ice kings wife from when he was Simon) and thought I recognized her:

Re: What time is it? (Adventure Time Season 3)
They just look ALOT alike ;) (Same clothing and all) And Simon Petrikov and Doctor Princess having the same strange pink doll animal in their pocket. And the whole "Princess is just a surname" Doctor Princess utters in one of the "Mortal" episodes and the Ice Kings wild hunt for Princesses as explained in Holly Jolly secrets I think ("Betty, my princess" ~ Simon Petrikov ).
Edit:
"Pen Ward and Rebecca Sugar have stated specifically that Betty and Dr. Princess are not the same person." ~Adventure Time Wikia
Darn troll Pendleton Ward, so either it isn't and he just designed her extremely betty-looking and fitting extremely well to the Ice Kings princess hunting, or he is trolling not reveal future plot.Last edited by CthulhuEatYou; 2012-12-22 at 05:11 PM.

Re: What time is it? (Adventure Time Season 3)
Bubblegum is also a likely contender for being Betty, considering her seeming agelessness. Frankly, any female with a sciency-role could be Betty, and that's even if the writers are not just teasing the crap out of us and she's dead and gone. Knowing this show, it's probably going to be a big surprise.

Well, she does have that weird amulet on her forehead with a red gem in it coincidentally ;)
Just for the heck of it: Some picture that shows the similarities

That would be a Science Parasite. They live in the pockets of smart people (or at least, people they think may be smart).

Re: What time is it? (Adventure Time Season 3)
Heh, i always had in my head this idea that betty along with other scientists attempted to survive the mushroom war via cryogenic freezing... though betty winds up the only survivor, slightly mutated and with her memory all donked up
Though i do wish dr.Princess would pop up more; she seems to stand out a bit more than the rest. If not for anything else then for the whole Science Whyzard thingLast edited by slayerx; 2012-12-23 at 10:42 AM.

SpoilerYeah... Jake Jr. looks kinda weird... Hopefully it's just a bad picture.
The fact that two of them are named T.V. and Viola cracks me up.
In other news, I made bacon pancakes today. They were amazing.

Re: What time is it? (Adventure Time Season 3)
Huh... Weird...
So, I was trying to find a video of "Too Young" for a friend who didn't understand how Bubblegum got aged up. I couldn't find it, but I did stumble across this which I find hilarious for some reason.

Watched the new episode
SpoilerI think Viola is my favourite puppy!
I'm sorry, but Jake Jr. still kinda weirds me out. Some people have been saying (and this is kinda dark)...
SpoilerJake Jr.'s face is like that because of Ricardio
So, they all have teleportation, flight, colour-changing, shape-changing and the ability to fuse intoVoltrona gestalt form. And they age to adulthood over about two days. Wow.
Well, I'm glad the status quo is back, but I'm also hoping they continue to get cameos like Neptr does.
Also, that video was pretty funny, Summoner.Last edited by Beacon of Chaos; 2013-01-08 at 01:41 PM.

Re: What time is it? (Adventure Time Season 3)
Well that episode was terrible.
SpoilerI like how they set up this great idea of Lady and Jake having puppies giving themselves plenty potential for character development and future stories, and then quickly dismiss all of this by having the puppies super age.
Not only is it annoying because it's a stupid reset button, but if Rainicorns age so fast, how old is Lady? She's been around far longer than the puppies. Should she be like an elder, a very old woman? And what about her parents?
I thought a lot of the jokes were funny, and I like how dark it got:
"Hey guys, I found this book about eating babies. Let's eat some babies."
"We could have been eating babies all this time?"
But then at the very end they have that stupid reset button. Adventure Time really is a show that doesn't follow the cliche of everything's the same at the end of each episode, and does have story arcs and continuity nods, and to do this is insulting to the audience.

Re: What time is it? (Adventure Time Season 3)
This is the one time I would allow for continuity resets except well....
Im kinda looking for more father rolemodels in fiction, and I was hoping this would be one.
The super aging is just horrifying on multiple levels, and doesn't make much sense.
They didn't have to revert to status quo. If jake just wanted to do stuff, he could just hire a sitter.
Or they could have episodes pre-babies to allow for more free-spirited adventures.

Re: What time is it? (Adventure Time Season 3)
Was Jake Jr. Mable from Gravity Falls?
SpoilerI saw the ending coming immediately. They like doing morality play fakeouts on this show. It wasn't really about Jake suffering through the perils of parenthood; it never was. In the second scene he could've slept. In a house full of newborn children he could sleep all night long. It was about not being overly protective and accepting the strength of others, etc, etc.
The scene where the Mr. Fox finds the book killed me. I guess he joined a clan of really dumb foxes after Boobafina rejected him.
And about the reset itself, this would've been changing the whole premise of the show. They can't just do that. It's not about being bold and adventurous in what a children's cartoon can do; Cartoon Network would have stopped them. Not now, a year ago they would've stopped them when this was just a couple of paragraphs on a piece of paper. Adventure Time isn't a show of complex interconnecting storylines, it's about a boy and his dog in a world where nothing has to make sense, and things rarely do. I don't see how sticking with that is disrespecting anyone.... I came to appreciate that mountains make poor receptacles for dreams.

Re: What time is it? (Adventure Time Season 3)
They could have made an episode like this realy simply without needing all this buildup.
If jake just one day found some eggs that hatched and thought him to be their dad, this would be fine to status qou.
But there was all this buildup to it, not to mention BEING a real life changer.
Why buildup a lifechanging thing, if its going to be dissmissed?

Re: What time is it? (Adventure Time Season 3)
I'd be fine with magical aging if it was handled more directly and bluntly stated. If Jake had to actually deal with the problem of magical aging and had gags play off that it could have been a fun episode.
But for them to do the bulk of it offscreen and for us to just be TOLD that it happened, and never see them as adults, is kind of offensive. It's just something clumsily foreshadowed once five minutes beforehand then dumped on us.

Re: What time is it? (Adventure Time Season 3)
... They went from being tiny to being almost as big as Jake overnight...
They didn't shove it in your face and say "They grow up ridiculously fast" but they did foreshadow it pretty well.
