I figured out what the name "Erfworld" refers to!
ERROR FUNCTION.
Now, if we take the graph of the Error Function, one could interpret it to mean that Erfworld is either: a high fantasy setting that was once a sword and sorcery setting, or somewhere in between the switch between the two.
Perhaps Parson contributes to the completion of transition to a high fantasy setting, by bringing about a Grand New World Order with the help of Stanley the Tool.
Age of Avarice - A homebrew SF setting featuring neo-colonialist humans and primitive aliens (offsite hosting)

Erf is to Earth as Dwagon is Dragon and Gobwin is to Goblin.

Re: I figured out what the name "Erfworld" refers to!
Perhaps. But we've not seen a word with "th" in it modified in the same way, only word with "l" and "r". So it's not a watertight conclusion that Erf=Earth, although it is the obvious answer. Sometimes the "obvious answer" is wrong.

Uh. I'm pretty sure he was joking, guys. And making fun of the recent Erf=Earth threads.

Awesome Avatar by Shattersnap.
Spoiler
Many thanks to El Goonish Shive for the banner image.
Give a player a fish, and he’ll probably try to sell it to an NPC fisherman.
Teach a player to fish, and next week he’ll show up with the book, “The Complete Adventuring Fisherman”. He’ll start hunting for some monstrous leviathan to catch and enslave, and he’ll be dual-wielding two fishing poles.

This is the internet! No theory is too silly for at least someone to hold.

Re: I figured out what the name "Erfworld" refers to!
Is that a challenge, Mr. Teufel...?
Very well! I do hereby present with you the strangest theory that I can possibly fathom currently!
The world is run by a group of semi-intelligent egg people! Further, all webcomics? WRITTEN BY THE SAME EGG THING! On that note, these egg people are high in protein, while being low in mono sodium glutamate, or MSG, which makes them mighty unpopular in areas that enjoy consuming said product! Finally, Erfworld is, in fact, lampooning the movie Jaws! While, if you'll humour me, lampooning Hillary Clinton!
I rest my case... if I even had one...
I'll go sit in my corner, then? Very good, sir.
