Not at all; I'm saying that Satoshi doesn't need to succeed in rescuing those hostages. That's what started this discussion, after all; Not the fact that Satoshi wasn't being allowed to do anything, but the fact that Satoshi wasn't being allowed to succeed. I'm trying to suggest that maybe Satoshi's role in this scene isn't the same as before. Maybe this time he's not there to be the dashing hero, but rather to help show just how dangerous Toho really is. Consider, which scene would be more dramatic: Satoshi swooping in and rescuing another innocent in the same way that he's been doing all battle? Or him attempting it and, just when the viewer least expects it, losing them to the true depth of his enemy's villainy?

Satoshi can most definitely still have an impact on the story; What I'm trying to say is that he doesn't need to win in order to do that.

KD: I haven't posted in the actual game for what might be months, but I'm still here. And I wouldn't count on myself being the only observer not listed.

I understand you're frustrated. You're possibly the most devoted member left in the game, but can't do much to speed up its solution. However, there really isn't any other advice I could give about that than what I already said: wait, go with the flow, see what possibilities emerge.

At this point, I feel the story might become more enjoyable if you loosen up on some meta level concerns - who's going to win, what's going to happen after the story ends, how cynical the setting is, especially the state of the game. Also remember that real people aren't always consistent - so Satoshi failing and/or acting in an irrational manner for the scope of one or two posts won't break him.

IRL update delay post, number 2:

I'm currently using something that runs like the illegitimate love-child of 56k and dial-up. The reason for this is that my girlfriend has had a bad week, and thus, I've not been having the time of my life either.

Allow me to start from the beginning. First, the siblings are still in the process of moving in. Chaos, clutter, whatever. Then, she whacks a guy off of his bike with her side mirror while blinded by the sun. She goes into shock. The next day, she gets word that the only grandfather who had the time of day for her has passed on. Dear lord, I feel for her. Finally, while we are down there to console her grandmother, we catch word that her parents have had their home ransacked by what the police suspect are serial home invaders. Thus, I am keeping you lot in the loop from the desk where my hosts' own computer used to be. I would not expect a decent "itP" from me until Thursday at the soonest as I believe I will have my time largely occupied by related tasks until the funeral in Texas.

Blurgh. I've been bogged down a lot with work lately, putting in overtime and pretty much being reduced to a schedule of "work, go home, sleep, get up, work," so my apologies for lack of posting. I should have more time this week, but there's no guarantees as of yet. If I can't get anything up by this weekend, then I suppose I'll hand control of Masato over to someone else. I don't want to hold this up indefinitely.

So it's a little late. Really sorry, but believe it or not, I was just about to post a message here saying "welp, I failed so here's Masato" when I quickly went to skim through the latest posts in the Seireitei thread. Somehow, my writer's block shattered and I had an idea. I'm still not particularly satisfied with the post, but hopefully, it'll take me where I need it to.
