Eh, it's kinda weak, IMHO. Not because there are holes in the reasoning (though a lot of it is wishful thinking) but because it tailors screens to the thesis, instead of supporting it. For example, glowing eyes, for all we know each pony in that scene had them (only Twilight actually opened them) so AJ is next winged unicorn?

Same with armillary sphere (which has more than 5 planets) and tiara thing (Diamond Tiara for the win).

Pony episode synopses are always the initial premise, not the ending. So that one is only telling us the first half of the episode. Although I'd love to be wrong and see the status quo shaken up that much.

I don't have any problem with not liking the fan fiction or music (though I do have to watch myself sometimes since he has almost zero interest in the fic I just read no matter how amazing I think it is.) but now he's reluctant to even talk about the show, and has exspressed doubts about whether he's going to watch season 3.

Eh, I saw quite a few people turned off MLP by various... excesses of the fandom.

All I can say is, since you can't pick family, try to talk like friends, not fans of one series? If you remind him of fandom in bad way, all you can do is to change his opinion by example, not forcing him. Make him forget about peer pressure. Still, I wouldn't avoid the series completely? It sounds like he is still a fan, just trying to realign his position somewhat.

Speed is an illusion created by expectation. Forums are the magic of Time and Space. When I read a new post, the person has just said that thing, no matter how long ago they said it on their end. Distance is a lie made up enforced spatial rearrangement. I am as close to my friends here as I would be we're I to visit their houses. Regardless! At leat he can somewhat prioritize. Keeping the minimum in his cemetery of tall buildings, for example. That can be pretty hard sometimes. I know I've been stalling on the final evolution of a binding oath in Oklahoma on account of a half-flank 'waiting on Soras' excuse.

To echo a three hundred year old joke, the New Lunar Republic is far from new, was never on the Moon, and is ruled by an unelected dictator.

I actually don't quite buy that. It only works from a "unless something is specifically called out then it's not allowable, and you are not allowed to make logical inferences based on presentation of two points" point of view. Dispensing with that because it's lame, and if I get too lame Bleakbane will confuse me for Gilda and then shenanigans will ensue, this is the general framework from about 40 threads ago.

We know there's no such thing as a universal opinion. So we can surmise than very few ponies were around who appreciated Luna's night, but that they were around. And when it turns out that Luna was banished to the moon, no matter how justified the punishment, somepony is going to grumble about it.

There's an undercurrent of pro-lunar sentiment, or at least disillusionment with Celestia. It carries along like tradition, within the respective noble lines, and finally Luna returns! And so the courtiers set to her, plying her with cloying sweetness, a shoulder to cry on, and convince her that things really weren't so bad and Celestia was wrong to have behaved so harshly.

Eventually, the socially starved princess comes to believe it. Convinced that the system of governance is obsolete, Luna petitions Celestia for sweeping changes. After all, she did have a thousand years to think about whatever came to mind. Celestia, being smart enough to realize that Luna is being manipulated, tries to talk her down. Luna sees this as jealously guarding her power though and gets mad. Things escalate.

Eventually, Luna continues with her old plan, of founding a new kingdom of night-loving ponies. Only, not a kingdom, a monarchal (for now) republic! Luna will rule as head of state until the governance is established, and then allow those ponies whose merit allows them the position to be elected as senators.

Of course, while some of her followers honestly believe this is the right thing to do, or at least a good thing, the majority of the senators have simply chafed user Celestia's benevolence and want a chance at a throne. Even a shadow throne. Working both sides of the conflict through intermidiaries and pocket dignitaries, they set up just enough strife to validate going themselves power to run martial law...


Admittedly it's a better campaign setting than it is show canon, and Bad-Ass Luna, PRINCESS OOOF THE NIIIIIGHT blows it out of the water – she's a goddess and she is damn comfortable in that role – but as a hypothetical in which to work, it's pretty slick.

You may be misunderstanding the theory behind all of Anarions rookies being named Thanqol. It was because that way, many Thanqols would be murdered almost every mission (by the aliens, mostly). So unless new ships have a horrendous tendancy to explode horribly, it doesn't really fit with Ponythread tradion (of solving problems by killing Thanqol/s)

If there's a hilariously fragile type of fighter perhaps? I could totally see a valiant, red-shirted squadron of Thanqols in leather bomber-jackets and goggles.

Okay, let's run with this. I think the sun/moon/stars background is interestingly similar. This would seem to suggest that Twilight is not being groomed to replace Celestia/Luna, but rather to supplement them. This could be a necessity for stabilizing the current world, but I'd like to propose a more wild theory (since you like those):*

The number of alicorns is directly linked to the overall size and control that ponies have over the cosmos in the pony world. If Twilight ascends to alicorn-hood.

What this would mean is that if Twilight did ascend to have domain over the stars or the dusk or dawn or some such, that would actually expand the pony world. It might give access to new stars that could be reached by portals or teleportation, or perhaps it would lead new pony cities and towns to simply spring into being in the current world. Or even push back the borders of the kingdom and allow pony magic and weather control to extend into the current Everfree or other territories.

I can dig it.

Sparkle ascension is akin to the discovery of the Americas or the fall of Atlantis, in that once she rises those pony towns will always have been there. Duh~

I actually prefer a soft Ascension feel over Awakening though. Celestia and Luna are seers of the throne (or hell, Exarchs? Nah) who keep their respective Exarchs placated with their antics. The alicorn of Seasons is no more, and so the exarch, discord, took it upon himself to enact changes. Were Celestia to be less aloof, Iton Hoof would free itself an perpetrate real evils of government.

But hey, enforcing a utopia where everypony is happy, fulfilled, has a good life and need never worry about more than an occasional misunderstanding is pretty awesome. And Mage the ascension was based on the 'enemy' being the good guys and the PCs being selfish guys who are all like, magic is free, maaaaan.

I also forgot another head canon,
Scootaloo could be a product of earth pony- pegasus pairings, born in Ponyville. I wonder why we didn't see Rainbowdash and Fluttershy parents though, maybe they were separated from their parents at age of eight like spartans.
P.S- In Spartan definition, Rainbowdash would be Homoioi while Fluttershy would be Perioikoi.

My gut instinct is to say that it's fake. That synopsis reads really weird, like it's almost too direct. I can see that being nearly half the episode given away right there. But with only an unverified line from a website to go off of, not much else I can say.

If it's real...hooooo boy will this be an episode and a half, one way or another.

You realize, of course, that apart from Pound Cake and the implications of Thunderlane and Rumble, there has been not one official word about pegasus families? Both of the unicorns in the mane six have parents, and a sibling each; both the earth ponies (assuming Pinkie's story is basically accurate) have siblings, and Pinkie has parents and AJ has plenty of other relatives; but neither Fluttershy nor Rainbow Dash has any family.

On Screen. Rarity didn't have family until it would be funny and move the story along. Same with applejack.same with Fluttershy (who left her family and way o life behind to be a peacenik on the ground she – and by extension, probably they – had never seen or really knew existed. Dash left everything behind because he old life is strongly presented as wrapped up in old patterns of behavior and tracks she is avoiding. That's not "no family" that's "family isn't important to who they are as characters".

And as an aside, if you do put stock in Word of Faust, said word is not "AJs parents are dead" it's that they are out there but aren't important, and such an offscreen death could be a solution but there is no definitive answer, aside from "narrative convenience". And unlike an easily editable dA post, I was in the room listening over champagne when she said it. From her own lips!

I think it's clear at this point that Pegasi come from a communal culture that collectively raises their children in a combination of Greco-Roman aesthetics and competitive racing. All pegasi are thrown into a giant cloud pool upon birth, and are jointly cared for by a collection of weather mares and stallions that feed them indirectly via cloud transport. The babies learn independence and are then weened in their schools and separated by merits and talents.

This, of course, challenges the Western capitalist-democratic paradigm and therefore can't be shown on camera.

You can normally only type hyphens on a regular keyboard, which is freaky annoying because the em-dash is supposed to be used a lot. I've set mine up so I can use the caps lock key to type special characters like this, which is helpful.

Not sure what en-dashes are for, exactly, I don't think I've ever had to use one.*

Em-dashes are much like parentheses, for when you need a separate thought in the middle of a sentence and such. Or when a character speaks and is cut off, like "He looked up. 'I was just about to—' he said, when he was interrupted again." The ellipsis (…)—which is totally not three consecutive dots but actually a single character—is also used there, but represents less of a cut off and more of a … trailing off or uncertainty.

No, that was Bleakbane himself. The peculiarities of his condition work from generative soul density, such that the physical and ephemeral aspects are a more tightly merged spectrum; his body is an accretion where his aura an soul reach severe enough density to congeal into matter. So unless you fully transmute Bleakbane's soul, a feat difficult enough that it wouldn't stick for long anyway, his body will continually be refreshed by the template. The transformation is seemingly instantaneous not because it is, but because the priority of change first slowly alters variables such that there is no unviable half-way point.

One of the more outlandish necromancers of a Prime sphere I frequent recently began formulating similar theories, although he's having a hard time unsung evidence. I belayed her transformative spell in order to study the affects of Bleakbane believing he had altered me on a fundamental level. While I was preoccupied though, Bleakbane "fixed" his transformation. The end result was a strange juxtaposition of a deification transformation held in stasis by the outer ketheric shell of my aura, being driven in by the commadore's mana moulding and altering the nail in the process. it was entertaining? If exhausting.

I admit when I first started watching, I did it late at night, when I knew my brother was asleep. *I had a tiny one-bedroom apartment and he was staying with me until he and his fiance found a place. I was going to name my recruits after ponies and characters from various other works of media, but I stopped that policy after I started losing a lot of soldiers on each mission (From now on, nobody gets a custom name until they earn it via getting to one of the higher ranks.) However, Colonel Flutter "Demon" Shy (Sniper-class) has managed to survive the carnage, and so far has 60+ kills. Many,many, missions would have ended in a T.P.K if it weren't for her disturbing skill with a sniper rifle.

And it was during that rather bleak period, when I took up playing Transport Tycoon because I didn't have to interact with even pretend people. Sheer bloody-mindedness is keeping me going through that game, because I have never yet completed it, and I am determined to do it this time, come hell and high water; even though I picked a map that was really too small, even though I probably should have turned off inflation and breakdowns, I am going to get through to 2050! Several things actually. All other things being equal, the bigger guy in a fight wins. Nightmare Moon had some size on Celestia, but even if they were actually the same....

Aggression makes up for a lot. It's actually one of the first things military service tries to drive into you. The most aggressive guy out for the most blood and willing to do the most will win.

The sheer fact that Celestia could hesitate for half a second, while NMM would be willing to straight murder her sister on accident by applying full force in hopes of knocking her down means NMM has a huge advantage. HUGE.

You may be misunderstanding the theory behind all of Anarions rookies being named Thanqol. It was because that way, many Thanqols would be murdered almost every mission (by the aliens, mostly). So unless new ships have a horrendous tendancy to explode horribly, it doesn't really fit with Ponythread tradion (of solving problems by killing Thanqol/s)

If there's a hilariously fragile type of fighter perhaps? I could totally see a valiant, red-shirted squadron of Thanqols in leather bomber-jackets and goggles.

Obviously, she was fighting a sun goddess and the power of love was just so pure from Shining Armor that it gave Chrysalis the power to overcome anything at that moment. He subsequent lack of doing anything about the fact that Twilight is freeing anyone is because she actually used up 99.9% of her power to beat Celestia there and was just bluffing the rest of the way.

What's that counterargument? La la la, I can't hear you!
