I suppose the hatred cannon went unmentioned because t wasn't the proper time to do so; sequence and order, time and stress. Accent, emphasis, and all.

In about a thread or two, the legend of the Animosity Beam will spread, and peole will gloss over it's side-effects and desire it's power. A pirate captain, dominatrix, samurai, ninja, some Greek chicks and a motley crew of other assorted miscreants will travel the world, destroying each other's lives for possession of it's targeting matrix.

The legends of the orbital friendship cannon will then be rediscovered, not as a unique weapon but as a counter to the Animosity Beam. Some willsearch to wield it, some to destroy it, others to corrupt it; in the end, it will be a key point, the light to Animosity's dark, Zenith to Nadir.

The final act, the culmination, will be a Grand Reveal- all of this byplay was a clever ruse by an immortal to end their cycle of eternity, so they can finally retire. Struck by both beams, it will be a toss-up, based on button inputs during the rewardending movie, to see whether the cycle is truly broken, or if the immortal instead is consumed by their darker cravings. Wielding the power of both friendship and animosity, and something more, something other, they would begin a multi-millennia reign of anti-pony terror.

And the only one I know who fits all the bills here is Kyuubi. I don't want a ten story tall, superevilfriendahiphatredfoxdemonlord Kyuubi. I like our current, adorable, huggable, won't end reality on a whim Kyuubi.

Heh. Artists are like mathematicians. We are lazy. Any time someone says there is a 'right' way to do something in art, they aren't being uppity. They are saying "this uses 13% less energy and only 87% as much time for equivalent results". Extrapolating from their, and from their being a drawing aid which is a ruler composed entirely of different grades of curve, I have surmised that tracing outlines is fine. Obfuscating is also fine, as is ignoring anatomy (to a degree) when realism gets in the way.
Point in case? The "Thancolt" loses an eye" pic. I drew all of Thancolt. 80% of him was covered up. It looked ridiculous, until Alterform added in body where you could see it, which made all the difference in the world.

Careful though, sometimes tossing anatomy out the window is a war crime (see: Dominic Deegan).

2) As for it, I don't blame you in the slightest for having a low opinion of fanfiction. The trick to surviving fanfiction is to find a community that has high standards. And honestly, now I'm writing because I have stories I think people would enjoy, not only because I'm after attention (a fine but important distinction). I mean, ... And Apple Accessories was written in a one night writing binge because I got jealous of Thanqol's attention from Through A Glass Derply. Hm. Y'know something interesting occurs to me. I have ideas about who three of the cast could end up with.

I of course support SoarinXApplejack. The problem with all non-same sex shipping is that there are only 5 really characterized colts so far: Big Mac, Braeburn, Soarin, HoityToity and Prince Blueblood. And the later two we can ignore.

To tell the truth, the only pairings I really believe in, given the show's context alone are:
Big Macintosh x Fluttershy
Rainbow Dash x Fluttershy or Spitfire

Fanfics and rampant shipping can create alternate contexts where other pairings are viable, but in the unmodified, vanilla universe those are the only ones I legitimately see happening.

Not to say that other ships are invalid or fics involving them are not excellent, I just feel they require leaps in assumptions or interpretations of the characters. I also believe Twilight Sparkle is the only unambiguously straight mane cast member so make of that what you will.

Huh. So far we've only seen Rarity showing any romantic ambition, and that was Rarity for Blueblood. So we can't rule out anything for the others. Except maybe Rainbow Dash, but I don't see her as straight,gay or bisexual, but as someone who just don't care for any kind of category and just gets what she wants.

It is my less than humble opinion that the latest chapter of this story is the best thing you have ever written. Full stop. The way the conflict tied together, the confrontations and the dialog, the way that I'm still tied up in a dungeon (who put me there, by the way? Do I forgive them?), the themes present and the totally organic way that you blended the source materials together into a flawless whole... all of it is sublime.

The imagery you ended the chapter on was magnificent. I am honestly terrified about you writing more because you finished on such a knockout punch right there. I'm aware there's still unresolved plotlines which you've been hinting at very strongly, but... well, we'll see how it goes, right? You don't tend to write that well without being able to hold some semblance of that together. We'll call it an epilogue, and I'm looking forward to it all the same!

I think you're neglecting a possibility. I'm Kyuubi's rival, an epic level sorceress with an artifact of incredible shippy power, and I have the codes for the Friendship cannon and INVENTED the Hatred cannon.

I know that 90% of the internet hates Dominic Deegan, but does it have to be an acceptable target? If half the forum relentlessly made fun of/insulted/put down/used as an example of 'worst thing ever' something you liked, it would get old VERY fast.
It... it gets annoying. And to be honest I don't expect this post to change anything, but I feel it needs to be said. Some of us enjoy it, and the relentless insulting is saddening.
