This technically doesn't count as a thing I didn't notice, as I remember it at the time.

But while re-reading I just realized a nice double meaning that wasn't readily apparent at the time in the following strip:

    : Hooray! Durkon's Back!
: I thought that it would take at least another 100 pages....

Well Haley, now that you mention it....

This is more of a "never realized" then "never noticed", but:

In #651 when O-Chul is describing the Go board as an metaphor for the Monster in the Darkness's character, the holes corresponding to his Heart and Mind, the only thing keeping the surrounding enemies from corrupting MitD to true Evil. As it happens, the formation could also correspond to a description of MitD's graphical depiction(two circles in the middle of a big black field = the two yellow eyes in an encompassing darkness). The two holes are even at the same row, meaning they look even more like eyes.

I think general consensus is that seeing an image in the go board is more likely due to pareidolia than there being an image there. However, the representation of his heart and mind seems to work fine.

The board probably doesn't give a clue to the MitD's identity, but I do think it's pretty likely that the central black section looking like him is intentional.

I have no idea if this is intentional or not but the picture of tinker town in #964 makes it look almost exactly like Voya Nui it's even inhabited by short people visited by taller and more powerful beings from across the sea!

*Lizardfolk from SoD (looks like your avatar) have coloured eyes.
    *These two have red eyes.
    *This one too.
*Malack (if he's a lizardfolk) have pink eyes.
*The soldier from 728 and 730 have yellow eyes.
*Also, we never see Gannji's and Tarquin's soldiers' real eyes.

I never noticed that I have no idea what that dwarf was doing on that ladder. I always assumed he was working on something, but he has no tools. I guess he's just climbing to that upper level for some reason. Slowly.

In the very first panel, the ladder leads up to a ledge which seems to disappear. Perhaps he was returning from lunch and left his tools up there?

In this comic, when identifying what he is smelling, Belkar denies smelling rotting corpses, instead identifying them as humans. The thing is, Belkar WAS smelling rotting corpses!

No, he was smelling dessicated corpses, not rotting ones. As was pointed out when he was called on it.

I never noticed Tarquin's axe has a very faint white arrow-like detail in the middle of his axe (best seen in panel 7).

It's surely just a inconsequential design (particularly since there's a smaller arrow on the other side of the hilt) but I like to think it indicates "Swing this way!"

By the way, surely there was a discussion somewhere of what sort of axe Tarquin has, but I can't find it. Was it a voulge or a voulge-guisarme or what?

Those are full-fledged polearms. I can't recall where anyone refers to his axe as anything specific.

I just started re-reading the books in a psych-up for Book 5, so there may be a whole slew of these coming up...

    In Dungeon-Crawlin' Fools Bonus Strips,
    Spoiler: DGF
    Show
the first panel of strip E has Elan speaking both Roy's line and his own, due to a speech arrow problem (both arrows are pointing to Elan, where the first one should be pointing to Roy), so the dialogue reads:

ELAN: Tell us where your lair is!
    GOBLIN: Die, human!
    ELAN: Roy, let me help!

Making it look as if Elan is talking to himself, while Roy just has an angry look on his face.

    In the main comic:

In panel 14, I notice that even as a baby, Nale had a goatee, even if it's just 3 hairs. And Nale and Elan's diapers were color-coded for our convenience.

Casting Owl's Wisdom on Belkar causes his shirt to change color from green to white. Dismissing the spell changes it back.

    Probably more to come.

The dragon Roy's playing with in the flashback strip after Xykon shatters his sword is the same one Erik has in the afterlife, which looks a lot like the one the MITD has in Start of Darkness, all of which resemble the dragon from the last few issues of Dragon, which was based on the dragon on the cover of the first issue.

I think Rich really likes that image.

Something neat I noticed in 481:

    • Panel 9: Hobgoblin archers are visible lining up on the pier.
    • Panel 10: They lift up their bows to fire.
    • Panel 11: A couple of arrows hit or go past the junk.

    All completely in the background.
