Re: Civilization 5: Giant Multiplayer in the Playground II
I'm not sure about booting people who aren't in the other game.
Have you sent either of them a PM?"that nighted, penguin-fringed abyss" - At The Mountains of Madness, H.P. Lovecraft

Alright, so. Whoever's turn it is, you have only 8 hours left. Don't want you to miss your first turn.

Re: Civilization 5: Giant Multiplayer in the Playground II
Crap, didn't realise we'd started.
I have to leave for work in 10 mins so I'll just let the AI get this one. It's only turn 1- even the AI can't screw it up that badly, right?

Re: Civilization 5: Giant Multiplayer in the Playground II
I'm guessing he hasn't seen the post regarding the timer being extended and thinks he's already been skipped.

Well he's on Steam.
I have to say, I'm starting to get general sense of worry considering the involvement in this particular game...Last edited by Driderman; 2013-12-17 at 04:27 PM.

Re: Civilization 5: Giant Multiplayer in the Playground II
^Already done. Let's get this show on the road. (Driderman can probably set the timer back to 24 hours if he hasn't already done so).
The pre-history of the Indonesian people is, like so much of the earlier times, shrouded in mystery. OUr best archeological evidence suggests they began as nomads travelling along the banks of the Ciliwung river for some time before the founding of Jakarta. Such a lifestyle coupled with the extensive water erosion makes hard evidence difficult to find however.
Spoiler: To the SpectatorsAnd I have found myself extremely far from any sort of coast, because this game has apparently decided to forget about that whole 'coastal start bias' thing. Lots of swamp though, so maybe it's gotten me confused with the Dutch?
So yeah, this may end-up being an 'interesting' game. On the plus side, there are plenty of flood plains and wheat to exploit, although it does mean delaying founding my city until turn 2 to actually benefit from that (not much of a loss in the long time though, one hopes).Last edited by Mx.Silver; 2013-12-17 at 07:51 PM.

Re: Civilization 5: Giant Multiplayer in the Playground II
Actually, I just told Mr. Silver. Its now my turn. Finally! I'm about to do multiplayer with Brave New World!
Edit:
Our people were wandering Nomads, moving about through the wilderness with no place to call home. Until our glorious leader appeared holding 2 animals with him. With these animals to help travel, we soon found a place to settle down. He has done so much for us and our people are quite happy with his rule, we have decided to name our settlement, and ourselves after him. Living from Attila's Court, our great group of Huns will now make this land our own, and with the horses he provided, explore farther than the eye could see.
To the Spectators:
SpoilerSo, I spawned on top of a hill with horses 3 spaces away from where my settler was. There was some cotton near a river and I moved my settler 1 movement space towards it. I'm glad I did because not only did I make the horses just barely out of my city territory, I now have 2 sources of cotton and now some cattle within range of my first city.
As for how I will play Attila, that remains to be seen. I probably will play this smart and not become a warmonger, but I will still probably go down the honor tree. It just means I'm going to have to pick my allies and fights carefully. I'm hoping to find a player who will sit down and practice all on research and development. I would make an alliance with him with the offer to become the military protection of both our civilizations in exchange for resources and some science.
OOC: How do I Print Screen in Fullscreen mode? Steam won't take one and if I do it manually its just a black screen. I would like to provide screen shots for the spectators if I can.Last edited by Silverraptor; 2013-12-17 at 08:19 PM.

Re: Civilization 5: Giant Multiplayer in the Playground II
Lured by his promises of a great weapon that can destroy entire tribes at once, the Indian people have finally settled down under the wise leadership of their leader Ghandi.
To the spectators:
SpoilerNo coast, which is bad I think, looking at the few BNW games I've played/seen, but the rest of the terrain is fabulous, with bananas, wine and dyes all within very easy grasp, a river and plenty of hills to fuel my production. Delhi could turn out very nice indeed...

Re: Civilization 5: Giant Multiplayer in the Playground II
Just took my turn. Weirdly, I started with a jaguar warrior and had Aztec colours, although my leaderscreen and tech tree are properly Chinese.

Re: Civilization 5: Giant Multiplayer in the Playground II
From The Spice of Life: The memoirs of Prime Minister Gajah Mada (vol.1)
Those early days after Jakarta's founding were an auspicious time for the Indonesian people. Barely had our great city been founded when my warriors returned with from the south with numerous artworks, found in the ruins of one of the less successful Indonesian tribes. Although now such a practice seems innocuous, at the time it seemed to many that this was a sign from the gods that we were the true inheritors of the land. This included the king, who was happy to allow our soldiers to carrying out further exploration missions.
Spoiler: To The Spectators
The Indonesian Cartographers have produced this map of the starting location
Spoiler
Plenty of good food land, plus some gold and silver which should help with production at least at first.
Also, coast has been found. We may actually see some use out of the Spice Islands this game.

Re: Civilization 5: Giant Multiplayer in the Playground II
Our people have discovered a volcano of great wonder. We deem this a sign of our manifest destiny, and many of our people wish to flock to write songs and poems as well as worship this marvelous natural wonder. This grand sight our leader has named "Mt. Fuji".
To the spectators:
SpoilerI'm still scouting out the area and needing to clear a barbarian camp, but looks like I'm going for a fast settler to claim this wonder. Its actually pretty close to my capital.Last edited by Silverraptor; 2013-12-28 at 02:22 PM.
