Re: Test of Spite Olo vs Claudius
(All assuming the forest map is good....)
I'll take the blue starting area, and you take the red. You have to start in the area (duh), but you can be off the ground, and any minions you have can be anywhere on your half of the map.
Starting Location OOSpoilerIm on a Cauchemar Nightmare which takes up A9-C11 (15ft square), 100ft up. The center of that, B10, is my location.
I have Retrivers in J1-L3, J18-L20, G1-I3, G18-I20, and B9-D11. My succubus stands in A9. My Vrocks are in I8-J9, I10-J11, and I12-J13.

Re: Test of Spite Olo vs Claudius
SpoilerForgot to mention, 2 rounds before the fighting begins, I snapped my fingers.
All of my spoilers are OO. If they say (Spellcraft DC 11) or whatever infront of them, if you make that check, you can open it.
Damn...I just have See Invisibility.
Stretched out before you lies a bewildering array of creatures.
In J1-L3, J18-L20, G1-I3, G18-I20, and B9-D11 you see huge, spider-like creatures, with the front 4 arms ending in claws.
Behind one of them, in D10, you see an extremely beautiful woman, holding a staff in in her hand.
Way up above her is a man riding a gigantic fiery steed. (D10, 100ft up)
Standing in I8-J9, I10-J11, and I12-J13 are giant crosses between humanoids and birds. They are in a circle, chanting wildly.
Do I see you? And what does Arcane Sight tell you?

Re: Test of Spite Olo vs Claudius
Arcane sight is like the third round of Detect Magic, but continuous and it does not require concentration. Everyone but the gentleman on the fiery horse is within range. You need to give me a (probably extensive) list of auras. I can automatically make school identification checks of DC 22 or lower, so I only need to check for 8th+ spells or for powerful magic items.
True seeing has the same range.
I'm going to make K. Arcana checks to see if I identify the creatures.
Knowledge Check: (1d20+15)[11](26) For the Spider things.
Knowledge Check 2: Check Harder: (1d20+15)[12](27) For the Birdmen.
Knowledge Check 3: the Checkening: (1d20+15)[15](30) For the steed.
Also, unless I'm mistaken, you can't start out in D row. You're limited to one of the four blue squares.Editor and playtester for Legend.

Re: Test of Spite Olo vs Claudius
Actually, in that case, you dont see the man. And there are 8 horses, each of which take up A9-C11 (sorry, I got a bit confused about that one)
The auras on the spiders, the birds, and the girl are all Faint Abjuration, Faint Conjuration, and Moderate Illusion.Last edited by Olo Demonsbane; 2009-08-08 at 09:33 PM.

Re: Test of Spite Olo vs Claudius
I need to take an action to determine spellcasting ability, so I'm just going to pretend I never saw that.
I think I'm going to die from lack of metagaming this time...
Edit: Can I get the Int scores and creature types of all creatures except for the man, his steed, and the woman? I've got mindsight, so I at least know that.Last edited by Claudius Maximus; 2009-08-08 at 09:34 PM.

Re: Test of Spite Olo vs Claudius
Nobody saw me before, but now everyone but spider 2, spider 4, and the man can see me. Here's the description, (imagine there's also glitter everywhere):
SpoilerA man with dark hair stands before you. His eyes glow blue, but the color seems muted. In fact, he looks drained of color, as if viewed through some sort of filter (think the effect used in 300). There is a band of beaten old leather on his forehead, which is mostly concealed by greasy black bangs. The most striking feature about his head, however, is the gaudy bright pink veil that covers his face, which seem very out of place on such a drab, gray... well, man. He has a drab, featureless gray cloak with a hood, and where it does not conceal his torso you can see a tiger's pelt. His arms are covered in fine, silvery chainmail (the cloak is sleeveless), and you see bracers of tiger's skin on his wrists. There are a large number of thin leather bands crudely tied around his right arm. He is also wearing ornate blue leather armbands with golden patches that look like eagles sewn in. A light crossbow hangs at his side, and you can see a pouch on his belt within easy reach of his hands. He wields a round wooden shield, its surface virtually unscathed. There is a smooth blue gem embedded in the center of the shield, with a small arrowhead embedded in it. He has one ring on each hand: the left ring is a thin golden band set with silver spheres. The right ring is a thicker, larger golden ring with a seal in the middle surrounded by small rubies. It could certainly be used as a signet. You probably can't make out what the seal looks like at this distance. His boots are dark gray and seem unusually large, and are padded on the bottom. He is also wearing a backpack.Editor and playtester for Legend.

Spot check: (1d20)[5](5)
Hm. This isn't good from my point of view. Do you think a spell like Disguise Self could negate Glitterdust's penalty by covering up the glitter?
Not by RAW. I forgot to mention that I have 8 mirror Images around me, which incidentally give no penalty. I'm more interested in why nine guys are just as hard to find as one.Last edited by Claudius Maximus; 2009-08-08 at 10:11 PM.

Re: Test of Spite Olo vs Claudius
This is pretty bad, since my main defense is to not be found. Well, he casts a quickened or swift spell:
DC 19:
SpoilerQuickened Confusion.
All 3 of the bird men are targeted. Any who are affected need to make DC 25 will saves.
Caster level checks if necessary:
Northernmost birdman: (1d20+14)[16](30)
Middle one: (1d20+14)[4](18)
South birdman: (1d20+14)[2](16)
As he casts the spell, his hide drops deep into the negatives, so everyone can see it. Interestingly, the spell has a verbal component but you hear nothing when he moves his mouth. A DC 28 Spellcraft check reveals:
SpoilerThis kind of selective silence is the result of the spell Zone of Silence.
Further actions depend on results.
Observers only:
SpoilerI used 2 of my 4 points of spin to increase the DC of the spell.Last edited by Claudius Maximus; 2009-08-08 at 10:25 PM.

Re: Test of Spite Olo vs Claudius
I cast a spell.
DC 19:
SpoilerSolid Fog.
A 20ft. radius cloud of fog billows forth from the intersection of V-W/9-10. Everyone (presumably) loses line of sight to me.
Observers only:
SpoilerMove to W8.
End turn.
Vital statistics (observers only)
SpoilerHP: 54/54
Spell slots:
1: 6/8
2: 8/8
3: 4/7
4: 4/7
5: 7/7
6: 4/5
Durations: True Seeing 9, greater Invisibility 11, Glitterdust X, the rest are really long, so I doubt they'll come into play.
If I'm in the fog, I can't see anything, so divulge information accordingly. I can pinpoint the locations of all non-mindless creatures within 100 feet, though.Last edited by Claudius Maximus; 2009-08-08 at 10:48 PM.

Re: Test of Spite Olo vs Claudius
SpoilerVrocks finish Dance of Ruin, then take move actions and use stunning screech.
Succubus delays.
From the bird-men, a wave of crackling energy emenates out from them. You take (20d6)[74]. You can take a reflex save DC 18 for half.
Then your spell forces the center bird to go crazy. Do I roll for confusion or do you?
The other two fly twoards you, ending up in S8-T9 and S12-T13 before giving unearthly shrieks. Make 2 DC 22 Fortitude Saves.
