Re: 2D8HP's extended mea culpa and Random Banter #218
Oh no, it's perfect.
I'm very grateful.
Spoiler: See?
By what witchcraft?!!!
I'm going to save "Grumpy Ranger" for special occasions.
Thanks again!
AWESOME! ...er..
GEAR!
(Maybe it's just Ringo Starr who says that as an expression).
...I've recently started a new job (as in a month and a bit ago) and my accent has become a recurring joke among my colleagues because I just sound so much more posh than everybody (comes from growing up in the home counties and having speech therapy as a kid but working in central London)....
It's my dearest wish that you now sound almost exactly like Brian Blessed (or soon will).

Re: 2D8HP's extended mea culpa and Random Banter #218
Nobody said anything about puddings, get your hands off my Spotted Richard. And the custard!
(Which really isn't that popular anymore, people prefer sticky toffee pudding as a general rule.)
EDIT: unfortunately 2D8HP I sound pretty much like a posh git. Not in my head of course, but I might have been Anne to squeak a radio job even before regional accents we allowed (although I'm not BBC standard). I can be as loud as him though.
If I ever post something on my YouTube channel or turn up in the media you might get to hear my accent, but right now I'm too busy convincing the chef I won't knife myself.
And no, never heard that expression in my life.Last edited by Anonymouswizard; 2018-05-15 at 05:14 PM.

On the politeness issue, I have found that only Canadian Let's Players will apologize to zombies or other monsters attacking them. Just saying.

Re: 2D8HP's extended mea culpa and Random Banter #218
Okay, that's a good one. I've never heard that particular response before.
Oh, geez. I like heat as much as the next Canadian (wait... I'm not sure if that's how that's supposed to go...), but that's excessive. I know my room in particular has that issue, and putting up thick posterboard in the summer really helped. (The fact that it's white still helped to let some glow in.)
The artists here on this site are really good at doing that. I'm always amazed, and sometimes feel bad about having abandoned my older adopted avatar to take on a non-stick-y personal. (But not too bad... I like this one.)
What? How dare you say hello in this open public forum? You should be ashamed of yourself for being polite, and acting exactly like this thread is supposed to enable (i.e. public random discussion). The nerve of some people!
...I definitely have never made apologies to inanimate objects before. Nope, not at all.Last edited by DataNinja; 2018-05-15 at 06:09 PM.

Re: 2D8HP's extended mea culpa and Random Banter #218
Look, it is said that many stereotypes have a grain of truth somewhere deep down. This is not the case for the apologetic Canadian; it's entirely true, 100%.
Honestly, it's a reflex for me at this point. High school was a nightmare for this; every day, each time I traveled from one class to another, it was just a constant stream of apologies. Doesn't matter if I actually slowed them down in any way, and it certainly doesn't matter if it's my fault or theirs.

I use braces (also known as "curly brackets") to indicate sarcasm. If there are none present, I probably believe what I am saying; should it turn out to be inaccurate trivia, please tell me rather than trying to play along with an apparent joke I don't know I'm making.

I have a shiny new avatar because Honest Tiefling is awesome
My completely awesome avatar (I call her Quill) has been generously crafted by the esteemed Honest Tiefling!
GENERATION 21: The first time you see this, copy it into your sig and add 1 to the generation. social experiment.
DEGENERATION 87: Copy this into your sig and subtract 1 from the degeneration when you first see it. This is an antisocial experiment.
Gosh, 2D8HP, you are so very correct (and also good-looking) and your humility is stunning.

Re: 2D8HP's extended mea culpa and Random Banter #218
Nonono, we are supposed to offer them tea and biscuits...
first...
...
I think I understand why this thread moves so slowly nowadays: People are slacking off on their tea and biscuit duties! How are we supposed to get new banterites if we don't bribe them with tea and biscuits?
The problem with that is that I really like the light. I style myself as some kind of nerd, but I'm secretly starting to suspect that I am in fact a highly confused plant. Like I'm really the son of a tree and no one ever told me I was adopted by this pair of human nerds.
The important question is, though, did they apologise back to you?
ION:
Today I heard a song from the Halo soundtrack play in the background of a radio programme about social class and class contempt. That was some cognitive dissonance right there. A pretty fun way to be jostled out of your morning routine, though. Forces the brain to actually boot up.
EDIT:
Ooo, shiny indeed.Last edited by Teddy; 2018-05-15 at 11:54 PM.

Re: 2D8HP's extended mea culpa and Random Banter #218
Where´s the problem? Back then, even the classes you gained with the best rolls were more than fragile in the first levels, so while it was damn cool to have rolled a Ranger or Paladin, you basically didn't attach to your character until 5th or 6th level, the range they were beyond being insta-killed by some abilities.

I just noticed the tags included apologizing. That made me smile. Can't believe I missed that.
Does anyone have a consistently bad day of the week? For me, never fails, Tuesday ends up falling apart. Always. You could make a movie out of my bad day yesterday, and the ending would be me finally settling into bed, closing my eyes, murmuring thank God it's over. And then the eyes shooting open again because I got a phone call from work.Scientific Name: Wombous apocolypticus | Diet: Apocolypse Pie | Cuddly: Yes
