Re: Request: Evil OOTS!
Holammer, you should seriously consider PMing The Giant and asking if you can do a random, unrelated Spin-Off in an alternate universe... This would be an awesome long-term project.

Re: Request: Evil OOTS!
I'm actually drawing this stuff as practice before I start work on my own OotS style project. This way I learn how to avoid the worst pitfalls by trial and error. Hopefully providing some jollies to other playgrounders at the same time.
Dialogue and layout is finished. Four pages in total.
This time I used bounding boxes to zone the panels. When I did the other comics I sometimes had some really time consuming sessions rearranging the characters and dialogue to fit in the panels.
This shouldn't be a problem now! The coloured boxes represent the standard size of an average character. Just a matter of adding background/characters/speech bubbles now.Spoiler

Holammer: Awesome work, man. I'm really impressed. Evil OOTS were superb and now? Intros are more fun that I ever imagined. You should really start your own spin-off... or little story at least.

Re: Request: Evil OOTS!
May I ask how exactly you're planning out the way the panels go without making everything along with it first? I tried to do that when I first started writing out my own little OOTS style project, but I had so many issues trying to figure out how to panel each thing that I decided to just let it naturally develop instead, like you can see here:
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v6...ip014p2lq2.png
The result so far has been quite acceptable(though I've been basically learning as I've gone along myself) but I'd still like to learn your technique, as I think it would improve my work. (And you've already taught me one technique of yours, your speech bubble stuff, which has been supremely useful. )

Re: Request: Evil OOTS!
I make the dialogue bubbles first. Then I move them around roughly how I imagine the panels might look to give the dialogue flow. At the same time I add borders. Now I'm also adding the previously mentioned bounding boxes for characters and certain objects.
When the page layout (text and borders) is finished I lock the dialogue and borders layers. The hardest part is finished at this point, now it's just a matter of drawing the backgrounds and characters.
I use a lot of layers (Ctrl+Shift+L). Sometimes an extra layer for special effects. Usually looks like this:
Dialogue (top of the layers, also sound effects)
Speech bubble
Border
Workbench (character layer)
Background
Bottom layer (The white background behind it all)
As you can see, I spend a lot of planning on my stuff. It works for me.
your method seems to be working fine. I like the improvement on your speech bubbles. I would suggest against using the wide panel showing everyone more than once. I hope you got some ideas how to organize your work.

*Bleh*! Finally! When I wrote the dialogue I had a good idea how everything should look. When I started work on the fourth page it occurred to me that I had forgotten how I intended for Z's new look to ... look like!
needless to say, hilarity ensued as I bitterly accused myself of senility for the last three days. Desperately trying to come up with a good look. I admit to calling it in just to get this done folks.Spoiler

Re: Request: Evil OOTS!
It's beyond awesome. My only (minor) complain is Z shouldn't have used some obscure prestige class, since every other member of the Linear Guild and OOTS only use core classes (well, except elan)

CapedLuigiYoshi:
No. It is Arcane Book Guy! CBG's jolly and nice alternative universe version. Whatever happened to Tsukiko I leave to you. I'm not doing another 10 pages to deal with that.
Yes, *that* Evan. If you don't know what the Yaoi dojinshi mentioned on the next page is, half the horror and joke is lost.
Fri:
I actually thought I'd make her a Monk. The OOTS-verse could use one! Heck I even envisioned scenes with Fist of the North Star style one-liners. But I had to bow down to Thog's reasoning about the group needing the utility of a caster.
Next I'll do a redone Elan. Try to get the thread back on the evil track. I also intend to make a small 4-koma style Crystal comic and post it on the OOTS fanservice thread where it belongs. The theme is "Yuri".
Here are some rejects for Z's new look. I had a hard time dropping the Miko theme. Definitely something I might pick up again and use for another project later.

Re: Request: Evil OOTS!
There can be, it depends on what god he follows. They fall if they "grossly violate the code of conduct" back in 3.X. In 4e however, they can't fall at all.
I may have to attempt this at some point... provided I manage to find a necromancer to resurrect my muse again.
I am awaiting this with great interest.

Re: Request: Evil OOTS!
God, I love your work. Maybe I'm a bit slow, but I didn't actually catch on that the magic book seller was Comic Book guy until the Metal Gear Solid reference.
Shame that you decided not to do a pressure-point striking, Bruce Lee impersonating monk, though. It would have been interesting to see a guy explode in OOTS style.
"You are already dead. In three panels, your body will combust. Attempt your saving throw. Psych! You can't save against this!"
Good Z being rather shy and quiet as a girl was kind of understandable. But, she seems to have a want to be unique, which I did not expect (maybe because of the fact that her original male character was a copyright infringement?). Speaking of which, I'm really starting to feel sympathetic towards Z, even though it's been all of two comics. She seems so sad and disoriented by all the changes, though really, anyone would react in the same way.
Sabine hugging that teddy was darned adorable, by the way.Last edited by RdMarquis; 2009-05-10 at 12:45 AM.

Re: Request: Evil OOTS!
RdMarquis:
Your suggested Kenshiro style dialogue with "dead in three panels" made me laugh out loud. Tears in my eyes, the works. Had I thought of that Z would definitely be a monk instead.
Prak:
It is difficult to make a halfling look interesting. The head is bigger than the rest of the body. Putting something on the head is the way to go. I put a similar cap on Sabine too you know.Spoiler
