Focused on tormenting the surrounding civilians, the demons don't see your approach, and your first attack is executed almost flawlessly. The demons Seri and Dwomak struck are barely managing to keep themselves in one piece with their wounds, but the other demons fall quickly in a flurry of swords, arrows, and teeth. Snarling in alarm, the smaller demons give up on the civilians for the time being and start to swarm you; the panicked common folk are starting to make their way out of the marketplace, and the demons take advantage of the openings in the crowd to rush up to you and slash you with their wicked claws.
The birdlike demons, meanwhile, are making no move to attack you. Instead, they have joined hands in groups of three and are cawing an abyssal melody--if a tune discordant enough to shatter adamantine could be called a "melody"--and moving their legs in a parody of dance.

With the crowd clearing up a bit, all squares are no longer difficult terrain; white squares are normal terrain, pale yellow are crowd squares.
