I think I'll try out this contest, too, I have an idea from earlier that I'll go with.

Re: GITP Monster Competition Chat Thread II
C'mon folks, they may only be animals but plenty of stuff for non-supernatural critters.
They also don't have to be from the material plane...

Re: GITP Monster Competition Chat Thread II
I have just been really busy and/or lacking in energy. I have known what I was planning to post from the begining, but, quite frankly, I am not sure if I will find the strength. Also, as I originally imagined this creature, it undergoes a transformation that will be hard to explain away without magic to my total satisfaction, but only ONCE in its life. Catapillar to Butterfly thing, but I am not sure if I can justify it without magic, given the environment it lives in. Actually it has 3 life stages, but the first two are hard to even tell appart except by behavior and size. The third is where it goes from a snake to a very fast lizard.

Re: GITP Monster Competition Chat Thread II
I, uh, am stuck. I really have no idea what I'm doing and I know I'm doing something wrong, because some of the stats aren't coming out right. I followed the tips and stuff on making monsters, but...I think I just need practice, and having a time constraint is making it hard for me to concentrate *does not do well under pressure*.
I may end up finishing after contest end. In that case, I'll just post it elsewhere and ask for concrit.

Re: GITP Monster Competition Chat Thread II
I've had a horrible case of writer's block and have passed on entering this contest. Since I'm not working on my own creation, I'm more than willing to help anyone who asks. We have all helped each other in the past -- telling each when there mistakes in the stat block and reminding each other of obscure rules and so forth.
You can privage message me if you'd like or post your requests publicly. I'm here often enough.
Lucy, if your stats aren't coming out right it could be that you are missing something. Almost all the items in the statblock are number based, so having the appropriate HD and abilities will lay out all the groundwork.
DebbyP.E.A.C.H. Please Evaluate And Critique Honestly. Being nicer and kinder doesn't hurt either. Note I generally only critique 3.5 and Pathfinder material.
Please, please, please when using non-core material, cite to the books. There are too many books to wade through to find the one with the feat, special ability or spell you use.

Re: GITP Monster Competition Chat Thread II
Bhu: I have--I bugged Vorpal Tribble, in fact.
Bisected8: I tried that, but it doesn't really help out with stats. I'm not sure what I should or shouldn't be giving to this animal.
Debihuman: That could be it! I started off guessing at how many HD to give it, and that may be part of the problem (though abilitiy scores are also throwing me off).
I'm just not sure how strong/hardy a small-sized grazing quadruped would be (no, it's not a goat XD).

Re: GITP Monster Competition Chat Thread II
Just my two pence, but grazing animals tend to be heavily built or fast (burrowers or flying animals tend towards other food sources). Since its small I'm guessing it won't be the former, so give it low/medium con and str and good dex scores (an average stat score is 10 for a 1 HD creature). I'd also give it highish wisdom (as it would need to spot predators) and charisma would be up to you (if its a herd animal, as many grazers are, then make it high, to reflect how it interacts with others of its kind).

Re: GITP Monster Competition Chat Thread II
Sry for the redead post... <__< how about a Fort Save vs Death/Con Damage when they successfully win a grapple check and hit with their bite... You could also specify that it only effects living targets...

Re GITP Monster Competition XXXII - Game Masters
Great graphic. Who's the artist and where'd you get it?
btw... I find the omnibus chat thread really confusing. Any chance each contest could have its own chat thread?

WOO my first post!
Also, nice bisected, [insert super mario 1up theme here]
I don't think it quite fits the contest's theme, this is more of a "chessmaster/trickster" kinda thing. the wunup is still cool.
