Re: Midget on a Horse - the epic saga
I said I would finish Pepin's adventures during the interim, and I have. Here's three Pieces for today (there are five in total).

Re: Midget on a Horse - the epic saga
THE SECOND SAGA BEGINS
Well well, welcome to the Second Saga! I guess this answers your question -skimmer- :P.
But wait! It is time for our first competition! And guess what? It's the:
CHARACTER CONTEST!
That's right, I'm giving you all the chance to make your own character (including image, but you don't have to worry about tapestrying it, I'll do that), the winner of which will star in a Midget on a Horse Extra, or possibly in the main narrative itself!
You all have two weeks to take part!
My recommendations: Thin lines make for easier tapestrying. If it looks medieval or fantasy based it will seem a more natural character for Midget on a Horse, but don't let that bind you - an extremely odd character would make for a nice contrast :D. You should know by now what works for this and what doesn't :P.Last edited by Fifty-Eyed Fred; 2009-04-04 at 04:33 PM.

Re: Midget on a Horse - the epic saga
Well thought contest, really. This certainly could bring here more readers.
But maybe it would be better idea to wait at least 3 weeks and draw attention by puting it in the title. As you may noticed, not so much people watch this thread regurarly....yet.

Re: Midget on a Horse - the epic saga
Dunno, I actually never started any thread so I can't even try to figure it out
But it is possible, there are artists who change title of their comic with each update...
By the way, the courtier on a pole was already one of my favourite characters, and now I know how he is called! Yay

Re: Midget on a Horse - the epic saga
You edit the first post, but you can no longer change the title after 30 days without the help of a mod.
Also, a character for the contest, none other than Henry Clay!
He must have lived forever, because he was a part of every major event for the first century or so of the United States of America. He is a master diplomat, and is also known for starting a war or two.
Here's the current picture, but I'll make a better one later.

Why thank you :D. I know what you mean though, considering GitP's traffic I get surprisingly little correspondence, so it's always appreciated.
Piece 5!
Get your entries in for the contest guys! If you didn't see it, there's a thread for it here: http://www.giantitp.com/forums/showthread.php?p=5957166 so post them in there! Szilard, you may want to repost yours :P. The new deadline is April 15th by the way.

Re: Midget on a Horse - the epic saga
Well I think some of that is because it doesn't seem like I want to post about trivial stuff in the thread because it seems kind of like it sort of derails the comic. Also, while epic, the story is a bit silly and it doesn't seem like it warrants long discussions and picking it apart. I'm sure other people feel the same way.
You get some comic threads where there is 15 posts for each comic that is posted and there is no way to know when its just some idle chatter or a new comic. Those comics also seem to be the ones where they get 8 comics in and then never get updated again.

Re: Midget on a Horse - the epic saga
Piece 6!
Luckily derailing it isn't really an issue since I'm updating it every day.
I know it's a bit silly, it's an intentionally quirky take on this sort of thing, but I have tried to sow as many little seeds of character motivations and stuff as possible (for example: Gerd was a far better planner and tactitian than he seemed at first, but only in long-term plans; he couldn't think well on his feet at all. I showed this in his battles, particularly in the ones against The Dread Donkey of Grywrdnedythfdhv and the final one) to make it more interesting to read.

Re: Midget on a Horse - the epic saga
Is the Witch Gerd's Sister? Maybe she's also allergic to Peanut butter.
Personally though, I don't see why anybody would want to avenge Gerd's death. He is teh noobiest!!!

Maybe Gerd's wife has cloned herself or something. Then she'd be powerful enough to control the orks.
