Re: A Quick Game
Gar
Gar picks up a loose board and uses it to poke around at the rags. With a sense of disappointment, "Nuthin' but trash..."
He turns back to the group and gives a nodding motion with his head, "We're wastin' time with this room."
Looking back to the hallway, Gar begins moving slowly and cautiously down the empty hall still holding tight to the brazier in his hands. His eyes scan the area looking for more clues to this bad dream.

Re: A Quick Game
To Gar:
To dwarvish eyes the hallway remains non-descript. The same yellow brick that comprises the rest of the place. There is also the other door, that you were originally investigating before the lady attempted to make things interesting.
Otherwise the hallway widens maybe 40 feet beyond the doors and nothing else seems of interest.Spoiler

Re: A Quick Game
Gar
With a quick snort, Gar moves to the old door and grips the brazier tighter. His patience was beginning to run thin with this game, so it is with a heavy hand that attempts the wooden door.

Re: A Quick Game
Everyone hears the fulcrum of the latch slide down its lever as the dwarf manipulates the handle of the door. However, unlike the previous door, the sliding sound stops short, signifying the fact that the lock on the door is still vigilant and performing its duty.
A quick rattle on the door indeed shows that it is locked fast and not easily budging.Spoiler

Re: A Quick Game
Gar
Stopping short, nearly planting his face into the wooden door, Gar turns back to the group with a shaking head, "No go, fellas...and lady. Anyone have any luck pickin' these?" His head leans back to the door, letting the scar running down his face catch the light of the torches.

Increasingly anxious to get the heck out of here, Jodin makes his way to the door. "Got your tools right here. 'Scuse me, luv." He lines up his elbow with the wood, leans back, and throws all his weight behind a surprisingly well-disciplined blow.

A sizeable crack appears in the wood of the door right next to the lock and handle. The crack appears to be about 5 inches long and runs parallel to the vertical edge of the lock.

"Gah! Son of a-" Jodin bites his lip, cutting off a long string of curses before they get started. Gripping his sore elbow in one hand, and wriggling his fingers to make sure they all still work, he sulks weakly away from the door-

Re: A Quick Game
With a resounding snap (and a resulting painful grunt from the gentleman doing the kicking) The door juts inward with a panel missing, still attached to the jamb via the lock. The door maintains enough momentum to knock against the wall it aligns with. The report of the heavy wood sends another bang echoing down the hallways.
Torchlight immediately displays a small twenty foot square room. Shoddy wooden shelves hold a myriad number of items. Clothes, packs, personal items and most importantly...weapons.
Each of you takes a moment to realize which of the piles of belongings is yours. Its like tasting a food you haven't had in a very long time, yet don't know the name of.

Re: A Quick Game
Teela
Teela stands very quietly while the others suit up.
Then she notices a tiara, off by itself. She walks over slowly and carefully lifts it from a pile of gauzy fabric. "I... I can't believe it," she says quietly, then louder, "I'm a princess!"
Placing it on her head, she picks up a dress, holds it to her bosom, and spins. Suddenly dizzy, she collides with a shelf and stumbles. "Sick princess. Ow."Last edited by Maurkov; 2009-02-14 at 12:28 AM.

Brandon
Brandon picks up his stuff: a shield, some weapons and a lot of lose stuff without a bag to put them in. With some difficulty he manages to store all the stuff on his body. He looks somehow more sure of himself now, but shakes his head. "There is still something missing!" he exclaims.
Turning to Teela he says: "Ready to be of.." catches her "...service, Mylady!"

Jodin, meanwhile, is pulling on a rather ridiculous green velvet coat with gold trim. "Nice."
And then, he finds the razor-edged adamantine blade inside the inner pocket. "Very nice."
And then, he finds the ludicrous hat that completes the ensemble. "Very, very nice!"

Gar
Looking about the room, Gar flips through several items, trying to find something that could be valuable to him.
Spoiler
Since all of Gar's gear, sans the mundane items, were all magical, he'll attempt to find anything that could be used to cover his body and serve as a better weapon other than the brazier.

Re: A Quick Game
Gar
Gar watches as those around him gather up clothing suitable to their tastes with a short smirk on his face. Flipping through other piles of clothing that is either much too large for him, or designed for something other than a dwarven gut, he stops with a grunt as callous look comes across his face.
When he thinks everyone is ready, he moves to the doorway and peers out once more*. Looking back to the group, "Are we ready then?" Without hesitation, he grips the brazier tighter and moves into the hallway looking for more clues as to the nature of this building. His eyes dart from side to side as he walks the hall, hoping for another door.
Spoiler
Not really expecting to find anything out of the norm, but just in case..

Re: A Quick Game
To Teela: Nothing greets your enhanced vision within the room containing the belongings of everyone. As you move to the rubbish room you are stopped by the presence of the dwarf in the doorway.
To Gar: You see a slight movement at the edge of your vision. It was quick enough that you only saw movement, not the object that moved. It is beyond where the hallway widens, so at least the 40 feet farther down. You hear no sounds out of the ordinary.Spoiler

Gritting his teeth together, the dwarf lifts a hand to Teela and her tag-along, "I think there's somethin' down the hall..." Without a word he moves carefully down making sure to protect his backside as he moves towards the movement while trying to keep an eye open to his surroundings for any vantage points he could use.

Re: A Quick Game
As you edge down the hallway, no other movement is seen. You get to the point where the hallway widens out. Instead of a simple wider hallway, you are able to see that it turns into a wide corridor with two other hallways opening up from it as well, parallel to the one you are in. The yellow brick does not extend into the corridor and instead black obsidian replaces it. The marble-like stone has a mirror-like sheen and serves to enlarge the ambience of the torches.
Also within the floor, you can see that the old brown-red blood line from the yellow brick drops into a trough that runs off into the darkness. The trough, however, maintains the sheen of the rest of the obsidian.
To dwarven eyes, a set of columns extend down from a cavernous ceiling. They stand at the edge of your vision, dark and ominous and large. If you had to judge, you would be able to tell that the construction of the immediate surroundings is not natural (obviously), nor was it done with any hands that you recognize.
The pondering of the change in surroundings did allow an immediate register of certain sounds.
Jodin and Gar both hear a dripping noise from the darkness.Spoiler

Re: A Quick Game
Jodin kneels down at the trough/bloodtrail apparatus, and tries to get as close a look as he can in the flickering torchlight. The sudden disappearance of blood was... okay, not as disconcerting as finding it in the first place, but still worrying.
Spot - (1d20+10)[14] Search - (1d20+6)[8] What's the deal? Has this place been cleaned? Does the blood just flow the other way? Does the first groove end with the second not connected at all?
