Final Fantasy: Crystal Quest

[Fawkes]

"There's Clemens, Halim's retainers, my girls, and as for the seventh..." He struggles to find the words. "Well, I suppose we'll meet him soon enough."

[Vox Clamantis]

Kormanser

Bouncing forward to bring himself into the conversation, Kormanser interjects solemnly.

Sorry to inform you, kupo, that Clemens is dead. Guards killed him as he was fleeing with a decoy.

[Fawkes]

Cagnazzo sighs angrily, but quickly regains his composure. "That won't affect my plan."

[Northforce]

Kuna strides along beside August.
"Ssir, who might this last persson be? Mysstery and ssurprises get me in a dangerous mood."
The remark is made in a non-threatening manner, sounding more like an operations guide for heavy machinery.
"From the way you ssound, you trust him, but I can think of two men who held that ssame kind of honor until recently."

Kuna steels himself for danger, keeping watch for signs of ongoing struggle or a chase.

"He's... difficult to describe. A bit of an oddball..."

Cagnazzo is interrupted by the sound of clashing steel from a corridor upstairs on the right.

[Verdigris]

August looks to Cagnazzo, and as he does so drops his spear into a guard position.

"Your friend, perhaps? Say the word and we'll even the odds."

He shifts his weight back and forth on the balls of his feet, ready to spring. Noting Kuna's watchfulness, he keeps a sharp eye out for ambushes or any duplicity as well.

Cagnazzo nods. "Let's go."

He dashes off down the corridor toward the noise.

Kormanser

Pulling a slim conductor's baton out of nowhere, Kormanser runs after Cagnazzo.

A rod didn't seem to jive with Kormanser's personality, so I'm re-fluffing it as an orchestra conductor's baton. Doesn't look like much, but it packs a wallop, kupo!

August is quick to follow, giving his spear a dramatic flourish as the party advances towards the fight.

Nowe keeps up, but always slightly behind atleast a couple of people.

Eunos draws his epee and dashes down the corridor to the sounds of battle.

[Fawkes]

The party runs down the corridor after Cagnazzo. As they exit the corridor, they are greeted by the sight of what appears to be the ending of a fierce battle.

The bodies of several guards lay scattered around the room. One still stands, locked in combat with Halim's Bangaa bodyguard. The Bangaa wields his sword in one hand, and holds the other hand to his stomach. A trickle of blood seeps out from beneath his hand.

Behind the Bangaa, the Seeq bodyguard lies wounded on the floor. One of the Vieras that had accompanied Cagnazzo is wielding his sword, but she doesn't appear to have any real idea what she's doing with it. Mocchi also lays unconscious, but she doesn't appear to be wounded. The other Viera sits slumped against the wall, hands pressed against a wound in her side.

The Bangaa strikes down the final guard, then falls to his knees, exhausted. The Viera looks up frightened as the party comes in, but looks relived to see Cagnazzo. "Oh thank goodness it's you. Who are these people?"

Kormanser

The urge to announce himself nearly overwhelming, Kormanser restricts himself to a terse

as he runs over to check on the wounded. His medical skills are weak, but they're better than nothing.

Nowe looks around at whats left after the battle... after a moments silence, he heads over to see if there are any guards hiding or any sign of more threats.

[Verdigris]

August makes a swift bow to the warriors.

"We are friends, of that you may be certain. We support the princess and her allies against the usurpers. I remember you from before--you were with Councilor Halim this morning, were you not?"

[Fawkes]

The tired Bangaa tries to speak, but he starts to cough. The Viera drops her sword and rushes to him. "Shh, don't talk. She turns to August. "Yes, he, the Seeq, and the Moogle were with the Councilman. My sister and I work for Master Cagnazzo." She nods toward the noble.

He steps forward. "Are you all right?"

She clasps her hands and bows politely. "Yes, sir. My sister-"

"I've been better."

Kormanser is able to diagnose the wounded, but is unsure how to treat them. The Seeq has been heavily wounded and is clearly dying. The Bangaa is pretty beat up, with numerous cuts and small gashes, but is still conscious. The Viera has one deep stab wound in her side. Mocchi the Moogle appears to have merely fainted.

Any potions or healing spells would be useful right about now, kupo!

[Verdigris]

August has but a single tonic to his name.

"Here--it's the best I can do right now."

[littlebottom]

Nowe walks over, "i havnt any potions... but im good with bandages and the like."

Nowe gets some clothing off of some of the fallen fighters and rips it into strips for bandages

Cagnazzo stays August's hand. "No, I've got this. You'll need yours." He pulls a few tonics from his coat pocket. He gives one to the standing Viera. "Here, give this to your sister." He helps the Bangaa drink another.

"Heh, thanksss." The Bangaa starts coughing again, spitting up a fair amount of blood. "Heh, guessss I need more'n a potion."

Nowe puts a firm bandage over the Viera's wound as her sister gives her the tonic. With a little help, she's able to stand. "Thanks. Still hurts, though."

I'm not that good with healing either kupo, but I do know a little about it.

Pomog steps up to the Bangaa and attempts to aid him however he can.

Nowe looks at the Viera "No problem, dont mention miss... erm, whats your name?" Nowe asks the Viera whilst still helping her to walk.

Eunos walks beside Pomog as he works on the Bangaa and watches the moogle's progress.

"And if this still isn't enough I can cast a healing spell on you and make sure you get better."

He blinks as he notices the Seeq's state.

"But right now I think I should help him out."

He walks over to the Seeq and holds his hands over him:

"Medicor"

A greenish light shines down on the wounded bodyguard, hopefully healing him.

Pomog is able to pick out a herb from his satchel that will stop the Bangaa's bleeding. "Heh, thanks, kid."

The wounded Viera smiles at Nowe. "Krjn. Thank you, I think I can walk now."

The Seeq's eyes open. "Ugh.. whut 'appened?"

[Verdigris]

While his friends attend the wounded, August leans on his spear, but remains watchful for enemies.

"So what is our next move? Would you be willing to discuss your plan further, Cagnazzo? The more information we know, the more help we can be to the cause."

Nowe lets Krjn go to walk on her own power "There you go, youll be good in no time, Krjn..." Nowe turns to his allies and suddenly acts very wise compared to before. "Proteus, habeas corpus!" Before sighing gently and continueing to say "Carpe diem. Iacta alea est... Friends, cry 'Havoc' and let slip the dogs of war!"

habeas corpus; leteraly meaning "you must have the body" but used to represent that a person cannot be held without trial/a person cannot get away without punishment (so Nowe means that Proteus will face his judgement and get his comuppance.)

these moments of Nowes wont come often. but he might make the odd comment like this. he is after all 57 and studied most his life, but his still young in Nu Mou terms.

Chara

With a still and quiet gaze, Chara watches over the group, though her fixation is mostly upon Eunos and Nowe. As the others work the task of healing, she offers a kind smile and soft whispers of fortune and blessings to them.

Coming to the fainted moogle, she dashes a sprinkle of water on the moogle's face.

[Fawkes]

Mocchi's eyes flutter open. "Kukuku... where am I? What happened?"

The Bangaa grunts. "Heh, you passed out, kid."

Mocchi rubs her head groggily. "Kup-ohh. My head hurts." Mocchi turns and sees Kormanser, and runs over to him. "Kormanser! Are you going to save the princess? You're a hero! Kupoooo!" She excitedly gives the actor a big hug. "Oh! Here!" She takes off her necklace and gives it to him. "Wear this, kupo! It'll keep you safe!"

The Seeq tiredly gets to his feet. "Ugh, ah feel like ah got run o'er by a Malboro." He turns to Eunos and hands him a small vial. "Thanks. Here, lemme repay ya."

Krjn looks to Nowe. "Here, you'd better take one, too."

Cagnazzo turns to August. "The princess was wearing servant's clothes underneath her gown. We had several of her handmaidens dressed in identical gowns ready to move. When Proteus made his move, Clemens and I each escorted one of the decoys, while the princess removed the gown." He pauses for a second. "We never would have expected this much violence. Proteus is a madman. Killing the Councilman and the Minister? Rabanastre and Damcyan will not stand for this." He looks back to August. "But I digress. The princess was to take a secret passage that leads out of the city. From there, she was to-"

Krjn's sister steps forward and bows again, more out of habit than any necessity. "Actually, sir, she was unable to take the passage."

"What? Why not?"

The Viera looks at the defeated guards on the ground. "There were... obstacles... in her path."

Cagnazzo looks concerned. "Then where did she..."

"She said she was heading for the roof, sir."

"The roof - THE ROOF?" Cagnazzo is taken aback. "Good lord, she'll never make it!" He turns to address the party. "We move. Now."

The Bangaa and the Seeq step forward. "We're comin' witcha."

"You've done enough. Take these three and use the secret passage to get out of here."

Suddenly, you hear the sounds of soldiers on the move. "Hey, they're in here!"

"Blast!" Cagnazzo draws his blade. "We'll have to fight our way through." He turns to the former bodyguards. "Well? Get going!"

They nod and head off down a different corridor. The Viera sisters follow.

Mocchi gives Kormanser one more hug. "Good luck, kupo!" She bounces off after the others, blowing Kormanser a kiss before disappearing down the corridor. "Kupo! Wait for me!"

Chara
With birght and amused eyes, Chara takes in the unrestrained whimsy of the moogle girl. From afar, Chara tries to whisper an occluded secret to Kormanser, but it's lots in one too many 'kupo's.

Blinking alert, she tilts her eyes toward the ceiling in dismay, "..The roof? While lofted, it is anything but safe, with Hiryuu's dragoon prowess or the armada of airships.."

Pomog

Pomog fidgets, not wanting to stand around talking while the princess is in danger.

" She went up to the roof, kupo? Hopefully she's still okay!"
