Re: The Throne of Thufir's Thoroughly Theoretical and Therapeutic Random Banter #116
I've spent a large portion of today tie-dying. My hands are now blue and after rinsing two shirts, I'm out of hot water and I have to wait to finish the last shirt and do the sweatshirt. But...I'm delighted with them. So yay!
I love tie-dye.

Sorry, silly me. Well, my joke would be like this:
One day, socrates was walking down the street carrying a huge spoon, so someone asked him: "Hey, where are you going?" "Eating at Plato's"
Now, Plato's name in spanish is "Platón" wich also means "really big dish"

Descartes walks into a bar and orders a gin and tonic.
He finishes it quickly, then pays the bartender.
"Want another one?" asks the bartender.
Descartes says, "I think not", and disappears.Spoiler<-I won this from Dr. Bath.Spoiler

A father tells his son the magic trick to dating: "Always ask about food, family, and philosophy. Works like a charm."
The son goes on a date, and the conversation ensues:
"So... do you like cabbage?"
"Not really."
"Do you have a brother?"
No."
"If you had a brother, would he like cabbage?"High School Harem Comedy, my original game system!

You seem to be very easily irritated. Like something or some things are constantly stressing you out, leaving you with a short fuse to deal with the rest of the world. Is a bit concerning.

Well, I feel slightly better now. My good friend from Madison invited me over to his dorm to play Mafia with a group of people. That game is quite entertaining. It brings back memories.

Re: The Throne of Thufir's Thoroughly Theoretical and Therapeutic Random Banter #116
Guess how I did on my probability test today.
I'll give you a hint: unless the answer to "Derive the probability generating function of a geometric( p ) random variable." Is a picture of a cat, I reckon I got zero.
Funnily enough, he told us exactly what the test was on and the example sheet had these questions at the top. Easy stuff really. I just couldn't do it.Last edited by Player_Zero; 2009-03-04 at 09:37 AM.

I got a 78 percent on a psychology quiz Monday.
Sucks.
Fortunately the class I actually care about...Spanish...is going great.

Isn´t 78% good?
Isn´t that almost 4/5th good?
Or is my knowledge of the USA schooling system failing me again?
And now off to the dentist, or mouth hygenist, I cannay remember which of the two.
Wish me luck, and hopefully I´l see you all again.

Re: The Throne of Thufir's Thoroughly Theoretical and Therapeutic Random Banter #116
So, in my (fethin' required) Communications class, our next speech is "Speech to Enhance Understanding." I want my topic to be on Eastern Animation, and the common assumptions people have about it based off of typical Western Animation. In short, I'm telling people why anime is awesome. I already have over half of the speech in my head, but there's one issue I have. We need to cite sources... three, to be exact. One book source, one Internet source, and one more of your choosing.
How am I going to find sources for a topic like this?

Re: The Throne of Thufir's Thoroughly Theoretical and Therapeutic Random Banter #116
This is a constant Secondary Objective that is impossible to take off the big list of quests in the sky for everyone.
Slayer_Draco: The Internet source should be simple enough to come across. As far as books go, I'm certain with delving you could find one or two that dealt with eastern animation and had at least a section on the comparison between it and western animation... As far as whether you would be able to find it before your speech/paper is due....

Re: The Throne of Thufir's Thoroughly Theoretical and Therapeutic Random Banter #116
Books--check the non-fiction arts section for books from movie-making companies, the sociology section for books on how media influences culture, or any book which supports the assumption that anime is an offshoot of Western animation, given that in the Internet circles in which I travel, such an assumption is unheard-of?
Websites--blogs from the writers of anime scripts, professional websites of the studios which produce them, universities hosting students' papers on previous research into the history of anime. NO FANSUB SITES unless they're included as "for more info, look here".
Are there documentaries on the evolution of anime?
