By the time you get back to the Green Griffon a lot of the villagers have left, only the ostler and his family (which includes his brother and his family) are still there putting things away. Shanna has gone to bed, but Captain Mile is still up joking with the friar.

The food here is excellent, Cold salted pork, sweet potatoes, onions, warm bread and good ale to wash it down.

That room is small but comfortable and you feel at ease as you take your armor and equipment off to get a good rest.

That night you dream uncomfortable, the worry for your master makes you mind ill at ease.

You are awakened by screams in the distance. Sitting up in bed, you listen and for a moment all you hear is the moaning of the wind and rustling of leaves. Then there is a Piercing Shriek from the hallway, and something thumps and fumbles at the door!

You spring to your feet just as the door gives way. In the Darkness, you can make out a horrible, shambling form that advances on you, claws outstretched, Your stomach turns at the stink of the thing in the room!

Important info: You are unarmed, with out armor, you can pick up your weapon and holy symbol as a minor action but there is no time to don armor.

"El Chupacabra," he instinctively yells. "Well, no matter," He reaches for his holy symbol and leaps behind his bed, casting shield on himself. Poking his pointer finger up, (as if making a "gun" gesture), along with his head over the bed, he mutters "Show time."

OOC If it's a monster, what kind of check to identify it?

The shape makes no attempt to avoid the searing light, from the flash you see the horrid decay of a long dead man in a funeral shroud. The corpse fumbles backward as one of his arms falls off.

Then moving forward with it remaining arm picks you up by the neck

With your last "shot" The animating force of corpse disapates and it falls to the ground motionless.

The Hallway is dark, and filled with the stench of the grave. You can other guest fighting for their lives, dressed only in nightshirts or robes. The trader Shanna is trapped at one end, fighting off two zombie, and you can see two more at the other end attacking George and his family. You can also hear fighting in the friars room, But Miles' room is disturbingly silent, though the door is ajar.

"Well dang." comments Seely. "I best go save that lass." He runs towards the Zombie, positioning him ten feet (or two spaces) from either one, and fires a blast at one of the ones striking Shanna. This one is a bit different. He attempts to shoot fire at the Zombie.

On a succesful hit, dealing (1d6+6)[11], then giving Shanna +2 temporary hit points. If it does hit, he regains a use of his Channel Divinity via his holy symbol. Then he'd spend an action point to use Channel Divinity gained.

With a blast of your gods power the two corpses fall down inert. Before you can congratulate yourself you hear a scream. Turning around you see george being held to the ground by one zombie as the other tries to rip his arm off. George is stabbing fruitlessly with a dagger at the one holding him down.

Shanna has a short sword in her hand "Thanks but Get Out of My way" She charges down the hallway and removes the head of the zombie attached to george's arm.

From Mile's room you hear a soft muffled scream and large thunk from the friars room.

You blast the last zombie that had his hand around the ostler throat if falls to the ground. Shanna rushes over to open the friars door as you enter the captains room, it is barely cracked open so it opens with only slight effort, another dead man has put its hand over the captains mouth, the captain is struggling grasping at the zombies arm and ripping off the muscles with his hand but unable to get it the hand off.

You know, we're trained in all sorts of undead fighting techniques, but I kinda snoozed between lessons... it seems some of them can be contagious, and I guess it's a fifty fifty shot when your dealing with them..." You head back into the hall George is being attended by his wife, his arm pulled from it socket. Another man who looks a lot like George with Shanna's help has helped Friar Nicholas out of his room, a gash on his right arm and on his forehead.

George blanches and cries out in Despair " That was my uncle! And there's Regil, The farmer! They were buried years ago!"
The surviors turn away, horrified by the grisely scene. Suddenly, you hear a whinny of terror from the inn's courtyard! Miles from his room calls out his voice dripping with fear "By the gods...window... I can see... The Town! The dead are walking! There must be hundreds of them!"

Your prayer snaps george's arm back in place.

Miles is putting on his plate armor, "I hope your wrong about this contagion thing, or where all going to be walking corpses soon, But I dont plant on going out with out a fight."

Below in the street, you cant tell which way they came from, it seems they've spread all over, you run to various windows in the inn verifying this. Though it seems none of them have made it past the ford yet and are mostly in the north.

George finally introduced his look alike "Me and my brother Marcus are willing to fight. Were not warriors but we will do anything to protect our families."

Shanna huffs "Fight where? Make to Lords Manor. Thomas Avergnons house is made of stone and a great place to barricade our selves there as long as possible."

Friar Nicholas: "Protecting the children is first priority, But we need to find out whats going on." He turns to you "As Priests we are best suited for laying these dead to rest."

OOC, This is a short rest, so at least five minutes will pass by...

"George, go to see if the stables are okay, I'll need Hark for this, okay. And Friar, you are gonna have to make sure any and all kids make it to the manor Shanna mentioned. But before that, Miles and I, as well as anyone else who thinks they can stand toe to toe with these... well, I'm not sure if they all have toes, see, zombies only need enough of a body to attack and walk, well, rather slowly... Now Vampires are something to fear, whoo hoo, I didn't read much on those but they seem like real..." Once again, fearing his talk a little unresting on the listeners, he quietly assures "I'm sure there are no Vampires. We can make it through this alive. As friar Nicholas said, we are trained to put theses abominations to rest. But I must find two people, one I'm sure is more than capable of handling this situation... Reginald, the mage, and then Montrel. I need to find Reginald, for he may know something about Gall Valla..."
Seely heads to his room and grabs his armor, spending a single healing surge and getting his claw on, keeping his dagger hidden though. He then rejoins the group.
"Oh, and is there a haberdasher in town, cause I need a new hat."

OOC In case you haven't noticed, he's a bit of a cowboy, so he'd like a nice cowboy hat.
