The cuter something is, the more delicious it is when it is mercilessly slaughtered and devoured. This is why kangaroo is delicious but emu is slightly greasy.

Re: Mrmud's Mixed-Up and Minimally Mechanized Random Banter #121
I enjoy rabbit. I have had neither venison nor bison, I'm afraid. Also;
Mary had a little lamb
I ate it with mint sauce
Red riding hood then came along
She was the second course.

But what would you say is cuter? Bouncy lambs or snuffly piglets? Because I'd say that snuffly piglets taste a lot better.

I'm going to say right now that lamb, on most occasions, tastes a whole lot better than pork. I like bacon, ham's okay, but other than that I only really enjoy roast pork. I like lamb damn-near-everything.

Re: Mrmud's Mixed-Up and Minimally Mechanized Random Banter #121
I LAWL'd.
I like it when they kill the animal slowly. The screams and pain of the animals really adds flavour to the product!
But in all seriousness, this is my view. Eating mean? Good. I/We usually eat organic meat. Why? Because it tastes better, it's healthier and the animal had a better and more natural life.
Do I agree with intensive/factory farming? Yes and no. I agree with it because we need factory farms to sustain the demand for meat, however- I disagree with some of the methods used in factory farms. A lot of it is unnecessary and wrong in my opinion.
However saying that, although I agree with factory farming, I think it's also kind of silly.
One of the reasons we don't have enough meat is because people are SO GOD DAMN PICKY about what they eat. Most people will only eat a specific animal, and a specific part of that animals. They'll deny anything else simply because it's different or because it's cute. Seriously, I'll ask someone: "Would you eat rabbit?" "No!" "Why not?" "Because it's cute".
Ahh, so it's perfectly okay to kill a cow but not a bunny because it's cute.
Seriously, in the UK we have pigeons, sea gulls, squirrels, foxes and rabbits that for some reason aren't farmed because people are too closed minded to even try them. If you try it and then don't like it, then fine.
But if people would eat different types of meat and different parts of the animals, there would be more to go round and therefore there would be more organic and free range farms. This might even lower the price of organic meat meaning more people would eat better healthier meat.
Eating a wider range of meat > More meat to go round > less pressure on the meat industry > less factory farms and more organic farms > Less tortured and weird mutated animals > Organic meat prices would hopefully go down > More people buying healthier and less fatty meat > Healthier people.
I could be completely wrong of course.

Re: Mrmud's Mixed-Up and Minimally Mechanized Random Banter #121
Lamb makes an excellent casserole, but better than a juicy pork chop? Hmm... we'll have to agree to disagree on that one.
You know what I find amusing? Farm animals have hit an evolutionary goldmine: their species is protected by humanity for as long as we breed them to eat. From a purely biological standpoint, they've won. Non-food animals, on the other hand, may go extinct as we use up more of the planet.
Also, if vegans had their way and everyone stopped eating meat, then every single food animal on the planet would be slaughtered. There's no financial incentive to keep them alive. You can't mess with economics.Last edited by DamnedIrishman; 2009-06-13 at 07:27 AM.

Actually, that causes the meat to become tough.
DI: Lamb chops are far superior to Pork chops. I...dislike cassarole. Lamb mince is superior to pork mince, lamb sausages are superior to pork sausages...Roast pork is superior to roast lamb, however, if purely for the crackling...Juicy, delicious crackling...

Oh no! Haven't you heard? The animals would be set free! Free into the wild where they will live happily!
Okay, so who wants to list the problems with this fantasy?
Actually, that causes the meat to become tough.
I was referring to the psychological.Last edited by Nameless; 2009-06-13 at 07:30 AM.

Re: Mrmud's Mixed-Up and Minimally Mechanized Random Banter #121
No to mention that because a lot for these animals are un-adapted for the wild they would be eaten straight away.
And who's gonna milk the cows?
Oh, and of course, no one would actually listen to this law. Humans naturaly crave meat, and those who don't want to become vegans would go and hunt these animals. I know I would.

Re: Mrmud's Mixed-Up and Minimally Mechanized Random Banter #121
The small meat animals are expensive to buy, also, at least here. For the price of a rabbit I can buy enough beef mince (American usage: ground beef from a mysterious type of shop known as a "butcher") to make the household thoroughly sick of it after a month. The rabbit would also provide bones enough for a small soup stock, but if bones are required, then the equivalent purchase of chicken thighs would also yield much more meat. The pickiness comes into it at that point, since I'm the only one who eats those, and they would last far longer than a month. Pickiness. . .liver. . .anyone know something to do with liver that alters the texture? The taste was fine but the texture I couldn't cope with. Home-made paté, maybe?

Re: Mrmud's Mixed-Up and Minimally Mechanized Random Banter #121
So ya'd think, but they seem to be inexplicably rare in the immediate area. I spent enough of my childhood tearing around the yard trying to catch wild rabbits on the grounds that Dad said, "If you can catch one, you can keep it". Boy, was he surprised when my younger sister finally cornered an ill and wounded ex-pet which had been turned loose in the suburbs.

Re: Mrmud's Mixed-Up and Minimally Mechanized Random Banter #121
I am personally not a vegetarian because I like animals or anything, Hell, if people didn't eat animals surely they'd overrun the world, that'd kinda suck. I'm a vegetarian because my parents are and so that's what I've been all my life. I'm fairly sure my parents became vegetarian purely because it was cheaper to get vegetarian food and ingredients than it was to get meat. No one in our family is vegetarian because they care, we're vegetarian because it's cheaper

Lol.
Well, if ever you start getting into meat, do it slowly. Don't just go out and buy a greaseball hamburger, you'll die.
Buy some cheap steak first and stir-fry it

Re: Mrmud's Mixed-Up and Minimally Mechanized Random Banter #121
I enjoy my steak well done but still juicy, or medium-well done. Either is fine, and delicious. Having cheese melted over it, with some fried onions, on a thickly buttered sandwhich? It's like sex, but your mouth is having it

Wait, you're vegetarian because it's cheaper, and your brother is now starting to eat meat at uni? That... doesn't make sense.
"Oh, I must continue being vegetarian at home, to save my parents' money, but now I'm an impoverished student I can buy the more expensive things!"
Yeah. Given the cost, I'm considering going at least closer to vegetarian when I move out. I'm stingy."'But there's still such a lot to be done...'
YES. THERE ALWAYS IS."
