    Trees don't provide cover, but give circumstantial bonuses to AC and Reflex saves when you share a square with them. The big ones block LoS however.

    ok dobbin has a shield in one hand, loaded sling in the other, lance strapped to his back,

    he spurres his pony to f5 then looses his sling (d20+5)[25] inc range penalty
    damage if applicible (d3+2)[4]

    harsh luck there, i made it a 19 to hit (pretty accurate with a sling!)

    just to give a chance though , ride check to guide with knees (d20+8)[9]

    jst re-read the ride rules, loose the use of the shield due to rolling a 1 :-/
