Level 6, 0 BAB (P.E.A.C.H)
I started out trying to see how many levels I could give to a character with core classes while still never gaining any BAB. Here is the slightly ridiculous result
Gregoran:Spoiler
Neutral good, male Human

Appearance: The man you see before you seems to be a Jack-of-all trades or perhaps just confused about what he is. Part arcanist, part holy man, part something else, he seems to be trying to be good at everything but doesn't look like he's really very good at anything. He's wearing a loose fitting traveler's outfit with the hood down.
Personality: Gregoran is always trying to be ready for everything and never quite ready for anything. He has an honest heart though and always does his level best. On long journeys, he is always careful not to over work Pingo, so he usually travels early in the morning, rests for 2 hours in the middle of the day under the protection of a 20ft tarp if no other shelter is available, and continues on til almost dark before setting up camp for the night.

Re: Level 6, 0 BAB (P.E.A.C.H)
You can add a level of Wizard on top of all that.
Also, you may want to include his known Sorcerer spells and usual daily Cleric/Druid loadouts. Y'know, for completeness' sake.
Start him off as LG, shuffle his skills and feats around, and then throw in a Helm of Opposite Alignment (and possibly a third-party atonement), and you can add a level each of Paladin, Assassin, Dragon Disciple, and Shadowdancer, too!

Re: Level 6, 0 BAB (P.E.A.C.H)
I'm sure that you can get much higher without having a BAB above +0. A Bard/Cleric/Druid/Monk/Rogue/Sorcerer/Wizard is ECL7, & from there, you could add on 4 psionic classes from the SRD (psion, psychic warrior, soul knife , & wilder) for another 4 levels. By then, you should be able to qualifty for some basic PrCs, like the aforementioned Assassin. And I'm not even trying that hard or using non-Core. If you bounce around through all the other books, I'm sure that you could cobble together enough dips to make an ECL20 character with +0 BAB. Just avoid the BAB=HDx1 classes & you're golden.
Look at what you've done. I'm not even an optimizer, & you've got me here tweaking builds. You got me good, you.Last edited by Zeta Kai; 2009-09-16 at 04:57 PM.

Re: Level 6, 0 BAB (P.E.A.C.H)
Doesn't each level add a "partial" BAB bonus for the purpose of multiclassing ?
Paladin, Fighter, Ranger, Barbarian
Base attack bonus equal to total Hit Dice (as fighter)
Cleric, Bard, Rogue, Druid, Monk
Base attack bonus equal to ¾ total Hit Dice (as cleric)
Wizard, Sorcerer
Base attack bonus equal to ½ total Hit Dice (as wizard).

Re: Level 6, 0 BAB (P.E.A.C.H)
Wow this got more response than I thought it would.....I had actually thought about adding a level of Wizard but it seemed kinda redundant with Sorcerer.....seeing as how this is an exercise in silliness....why not....I'll have to get back to you with an up date to the character which so far seems to include Wizard and 4 different psionic classes.

Re: Level 6, 0 BAB (P.E.A.C.H)
Well, if we're trying for ECL 20 here, you can throw in Ninja, Scout, and Spellthief from Complete Adventurer, Warlock, Warmage, and Wu Jen from Complete Arcane, Favored Soul, Shugenja, and Spirit Shaman from Complete Divine, Ardent, Divine Mind, and Lurk from Complete Psionic, and more from other sources. It gets too easy with other books in.

Potpourri Creation Contest III Best Characterization: Edward the Sly's Lucky Spells
Prestige Class Contest XXI Submission: Child of the Seelie Court

Re: Level 6, 0 BAB (P.E.A.C.H)
Cant have Monk and Bard, unless changing alignments half way through, which is just weird and DM dependant.

Re: Level 6, 0 BAB (P.E.A.C.H)
I actually have quite a few books that are more or less Core D&D. I might have to flip through them to see just how high a level character one could make with no BAB.
The only annoying thing with such a crazy build is trying to figure out all the skills from so many different classes unless you house rule that once a skill becomes a class skill for the character, any class can add ranks to it as a class skill.
Even without dipping into PRC's I think i'll be able to get well over level 20.
I can see it now, guy wandering around with an animal companion, a familiar, and a psi-crystal...with all these various classes i might have to just make him true neutral.Meddle not in the affairs of Dragons, unless you brought someone bigger and tastier along with you.

Re: Level 6, 0 BAB (P.E.A.C.H)
BTW if anyone is wondering how I came up with the ability scores for Gregoran. I simply looked at what abilities the 6 classes claimed to be important, I jotted down a 3 if it was listed as the main ability and a 2 if it was listed as also important to the class. When I was done, I just added everything together, plus 10 for each stat and Via-la
