    (Maths to the rescue!

    Aran has 11 defense

    The Ballista has 18 might so it would deal 7 damage on a hit.

    Wolf 1 has 10 strength + 9 might fangs so it would deal 8 damage on a hit

    Wolf 2 has 9 strength + 9 might fangs so it would deal 7 damage on a hit

    Soldier 1 has 8 strength + 10 might Steel Lance so he would deal 7 damage on a hit

    Archer 1 has 8 strength + 6 might Iron Bow so he would deal 3 damage on a hit

    Aran has 16 HP currently so he'd survive any two of these attacking and hitting him. He has 29 HP max so he would survive any three of them hitting him... or four provided Wolf 1 doesn't hit him. If you parked him on a forest tile, it would give him enough of a boost to survive all five hitting him. This all assumes that none of them crit of course. Also, I didn't take the mage into consideration since I figured you'd kill that one first.)

    (Possible, maybe too risky plan:
    Aran finishes off the mage, assuming he hits and takes no additional damage, he ends turn on E8. While true, both wolves and the soldier can then reach him, they ALL have to use the exact same square to do so, which is obviously not possible, without Aran killing one of them in one hit with a return attack.
    Anslem moves up, out of ballista range and ready to help with whoever comes up to hit aran)

    In any case, Jalnir takes the vulerary from Nathaniel and uses it.

    (Well, there is my idea right above your post. I'm thinking no healing this turn, and assuming Aran kills the mage, he moves to E8. If he misses, he falls back and Anslem moves to F8 and javelin's the mage.)

    (Yep. If only you had put that other forest one square closer, I'd have taken the chance, but given the lack of healing, risking ballista fire from a boss is not conducive to my long-term health. )

    (Yes, its not like Nathaniel could shove you into the forest... or you could stand two spaces back from the forest to deny the wolf the advantage it offers... or anything... That first one I wouldn't reccomend due to Nathaniel's health, but you get the idea =P)

    (note, in the woods, Jalnir has 65 evade, vs 107 (ballista) and 114 (wolf) hit chances, taking 10 from each if they hit)

    But if Rakken trades with Anselm then Aran trades with Rakken, you can be sure no one will be hurt by the wolf this turn.
