I don't want CoN to die! I've only just (hypothetically*) joined it!
*Okay, seriously. Somebody give me a clear, actual answer, please. Am I, or am I not, part of CoN. The whole "Ignoring me" thing is getting old.Last edited by EmeraldPhoenix; 2009-11-24 at 04:28 PM.

Re: ABR Discussion Thread XXIX: Where we talk about bears....
I was under the impression that there were at least a million.
And there ARE people willing to do CoN, so it's not dead yet.
Don't hold a funeral 'till you see the body, my grandpa always said. (Well, before he mysteriously dissappeared. According to his will, we have to consider him alive until proven dead. The IRS has racked up a large amount of debt under his name by now, so I hope for his sake he IS dead.)

Re: ABR Discussion Thread XXIX: Where we talk about bears....
Oh that one, well the setting don't really fit neither military schools, school records nor any other modern education norm like "not hitting the students" in my opinion. It's a high fantasy early middle ages kind of setting after all.
The "spoilt brat who thinks he/she know best and have a chance of surviving with that attitude" character just don't see realistic in the setting to me.
Unless the person in question is politically powerful/royalty of course.

Why isn't there a faction with a military school? There should be!

Re: ABR Discussion Thread XXIX: Where we talk about bears....
This.
Also, if there are books in this world, you can NOT tell me that nobody has ever thought of keeping any kind of records. They've already got paper and a way to write! It's only a matter of time!
As to the school part...maybe she instead stayed away from the law by doing it with the records of her existance? If there aren't any schools, fine, but there are still plenty of people who would want to get you in trouble it you're hurting people.
I mean, not in the "I'm a bully" way, but if they genuinely deserve it... I mean, come ON, haven't you ever had the urge to punch someone in the face? The only difference is that she follows through with it.Last edited by EmeraldPhoenix; 2009-11-25 at 12:53 PM.

Re: ABR Discussion Thread XXIX: Where we talk about bears....
Military schools aren't needed for an army and the training was usually obligatory in similar time periods.
Why would they use any energy on it? Just two hundred years ago the teacher could punish you if he didn't like you, records are only needed if he/she couldn't and thus had to write everything down to prove you need it.
Being that organised for the betterment of society and yourself (somehow that's the reason for school records, strange) would be a waste of time pre-socialism.
Schools or apprenticeship would make sense though, more specialised than modern day equivalents but certainly possible. So no need to change that part.
What if all the students and worker people knew she did it but she blamed others or was more trusted by the teachers? It would cause the same effect.Treasured Quotes
