Re: Against the Dragon: An ECL 20 Mini-Adventure
Disintigrate results:
Touch attack on ground (anything but a 1): (1d20)[15]
@Anyone on the surface:SpoilerA 10x10 section of rock vanishes, exposing a mountain of rock, formed into something vaguely resembling a human. It's like an elemental, but bigger, much bigger. You estimate your 10x10 block only exposed perhaps a quarter of the creature.
EDIT: No ready actions trigger (all are in response to the dragon, not other hostile creatures).
Turn is still Seto's. A standard action has been used.Last edited by PhoenixRivers; 2010-02-15 at 03:27 AM.

Re: Against the Dragon: An ECL 20 Mini-Adventure
Seto moves 20 ft south, raising his elevation by 5ft. Staying in the area after loosing a disintegrate is rarely a good move.

Spoiler
Every attack that didn't miss due to concealment, hits. Total damage sustained 166.
Fort save due to massive damage roll (from tail attack): (1d20)[12], fail on 1.
Ill post Ghrems actions once his turn comes up (last in the initative order if I am correct).

Re: Against the Dragon: An ECL 20 Mini-Adventure
@Massive Damage:
SpoilerMassive damage rules are not in effect.
At high levels, this rule is almost foolishness, and is recommended to be removed in several WotC sourcebooks for high level play.
Every PC and every creature in this encounter (with possible exception of some summons) is easily capable of doing 50 damage in a single hit. Giving everyone a 5% death chance on attacks? It's just not good play.
@Tehnar:SpoilerPer invisible combat rules, you are aware the location that the attacks come from. The attacks came from the south, over 5 feet away.Last edited by PhoenixRivers; 2010-02-15 at 05:48 AM.

Actually some attacks might have missed, depending on what sort (if any) of cover Ghrem has relative to the Dragon.

@Tehnar:
SpoilerAs anything underground can move through sand/dirt/etc with the difficulty that machetes move through houseplants, there isn't cover. Instead, the sand is granting total concealment, which is outlined in the 50% miss chance.

Ghrem, after resolving the damage you've taken, it's your action, and you're no longer flat-footed.

Re: Against the Dragon: An ECL 20 Mini-Adventure
Ah, sorry, thought Kagrenac took his turn before me, would have posted sooner.
Move action:
Move silently (full speed) from (10 ft north of D1, 30 ft below the surface) to (10 ft north of D1, surface elevation).
Move Silently (with a -5 penalty for moving full speed): (1d20+27)[30]
Second Move Action:
Move Silently (full speed) from (10 ft north of D1, surface elevation) to (H3, surface elevation).
Move Silently (with a -5 penalty for moving full speed): (1d20+27)[34]
IC: You see a battered, bruised and bloodied Ghrem emerging from the North wall. He is taking care to move silently, but points, at a 45 degree angle to the ground towards the west.
End turn for Ghrem.Last edited by Tehnar; 2010-02-16 at 10:07 AM. Reason: added end turn

Re: Against the Dragon: An ECL 20 Mini-Adventure
Theda/Terry
At Theda's gestures, the elementals spread out to surround the larger opponent, and whale away.
Terry burrows forward a bit and batters away at the creature.
Theda shakes her head as she glances across at Ghrem's battered body. She looks up significantly at Kagronac.
"It's up to you to save him, bud."
She changes into a delver, burrows a bit closer to the monolith, and lashes out with two claws.
SpoilerThe Elemental at H7-I8 takes a 5' step west and full-attacks the elemental monolith.
Attack1: (1d20+14)[21] Damage: (2d8+9)[15]
Attack2: (1d20+14)[19] Damage: (2d8+9)[19]
The Elemental at L8-M9 takes a 5' step north and full-attacks the elemental monolith.
Attack1: (1d20+14)[32] Damage: (2d8+9)[16]
Attack2: (1d20+14)[24] Damage: (2d8+9)[16]
Terry, still entirely underground, shapechanges into a slightly different delver, moves 5' north, and attacks twice. He now takes up F9-H11, and extends to a point 20' below the surface. I'm rolling his miss chances twice thanks to blind-fighting:
Slam 1: (1d20+27)[32] Damage: (1d6+18)[24] Acid damage: (8d8)[33] Miss on 1 (1d2)[2]
Blindfight reroll: (1d20+27)[39] Damage: (1d6+18)[23] Acid damage: (8d8)[37] Miss on 1 (1d2)[1]
Slam 2: (1d20+27)[29] Damage: (1d6+18)[20] Acid damage: (8d8)[39] Miss on 1 (1d2)[2]
Blindfight reroll: (1d20+27)[29] Damage: (1d6+18)[22] Acid damage: (8d8)[21] Miss on 1 (1d2)[2]
Residual acid damage from Terry's strike last round (2d6)[8]
Theda moves 5' north, shapechanges into a Delver, and full attacks the elemental:
Slam 1: (1d20+42)[60] Damage: (1d6+18)[23] Acid damage: (8d8)[42]
Terry is now AC 31 (flatfooted 30) Theda is AC 50
Listen checks: Terry: (1d20+14)[33]
Theda: (1d20+44)[60]
Spot checks: Terry: (1d20+14)[33]
Theda: (1d20+51)[55]
If the two earth elementals who went north aren't dispelled/killed, this is about the point at which they'd be turning around."We are what we pretend to be, so we must be careful about what we pretend to be." Kurt Vonnegut

(5d4)[13]*1.5 (18)
(5d4)[12]*1.5 (18)
(5d4)[13]*1.5 (18)
72 further damage.
And Lord Kagrenac will maintain his readied action, but also speak, There isn't a damn thing I can do right now, he's dead. We have to get him out of here, and then I can bring him back, but only if we can scrounge up 25,000 gp worth of diamonds. Alternatively, reincarnation. Kagrenac thinks for a moment, Well, Lorkhan does approve of shinies and making new life...
OOC:
SpoilerNot much I can really do at the moment. The Dragon is hiding from me (coward) and I can't really get underground. However if we do retreat, it's worth noting that I can use a Miracle or two to create 25,000 gp of nonmagical items (say... diamonds?) I think if 1 wish can create 25,000gp of diamonds then 2 miracles should be able to create at LEAST that much, but I'll leave that up to the GM. Then I can True Resurrect our fallen comrade.
