Re: Against the Dragon: An ECL 20 Mini-Adventure
Torvin will delay and cast timestop when the dragon is first sighted.
Give them bread and circusses and the plebs wont rise against you. Give adventurers dungeons and trapped chests and they won't waste time looking to ransack your home and kill your wife.

Re: Against the Dragon: An ECL 20 Mini-Adventure
Well, delays work so that you don't have to name the action. By delaying, rather than readying, you can do whatever you like when you choose to go, move+standard+swift, all of it.
So if circumstances change when you see the dragon, you're welcome to change whatever you like.
Seto's up.

Re: Against the Dragon: An ECL 20 Mini-Adventure
SpoilerBefore I post an action for Theda/Terry - I think that this is the round that the two earth elementals I sent off would be expected to be checking back in. Any chance I could get word on whether they come back and (if so) what they have to say before I post an action for Theda?"We are what we pretend to be, so we must be careful about what we pretend to be." Theda/Terry
Terry changes into an Yrthuk and flies 20' east, while Theda casts Freedom of Movement on herself and Terry and also flies 20' east. Theda orders the elementals to walk 40' south into the room.
SpoilerListen and Spot checks for Theda: (1d20+43)[54] (1d20+48)[50]. Terry now has 120' blindsight active again."We are what we pretend to be, so we must be careful about what we pretend to be." Kurt Vonnegut

Assuming your elementals are travelling to the center of the room you've been fighting in:
SpoilerNo new detections
OpFor:SpoilerMove south to Map section 3, surface. Dispel Magic, Area, on map sections 1 and 2 (at the roof).
PaO on the ceilings ends. Cave in occurs, 40' thick.
New Monolith: Run to map section 9 (end of initiative order).

Ghrem moves to N13, move silently (1d20+32)[43]
There he drops prone and with a ear to the ground listens for any sign of the dragon.
listen check: (1d20+39)[45] (favored enemy bonuses included)

Re: Against the Dragon: An ECL 20 Mini-Adventure
@Maintaining actions:
SpoilerIn order to refresh my memory on exactly what Kagrenac's Ready action was that was being maintained, I decided to look back to see.
I had to look back 4 pages and 100 posts (exactly 100 posts, oddly enough).
I'll be posting the initiative modifying actions of all characters here, for reference.
Kagrenac: Ready action: Defensively cast Time Stop upon sight of the dragon.
Kagrenac's Avorals: Defensively activate Empowered Magic Missiles on any dragon they see.
Torvin: Delay (intent to act immediately after dragon)
Other PC's: No initiative modifying actions.
I'll be reposting a map sometime within the next 24 hours.
Until then, we're back to Torvin, then Seto, then Theda/Terry.Last edited by PhoenixRivers; 2010-02-23 at 12:00 PM.

So noted. It'd have been a lot easier to find if you repost the actual action once every 2-3 pages or so.

Re: Against the Dragon: An ECL 20 Mini-Adventure
Seto takes a look around the cavern with his arcane sight. Using a double move to get to L11, followed by O7, descending 5ft as he goes. Leaving him in O7 at 10' Altitude, During his flight. his arcane sight should cover almost every sqaure of wall in the map, except a small patch around S20. If Seto sees anything out of the ordinary, let me know.

Re: Against the Dragon: An ECL 20 Mini-Adventure
Terry 5' steps to M13-O15 and readies an action to charge anything erupting from the sand.
Theda 5' steps to K13-L14 and readies an action to cast cometfall on anything erupting from the sand.
Theda orders the elementals to sink down 5' and move 20' south (to D14-E15 and L14-M15).
Theda listen and spot checks as before."We are what we pretend to be, so we must be careful about what we pretend to be." Kurt Vonnegut

Re: Against the Dragon: An ECL 20 Mini-Adventure
@Seto: Aside from the pillars and rather large portions of the ceiling being PaO'd (from sand), there is nothing you detect in the room that's not emanating from a party member.
@Terry/Theda:SpoilerTerry, in the form of a Yrthak, has a fly speed of 60 feet (average maneuverability). Average maneuverability requires a minimum forward motion of half your movement to avoid falling. Please reformat your actions to avoid falling on Ghrem.
Theda's maneuverability of (good) does allow 5 foot steps, although if you do, it must be in the direction you were moving last round (as turning or moving backwards require expenditure of movement). Alternately, if you do no movement, instead of a 5 foot step, you'll be able to execute a 90 degree turn. I won't be heavily enforcing this restriction on 5 foot steps in rounds following movement (for creatures with the ability to hover), however, so Theda's actions can stand as posted (or be altered, at your discretion, if you need to stay within a certain distance of Terry).
Source: SRD, Aerial movement
Perfect maneuverability bypasses all this, and essentially lets you move in any direction except down just like you were on ground. Moving down nets you double movement, so is better than being on ground.

Re: Against the Dragon: An ECL 20 Mini-Adventure
SpoilerPR, if we're going to start enforcing maneuverability rules, okay, but let's be consistent about this. Terry and Theda are both under the effect of Fly spells. If they have to move around to avoid flying, why doesn't everybody?
Theda will move NW to H9-I10 and Terry will move NW to H11-J12Last edited by Toliudar; 2010-03-06 at 02:44 PM.

@Toliudar:
SpoilerAh, he has fly? Fair enough. That grants Good maneuverability, which allows for hovering.
Issue resolved. Terry is 5 feet above Ghrem, not in his square. Play continues.
OpFor (DM/observer only):SpoilerMove to Map section 4. Cast Miracle.
Request: Greater Spell Immunity (Spells: Dimensional Lock, Whirlwind, Make Manifest(Mass), Enervation)
New Monolith: Double Move to Map Section 18, after Kagrenac.

Re: Against the Dragon: An ECL 20 Mini-Adventure
First move action:
Prone, with a ear on the ground still listening for any sound of underground movement.
(1d20+29)[36] +10 to that against dragons.
Second move action:
Get up from prone
Move silently 5 ft step to M13
(1d20+32)[33]
End turn.

@Ghrem:
SpoilerYou hear some sort of movement from the passage to the east. It's quite distant, and you can't pinpoint it or make it out, but you do hear it.
