Re: Dominic Deegan: Oracle for Hire, MK XXI - Death is not Maltak
The dragon is bound to bring up the prophecy again, and when it does it will at the least explain what it means. And when it does there's a good chance for Luna to get the praise she deserves in an explanation on how she made it come to be.
I'm wondering if the whole "dance" is meant to be metaphorical, or whether the arc will end with a cut back to the tent of Idealistic Orc Chiefs doing a victory dance when they appoint one of their own as Supreme Leader. (Probably Huk Thak, both because he been absent so far and as an impulsive violent loner he's perfect for the job.)

Yeah, Luna's talking to Mr. Dragondragondragondragondragon who apparently set up this whole charade.
It is unclear why he is the one in charge of fixing Maltak, but I'm sure he'll take all week to inform usLead Designer for Oracle Hunter GamesToday a Blog, Tomorrow a Business!

Re: Dominic Deegan: Oracle for Hire, MK XXI - Death is not Maltak
Mookie is definetly the kind of person who'll put dragons everywhere just because they're dragons. He'd find himself at home in the WoTC design team. Which means the dragon is in charge of fixing Maltak Just Because. Or perhaps Maltak's survival is essential to the well-being of the world at large. Seeing as it's Mookie's Mary Suetopia.

Dragons, orcs, dwarves, elves... I absolutely hate it when people do that seriously and unironically.

I don't know. You can do nice things with them. It's just most hacks don't, and you get the standard Tolkien Mash.
He fears his fate too much, and his reward is small, who will not put it to the touch, to win or lose it all.

I hate it when people blame Tolkein for that. He did it well, its just all the god damn rip offs fault.
As well, I can't hate Mookie's Dwarves. They have shining Paragon of Hope among them, and nothing will take that away.

Re: Dominic Deegan: Oracle for Hire, MK XXI - Death is not Maltak
Unlike many people, I don't have that much of a problem with cheap, generic orcs, elves, dwarves et cetera. What I do dislike is rampant dragon fanboyism, i.e. drooling over dragons because they're dragons. And Mookie showed us some prime examples of that, devoting two strips to show "just how huge these things are".

Re: Dominic Deegan: Oracle for Hire, MK XXI - Death is not Maltak
I'm not blaming Tolkien for it. Far from it, I agree that he's blamed more than is reasonable. But it is true that everyone else seems to follow in his style.
Well, not everyone. I remember reading the War God's Own series, by David Weber. Elves have PTSD. Dragons are powerful, sure, but they apparently don't see time as non-linear (plus, are only mentioned, like, once). And orcs, well, the main protagonist is an orc, and they're different too. Refreshing. He fears his fate too much, and his reward is small, who will not put it to the touch, to win or lose it all.

Or with James Cameron. "And there, there are flying mountains! Because flying mountains are cool! No, they don't serve any plot purpose whatsoever, they just look cool. Just like every other element in the movie."
That said, it did indeed look cool. Nothing made any sense at all, but it was worth it just for the eye candy. Whereas in Dominic Deegan, you can't say there's any eye candy to be found...Hark! An avatar drawn by Kate Beaton!

They served a plot purpose. They served the purpose of making the world seem more strange and unknown, as well as the stuff with the field blocking radar and such.
Not that I'm saying Avatar had an especially innovative or original plot, of course. (though it was executed rather well)5e Homebrew: Death Knight (Class), Kensai (Monk Subclass)Excellent avatar by Elder Tsofu.

I heard that the original script for Avatar had most of the unobtanium in the mountains (rather than under the tree) and the unobtanium floats in a magnetic flux field, so the mountains with the unobtanium in the flux float.
needless to say, this got changed. Probably by timeI like pie&&pie pie pie pie pie pie pie pie pie

I heard that the original script was actually much better than Avatar turned out to be. This article here describes most of the changes that were made.

Y'know what? I'm gunna call it right now and say that it's Rillian she's talking to, not the dragon.

Luna's Dress had led me to desire some LunaxQuilt shipping. If it's Rillian, he can do the Necromancer thing like Jacob and make her the Bride of Quilt.

New Comic
I can't say I like the design of the dragon's body. It just looks like a big crusty person with wings and a tail.

Plus, unless his wings are mounted on a turntable, they they're set at and angle to the rest of his body.
Plus, why is this "her success"? What did she actually contribute, that, say, a bag of bricks couldn't have?He fears his fate too much, and his reward is small, who will not put it to the touch, to win or lose it all.

Re: Dominic Deegan: Oracle for Hire, MK XXI - Death is not Maltak
Maybe it really is Rillian in a dragon costume. It certainly looks like a large guy wearing a mask rather than a giant lizard.
I'm hoping the dragon is being sarcastic. But it does increasingly look like I was wrong about the dragon actually explaining how Luna was the hero this arc, moving to explain some ancient conspiracy malarkey instead. Pity.
I'm also getting some distinct overtones that this arc was meant to be some mega-universe-threatening epic alongside arcs like Storm of Souls and the War in Hell. Did I miss something?

Sounds like Rillian's about to step out from behind the curtain and talk about how awesome Luna is for her unspecified successes a bit, then a couple panels of angst over all the nameless orcs who died.
When in doubt, light something on fire.

Re: Dominic Deegan: Oracle for Hire, MK XXI - Death is not Maltak
Maybe Maltak actually holds some importance to the rest of the world, but Mookie forgot to tell us how.
I mean, the land (that is the size of a backyard) only houses the plague-like Orc species.
Edit: Oh, wait! I just remembered that Snuggly was going to feed off the death of Maltak... somehow... and that would make Suggly stronger... I guess. Wich would enable him to give Hugs with much more ferocity.
