Re: OOTS #714 - The Discussion Thread
I like how the reptilian refers to V as 'it' in one panel. He doesn't really think highly of mammals does he?
It's like an old steam train, but powered on insanity and pain.

Re: OOTS #714 - The Discussion Thread
Mwahahaha! I nearly fell over with laughing.
But humor aside: I am dying to find out who these two are! Yet another faction??? Girard's underlings??? His personal enemies??? Or just some relatives with a grudge against V???
If so: Why would they take Elan???

Re: OOTS #714 - The Discussion Thread
That was hillarious. I feel kinda sorry for Elan, but the way he's been getting smacked around these last two strips made me laugh out loud.
And Blackwing's comment - brilliant.

Re: OOTS #714 - The Discussion Thread
They were both spellcasters. That meant that they were the most dangerous people in the party, and the only ones worth capturing. At least, that's what they think...

Re: OOTS #714 - The Discussion Thread
Wow! The comix are comming at a furious pace these days.
That was a bad hit for Elan, I hope he did not hurt his brain. (What am I saying???).
Are they going for V or Haley for the second capture...? The elf, I suppose, in order to take all the arcane spellcasters away.Last edited by Miklus; 2010-04-10 at 02:35 AM.

Re: OOTS #714 - The Discussion Thread
Haha, wow. Liking the two-comic joke.
And this seems to be some kind of curveball, plot-wise. Why would any of the mentioned affiliates of the dragonoids want some of the party taken alive, albeit beaten to a bloody pulp?
The plot thickens! I love it!

Poor Elan. This cruelty to bards must stop!
And I think this strip has the longest name in OOTS history.

Re: OOTS #714 - The Discussion Thread
I have a feeling I'm missing an obvious answer...but what was Elan's interrupted pun that started "brought the two of you to..."?
Clearly something to do with reptiles, given the theme he'd established, but has anyone figured out what he was going to say?

Funny.
Just a wild thought, here,but....
Girard Draketooth?
A Lizardmanish and some sort of dragon disciple? Maybe Girard's got a network of these or something.Strength through Intelligence!

Re: OOTS #714 - The Discussion Thread
Yes, but I think the question he was asking was why people seeking vengeance on V would take Elan as well, meaning Familicide probably isn't what provoked this attack.
Why do people keep insisting on calling him that? He probably either has the Half-Dragon template or is some entirely different dragon related creature, but has shown absolutely zero indication of being a spellcaster at all, much less taking at least nine levels in a (rather bad) spellcasting prestige class.Last edited by Hyozo; 2010-04-10 at 02:47 AM.

Re: OOTS #714 - The Discussion Thread
It would seem that Elan and the Halfdragonthingy has something in common brainwise - Let's just hope that E is as well protected, when it comes to having the first floor in the dangerzone

It's a bit of a longshot, but my money is on...
SpoilerHired goons of the Linear Guild. They have orders to take them alive because of Nale's obsession with gloating over over his foes, especially his brother.

Re: OOTS #714 - The Discussion Thread
So the target(s) was Elan and Vaarsuvius, and they talked about being lucky to get these two. Were they targeting other members of the order?
Of course, there are three or four possible reasons for all this, but I think the Familicide connection isn't one. My favourite theory that doesn't rely on something as yet unestablished remains as:
SpoilerThey think Elan is Nale, and possibly Vaarsuvius is Zzdtri, and they're acting on (ex?) Lord Tyrinar for something Nale did when his father "denied" him."They couldn't know that the points from the mainline to the siding were frozen, and the signal should have been set at 'DANGER', but snow had forced it down."

Re: OOTS #714 - The Discussion Thread
Interesting development.
Well it is quite unusual for PCs to get ambushed that kinda way. Now the rest of the Order will need to rescue them.
I somehow doubt that Nale has anything to do with it.

Re: OOTS #714 - The Discussion Thread
So, they're looking to capture adventurers. They don't need the rogue. Are they after the Order specifically? Then why not Haley?
I think all of our speculation may have been wrong. These guys may just be bounty hunters or ... something. Some new faction.
Although it occurs to me that they could be from Girard after all. He wants to interrogate the fools who've been asking about him so publicly.
If that's the case, I think the Order got fairly lucky, considering. V can explain their purpose clearly to Girard, and Elan can use his Diplomacy to full effect. The only thing that would make it better is if Roy was captured instead of V, since he's got an even better chance of making Girard believe him.

Heh, and Elan's flamboyant sword maneuvers amounting to basically tickling the HD...and answered by Elan seeing 'stars' ;)
