Snow animals
what are some animals that would show up in the mountains/snowy areas.

well, to be generic, dragons do show up everywhere. get a white dragon and have him collect frozen themed loot. heck, there are many good ideas for this kinda stuff in Frostburn

Certain whales as well are common in arctic environments.
But as for more land dwelling creatures, Ermines, Musk Oxen, and everything else that has been mentioned as well.
Depends on what snowy area we are looking at. High altitude? Polar Climate? Mid-Latitude? Equatorial? Those do have some bearing and could help determine more specific creatures.

Frost Worm, Frost Giant, Firlbolg, Polar Bear, Orca, White Dragon, Yak Folk, Frost Salamander all spring to mind.
