hiya everyone... it's been a while, huh?
'been dragged to a cousin's wedding yesterday, I mostly went for my father's sake, but the nagging hag also known as my mother forced me into a female's dress and heels... not to mention the hair... ugh...

Re: YOU! (A Picture/Media Thread): XXII
I didn't go to my prom either. I couldn't get a date.
Found out afterwords that this absolutely smoking hot chick would've loved to go with me. I was talking to her about it (she's about a year younger than I am) and her response was, "What do you mean you couldn't get a date? I totally would've gone with you to prom! ... as a friend."Last edited by Superglucose; 2010-06-11 at 10:09 PM.

Re: YOU! (A Picture/Media Thread): XXII
I would have asked you for sure! And we would have had a grand old time being awkward in the corner together
(Ok so actually I probably would have dragged you kicking and screaming into the middle of the dancefloor and proceeded to try to get you to have a good time by acting like a complete and total idiot in a pitiful attempt to make you laugh and smile. Also I probably would have taken one look at you and been all, "Eh, she's taken. No need to get shot down" and moved on.)
Also that's not all that expensive for a dress. Most people I know spent $200 or more >.> Also why do you have to justify spending money on a pretty dress? The only thing you need to explain is why we don't have pics of you in a pretty dress in this thread!Last edited by Superglucose; 2010-06-11 at 11:54 PM.

Who's to say I can dance? I look like an epileptic drunkard when I try to "dance." And I'm sure you like hiding your gorgeous smile and musical laugh from the world, but I'd find a way to coax it out

I was the same size as one of my ex-gfs, except for breasts of course. I had a better figure too, if I do say so myself

Re: YOU! (A Picture/Media Thread): XXII
Meh, you guys weren't really missing much by not going to prom. It's overrated and overhyped. Terrible music, music so loud that it's impossible to hold a conversation, dancing, having to see people grinding on the dancefloor. All things I do not enjoy.
Afterprom wasn't that great either, which is why I left with my date and another friend to go wandering around the city at 3:00 in the morning. CVS is pretty much the only place open at that ungodly hour, so that is why there is a picture of me in a CVS wearing Barbie sunglasses.
Still, I'm glad I went.

It's formal time soon...apparently our principal has banned slow dancing (!). Hate to see what she's gonna do with the grinders.

My prom didn't have a slow dance either for some reason.
Which was kind of annoying, because slow dancing is pretty much the only kind of dancing I can actually do.

Re: YOU! (A Picture/Media Thread): XXII
Told you so .
...I...what?
My Formal didn't have a slowdance (Nothing but terrible ravemusic. This from someone who likes electronic music.) but that was because the students picked the music.
I've never heard of a Formal with slowdancing banned by the principal. That just seems...contrary to everything I've ever heard teachers/principals say about Formals.

Re: YOU! (A Picture/Media Thread): XXII
I never got the whole prom thing. The entire thing seems really ridicules to me, not the prom itself, but the entire philosophy behind it. You HAVE to get a date for it, if you don’t you either don’t go or turn up single and ashamed for some reason. Everyone seems to feel the need to spend a ton of money on either a dress or tux they’re only going to wear once and then of course, you must dance. Because if you don’t, you’re a looser. *nod nod* I didn’t even bother with mine, I was just amused watching how everyone got so worked up about it. Can't you just have a party? Seems far less stressful.

Re: YOU! (A Picture/Media Thread): XXII
American 'proms' are silly then. My year 12 formal was awesome. Good music, fun dancing, good food, and a good band (although I was the drummer so I may be biased).
@Lioness: Huh, my formal didn't have slow dancing, not much grinding either though.
@Nameless: You don't have to have a date...Quite a few guys from my formal just went with other guys from the year level (in a non homosexual way as well, although the jokes were made in jest). Maybe we were just a mature year level...Dunno.
You can also just hire a suit (what I did) and you don't really have to dance (I did very little, although I was playing the music for two of the best dancing songs of the night).
Maybe Australian's are just more awesome in that way, or something like that. I dunno.Last edited by Dispozition; 2010-06-12 at 03:46 AM.

Re: YOU! (A Picture/Media Thread): XXII
^: Indeed. Not supposed to stag if you can help it. If you can't get a date that you're going to get laid with, you should at least be going with a mixed sex group of friends, making the pre-prom dinner more enjoyable since you're breaking bread with a big table gathering of your compatriots from the past 4+ years. Ok, so you're supposed to settle for a non-saucy date, but I never saw what would be preferable from a platonic date when compared with an entourage of friends if that option was available. Since, hey, WHEN do you get the opportunity to be an entourage in normal life?
If you get dates at all, you'll have plenty of dates in this life that aren't going to give you a bloody thing and who having your photo taken with for an overpriced amount won't do you or your parents jack.
So... I actually ended up having a rose stuck in my hair all day today while I was out and playing DnD... It sorta went all wilty in there too... *shudder*

She apparently decided to get revenge on me for doing this to her and did it to mine.

Re: YOU! (A Picture/Media Thread): XXII
I actually kind of agree. Although as for the tux thing, personally, I kind of like dressing up. I don't get a chance to wear fancy clothing very often. And I'm fairly certain that the girls do it because they like doing it, not because they feel like they have to. The "go with a date or you're a loser" thing doesn't really apply for my school either, given that everyone pretty much ends up in a giant amorphous oscillating fleshmoeba on the dancefloor. But I do agree that a regular party would be more fun.
That does sound better. We had a DJ, not a band. Who happened to play crappy rap/pop. I'm almost positive that even the people who like dancing to it don't like listening to it.
My views on prom are definitely skewed by the fact that I don't really like dancing, though.

My prom was fine. Didn't have to go with a date, we had a jazz band for the first half of the night, then a DJ who played good music, I didn't notice any grinding.
But then my school was just generally awesome."'But there's still such a lot to be done...'

Aye, I'm not fond of proms, which is why this year our year have organised a Ball instead. Basically there is food, a casino etc. so things to do, and of course dressing up is expected. ^_^ (I'm going white tie with a tophat and a cane)

My formal was eh. Okay. My dad came all the way down for it, so that was nice
We had "tables", rather than "dates". I think we were arranged on different tables, several people to a table, and you could take several guests. I had my parents and... I'm thinking my ex, but that might've been some other event. I also had my pregnant friend, I think. Hrm... I think I'm mixing up my events... I'll have to think about it. Anyway, parents and at least one friend on my table. Afterparty was more interesting. The Iron Avatarist Hall of Fame!
