Maybe it was an oversimplification, maybe it wasn't. But it looked like you could use a compliment, and I never give false compliments.

Re: Relationship Woes and Advice: The Thirteenth Woerier
I aim to astound
That being said, try your best, sir. From the sound of things, she's officially trying to use you now, and that's just not a fun situation to be in, whether you know and accept said situation or not.
Moot point anyway. After he told her that he didn't love her and probably never would, she let herself be un-dumped. So, I guess she's as delusional and desperate as I am?

Re: Relationship Woes and Advice: The Thirteenth Woerier
Emphasis mine. My specific question now is, whobuhwha???!!! ....HOW DOES THAT WORK?!
Seriously, FemalesitP, answer this question rat meow. This makes absolutely no sense, not one whit of it, and I'm so very sick and tired of seeing it happen. PLEASE, for the love of... of whatever you happen to hold sacred, somebody explain how this works without powerful hallucinogens.Amazing Mountain King avatar courtesy of the remarkable Starwoof!

Re: Relationship Woes and Advice: The Thirteenth Woerier
Eadin, I'm a flaming-gay, misogynist hermit* on account of believing that all people are hypocritical, selflish, and weak-willed liars, and that women are the worst of the lot because of their looks (you can't trust a beautiful woman, and the better they look, the more you can't trust them), and I like you!
What chance does a straight man got?
*SpoilerNo, not really.
You say those things like they were bad...
To be fair, most people wouldn't notice your ego because they would be dazzled by your looks.
In the meantime, may I interest you in some of my patented Ego!(TM)* pills, guaranteed to inspire confidence, enhance self-esteem, and compliment your eyes.
* Side effects may include megalomania, grandiose speeches, promoting syphocantic behavior in spineless lackeys, and attracting the attention of mettlesome super-agents. Ego! may not be for everyone, consult your doctor before using Ego! as directed. If you are pregnant, nursing, clutching, hatching, nesting or spawning, you should not use Ego! unless you are planning on world-destruction instead of world-domination.1. Have fun. It's only a game.

4. Everyone is allowed an opinion. Some games are not as cool as they seem.

Re: Relationship Woes and Advice: The Thirteenth Woerier
And probably wants to get out! I've known women to marry just to get out. Still, if she has a guaranteed crash pad, then yes it becomes a matter of no sense of self independent of being in a relationship, and the pain of no sense of self being worse to endure than the pain of loving a contemptuous man, which pain she would've gotten from either of you.

Re: Relationship Woes and Advice: The Thirteenth Woerier
In the interests of appearing properly concerned, I first have to ask if you are pregnant, nursing, clutching, hatching, nesting or spawning.
*looks at Ego! pills*
*sigh*
Talk about lousy timing...
*puts Ego! pills away*
Seriously though, MK, it's not that hard.
She's afraid.
The need to be attached to someone, of confusing sex and love, of having next to no self-esteem or believe in self-worth has Marillion's ex doing things that will hurt her more in the long-run because they hurt less in the short-run. Much like Marillion (by his own admission), she probably recognizes the self-destructive behavior but cannot bring herself to refuse this man who uses her so. Marillion and her getting back together is just as bad for Marillion as staying with this man is for her.
"This decision hurts, but I'm going to do it anyway."
It's like getting your leg caught in a bear trap but not having the courage to gnaw it off (or, in Marillion's cause, being lured into the bear trap). It only seems worthwhile because she can't see any better option or refuses to admit that an option she does see is better.
@ Marillion - Just keep telling yourself, "This woman hurt me". And remember that she'll do it again unless she significantly changes her ways.1. Have fun. It's only a game.

Re: Relationship Woes and Advice: The Thirteenth Woerier
So where's the signup sheet then?
Well, see, the thing about this life is, you're going to run into people who aren't going to like you. Only having about 5 people who you're on truly bad terms with before you're 21 isn't too shabby.
Well, sexual harassment is bad regardless of whether it's a single individual or an entire group doing it piecemeal or in concert.
Eh. Just remember she's broken and a threat to herself and others, Marillion.

Re: Relationship Woes and Advice: The Thirteenth Woerier
Well, that tears it, Umael. Starting now, every time I hear tell a female has done this ridiculous thing, I'm giving them a time-out. Starting now. If anyone needs me, I'll be over here, dying alone, because I'm so busy giving out time-outs to women who make ridiculous decisions.
*scribbles out a note, hands it to Marillion*
Here's the time-out for the female in question. In fact, you might want to do that. Write her a time-out, and carry it around, and next time you see her, put her in time-out.
Childish? Ooooooh dear me YES. Hilarious, and probably an extremely good way to start some kind of argument? Yeah, that too.
...But hey, it just might work. Women seem to universally hate being told they're wrong.Amazing Mountain King avatar courtesy of the remarkable Starwoof!

Oh, that was a beautiful reaction.
Thank you, Eadin, I literally laughed until I had tears in my eyes.
(I guess it IS true. If I'm not causing getting into trouble, I don't know what to do with myself.)
((Seriously, you can always say "no" to those questions, Eadin.))
(((Also, I thought you said earlier that you weren't the type that got shocked. Or what that, you weren't the type to blush. I forget. EDIT - nevermind, you apparently were being facetious. Carry on.)))Last edited by Umael; 2010-07-11 at 12:36 PM.

Re: Relationship Woes and Advice: The Thirteenth Woerier
Aside from that it's sentient beings that universally hate being told they're wrong, and not just women, MountainKing may actually have some great advice. And since it's not just women who might benefit from it, and because it will lessen the blow quite a bit if you hand one to yourself at the same time as you hand one to her, make one for yourself Marillion--just put Umael's advisory sentence on it instead. (Yeah, contemptuous. . .You'd be doing it because she'd earned it from you, he'd be doing it out of bloody-mindedness, but from the receiving angle it'll all look the same.)

Re: Relationship Woes and Advice: The Thirteenth Woerier
Given my predisposition towards getting myself in trouble for the laughs, I have to approve of this method.
...But hey, it just might work. Women seem to universally hate being told they're wrong.
Also, unlike men, women hate being told they're wrong because they actually are. Whereas men are just supposed to accept that they are wrong, even if they aren't.
