Re: Keychain of Creation IV: The Lore Thing
Exalts are humans. The Exaltation can't attach to anything but a pair of human souls.
Also! The Great Curse manifests in Terrestrials basically as a personality quirk - Fire-aspects are prone to fits of passion, for example. It has no mechanical effect because it barely affects them at all.

Re: Keychain of Creation IV: The Lore Thing
So I have this comic to blame for finally caving in and getting a few of the books.
God damn but Creation is one messed up place. And I haven't even gotten to some of the more blatantly bad things I see people discussing, like the Neverborn, or Yozis.
A question that's been bothering me after reading the Sidereal book:
Spoiler
So if there's a god for everything that exists, where exactly is the patron deity of the Realm itself? Everything I've read about the gods so far indicates that they can't help but meddle with anything that affects the well-being of their portfolio, and one would imagine that someone overseeing the well-being of the Blessed Isle would be THE major player in the Time of Tumult - especially given the amount of power such a god would logically wield. And yet there's no mention of him (her? it?) anywhere that I can find? So where is he? Does Chejob keep him locked in his basement or something?
Let's Play: Space Empires IV (complete)

Yeah, it should've been "Noone asked mortals about their opinion on the sbuject". Not sure why I typed "humans" instead.

Re: Keychain of Creation IV: The Lore Thing
It still requires both to attach in the first place. Otherwise, you'd have hungry ghost Exalts, which would be a bad thing to say the least. And animals Exalting is something that could happen in the sense that "if every single mortal in Creation is dead, Lunar Exaltations might take on animal hosts".

Re: Keychain of Creation IV: The Lore Thing
I are confused now.
I thought learning necromancy prohibited you from mastering sorcery to it's utmost, and vice versa. Yet misho knew necromancy, and today's... comic? Story? Thingamadoodle? implies he also learned Solar Circle Sorcery.

Re: Keychain of Creation IV: The Lore Thing
That's a common idea, but it's not true. People get confused because Abyssals, who can learn Void Circle necromancy, can't learn Solar Circle Sorcery, and vice versa for Solars. It's not something that happens to you when you learn, it's an innate limitation to the Exalt types.
But a Solar could learn all three sorcery circles as well as two necromancy circles.

Re: Keychain of Creation IV: The Lore Thing
That was a fluff passage spiked into the original glossary that never quite made it into anything further. Solars can learn Solar Circle Sorcery and Labyrinth Circle Necromancy. Abyssals can learn Void Circle Sorcery and Celestial Circle Sorcery.
Also, that was First Age Misho, not current Misho.Last edited by Kyeudo; 2010-10-01 at 12:11 AM.

Re: Keychain of Creation IV: The Lore Thing
I'm glad you mentioned that. It's pretty much what I recalled, too: learning a level of one "reduced" the maximum level you could learn of the other (ex: A Solar with a Shadowlands initiation could gain a Terrestrial and Celestial initiation, but not a Solar one) .
I went poking around for more information. The discussion in this thread suggests that's just a holdover from first edition, put into the main book's lexicon before they'd actually gotten the rules down for necromancy. If that's right, then there's no problem with Misho having mastered the Adamant circle of sorcery, and up to the Labyrinth circle of necromancy.
EDIT: And ninja'd by Kyeudo the Swift.
DOUBLE EDIT: Who came pre-ninja'd by Jukashi himself. ^_^o
Though it should be pointed out that Jukashi suggested Misho still has his old initiations kicking around. Mentioned in the blurb for this comic:

Cursed flavor text messing with me!
Also, never underestimate the value of ignorance in getting you through the day without a hideous breakdown/manic obsession. (Golentan does not in fact advocate the use of ignorance as a life choice).

Ahh, Laplace's demon.
I wonder how able he was to quantify how bad of a decision what he did was.
Also, how that could actually work without him becoming aware of things like the curse or the usurpation.

Re: Keychain of Creation IV: The Lore Thing
I get the feeling it was less omniscience and more a Total Perspective Vortex, except that because this is Creation and the user was a Solar Hero Vassal, the big picture actually ended up showed him how important he was rather than how unimportant he was.

Re: Keychain of Creation IV: The Lore Thing
These texts never fail to impress me.
He sacrificed his ignorance? That's... just...
I don't know if that's cheesy or a fast way to get terminally insane. Or wait, I do in fact. Poor Thrice-Radiant.
So his radiances were considered to be sorcery, memory and swordsmanship, or alternatively insight, charisma and compassion. Given that the previously suggested combo was sorcery, charisma and swordsmanship, we weren't taht far off the mark!Quoth the raven, "Polly wants a cracker."

Re: Keychain of Creation IV: The Lore Thing
Amazing stuff I don't even have any snarkery, this is just awesome.
Are the odds low that the Ever-Living Sword of Thrice-Radience will show up in 'modern times'? I really don't want this to be a Chekov's Gun that completely invalidates the last battle of the comic.Originally Posted by Gort, Lord of Hellfire

Re: Keychain of Creation IV: The Lore Thing
The solution is simple: don't make it a Chekov's gun that makes the final fight too easy for the protagonists. Make it a Chekov's gun that makes the final fight possible for the protagonists, instead of a insta-hosed, no saving throw affair.

Re: Keychain of Creation IV: The Lore Thing
The all texts are my favourite pages, probably because they're so rare and contrast so well against the rest of the strips, I especially like the story perspective for this one.

Re: Keychain of Creation IV: The Lore Thing
So why does the Lion want the sword? He's already dead and immortal. The properties of the sword isn't (as far as we know) in that it's a very powerful weapon as such, it lies in it's life-preserving qualities.
Since when does the Deathlords want to preserve life?Quoth the raven, "Polly wants a cracker."

Re: Keychain of Creation IV: The Lore Thing
He wants it for the same reason I don't want Misho to have it: it's an anti-death-magic "I Win" item. If Misho gets his grubby mitts on it, and it still works like the legend claims, then Misho will be an immovable object against The First and Forsaken Lion's unstoppable force.
