The cat is someone's familiar. Sorcerers are the only beings that have familiars.

Rana's magic is odd. It brings to mind forests untouched by human hands, waterfalls sparkling in the moonlight, a lone predator, hunting in the darkness. Druidic magic. Not arcane, not derived from the blessings of the gods. The priesthood doesn't think much of it (as in, they tend to try to kill druids).

For some reason I already had the feeling that "Kill them all" was the official position on Druids . Unfortunately there is the fact that Audric has adopted Rana as an unofficial niece of sorts, so I think we'll skip the lynching.

Audric takes another step closer "Be careful. That's not a normal cat." he whispers to Rana. He himself has tensed up, hand close to his longsword, looking around in case the cat's master decides to show up.

Antal does as she asks, but once inside, casts Protection from (Evil) Arcane on himself. Following her, Antal asks, first off, How long have you had the power?

The red-haired woman shakes her head. "It's not my cat, thankfully. It's a contrary little beast in my opinion." She turns down a short, dark, hallway which smells of foul alchemical substances and opens the door at the end. "Oy, Irena! That bloody moons-damned mongrel of yours has just met up with a paladin!"

A tall, stately human lady comes out of the room and shuts the door carefully behind her. Her brown hair is coiled into a neat bun, and she wears a long blue dress. "Thank you for telling me, Tracy." She nearly bumps into you, then crouches, so that her eyes are on the same level as yours. "Who are you and what are you doing in my home?" she snaps. Her voice is oddly distorted.

"It is always good to meet someone who sympathizes with our cause. But you have to be willing to make sacrifices." Irena says, locking the door. "I do not know who told you of us. Frankly, I don't care anymore. We always need new recruits, around here. Not many of us can blend in. We have all of three squads here on a good week, and right now we have only three others here, not counting that moron, Lieran. If he wasn't friends with the Commander, I don't think he'd have ever gotten a command position."

"Which might explain why Llaars could understand it, even though it was speaking cat." Rana seems to be thinking aloud. She then pauses, as if considering whether to say something. "So, ah, if there was a sorcerer around, what would you do?"
