Re: GitP/ChHa Server Thread IV: For Science. You Monster.
What if Djinn leaves by the time he connects? Its happened to me before when I connect to a server a friend is on and find that that they've already left by the time I'm there.

Re: GitP/ChHa Server Thread IV: For Science. You Monster.
Djinn and I have discussed the situation and the proposal is the final ruling, with one addition: Nightclaw is also allowed to be on the server when I am present. This means that when Djinn or I are there, we are in charge of enforcing the rules we have set for him.
As for the "joining when we're not present" situation, just be a little lenient before you impulse ban him. If he joins, let him know that neither Djinn or Mario are on the server and he should leave. If he doesn't, feel free to deal with the situation.Writings and music:

When I get around to unlocking it, I will use it ALL THE TIME.
I write a gaming blog. It also hosts my gaming downloads:

Re: GitP/ChHa Server Thread IV: For Science. You Monster.
It seems OP, but I still need to test it myself to see its game-breaking-ness.
I don't think it will really be that bad considering the sentry needs to be destroyed. So at the most you're looking at 4-6 crits with reload on a battle engie, which is not too hard to deal with as long as you don't get shot first.
Plus the sentry is gone and he has to set up a new one and your team can take advantage of the sentry-less-ness.

Re: GitP/ChHa Server Thread IV: For Science. You Monster.
I think the biggest problem that would need to be addressed is when a Defensive Engineer racks up lots of kills on a overly defensive map and his sentry gun gets destroyed. What happens if he decides to just build another one up and continues on? Result would be a well defended Engineer with a level 3 sentry and a shotgun with alot of a garunteed crit shots?

And then the Uber train goes through and kills the sentry and engie anyway.

Re: GitP/ChHa Server Thread IV: For Science. You Monster.
Just sayin that if an engie is getting LOTS of sentry kills on an overly defensive map, Ubers are going to be made anyway.
The Demoman is still a good counter because he doesn't need line-of-sight and putting stickies around means the engie needs to kill the demo fast (probably leaving the stuff for a bit) or shoot the stickies. (can't always get them)
Spies are still the same problem; shouldn't see them coming til the knife's in the back.If you want a OotS style Touhou avatar, send me a request.

Re: GitP/ChHa Server Thread IV: For Science. You Monster.
Oh lawd, this is an offensive engies dream!
Most decent offensive engie sentries get 2-5 kills in a lifetime, so that's 4-10 crits + bonuses. Then they set up again. In a good life, you should be able to make 15 or so kills. This is amazing.

Re: GitP/ChHa Server Thread IV: For Science. You Monster.
Yeah, I don't mind doing gimmick rounds or just messing around, especially late at night or when the server is low on people and only regulars are there. However, there was a certain pub I had to must because, well one, his mic is SUPER loud, and two keeps asking for gimmick rounds in the middle of a full server. Plus the night before that, we had like a 45 minute "gimmick" round. Which, in my opinion, is no longer a round and the class wars idea is super hit or miss...oh wellz.

Re: GitP/ChHa Server Thread IV: For Science. You Monster.
Offensive Engineers are an annoyance. They need the support.
Defensive Engineers are the reason people don't like Capture the Flag, why the song "It's begining to look alot like Dustbowl" was written, why people say "The sentry is down everyone move in now" with such desperation.
It's not that they are over or underpowered, that's an oversimplification. It's that they shape asymmetrical maps more than anything else, people are far more inclined to complain when a map favours the defense more than when it favours the offense, we don't want those complaints to exacerbate.Last edited by Jahkaivah; 2010-07-05 at 09:04 PM.

Re: GitP/ChHa Server Thread IV: For Science. You Monster.
The new shotgun sort of encourages the engie to use it instead of focusing on the base, but I can see why that would be worrying when a professional turtler gets to use it.

Re: GitP/ChHa Server Thread IV: For Science. You Monster.
Wait, no mention of how Golden Wrench #1 dropped for some random player on the server when we were playing Goldrush 3 yesterday?
For one of the most mind-blowing things to happen on the server yet, I was expecting more discussion.
And I crafted a Stainless Pot yesterday... which was totally overshadowed, even though it was one of the hats I wanted most."I don't approve of society, so I try not to participate in it."

Ladies, Gents, Nightclaw.
Golden Wrenches. Craft faster. Go now.
I want all my updates done by the end of this week. This is a unorthodox way to release an update, 25 GWs at a time. Strange, show-boaty and very blunt.
Please, for the love of Djinn, [expletive]ing craft those Golden Wrenches.
Scout: I'M DYIN' HERE!
PS: Nightclaw, good to see you, mate. Just in time for the Update. Play nice, eh?
Writings and ramblings would be here. Get it out of my head, and into yours.
