Re: Naruto Manga thread (Spoilers)
No, Kakashi used the Lightning Cutter. He hasn't used Chidori outside of Kakashi Gaiden.
I fail to see that assertion being supported anywhere.
1. It's what Kakashi uses instead of Chidori.
2. Chidori is an A-rank jutsu, the Lightning Cutter is an S-rank. This not only establishes them as separate techniques, but puts the Lightning Cutter on a higher level than Chidori.

Re: Naruto Manga thread (Spoilers)
There's nothing in the actual Manga supporting the notion that it's any stronger or more precise. If not for a slight change in color only visible in illustrations or anime, it'd be impossible to tell the two apart.
Raikiri is renamed Chidori. If there's more to it, it's not visible in the actual story. My statement of them being "essentially same jutsu" holds true regardless."It's the fate of all things under the sky,
to grow old and wither and die."

Re: Naruto Manga thread (Spoilers)
I agree with frozen feet. The move is introduced as Chidori, and if I recall correctly it was Guy who first mentioned Raikiri and gave the story about Kakashi cutting lightning or somesuch. The whole exchange makes it sound like an alternative name. The usage of Raikiri to mean a more powerful Chidori does seem to be canon, although it is essentially the same technique, just with more power and more refined chakra control. Also note that Sasuke calls all his variants Chidori, even though they are just as effective as Kakashi's Raikiri.

Re: Naruto Manga thread (Spoilers)
That's probably because the Lightning Cutter is a specific variant of Chidori that is essentially the same but better, to the point where it was focused and powerful enough to cut through lightning hence the name.
Like Sasuke's various techniques, it is derived from the Chidori. My only guess is that Sasuke doesn't use the name because he hasn't attempted to refine the Chidori itself, but to create variants to accomplish different things with it, and that he has never attempted to split lightning with any of them.

Re: Naruto Manga thread (Spoilers)
Useful links, but remember that Narutopedia is not definitive.
Agree more or less, and to be honest I'm not sure how this discussion came about. One question though, when Kakashi used his technique on Zabuza, was that Chidori or Lightning Blade?

Re: Naruto Manga thread (Spoilers)
So, at least that explains why no one is using that technique.
BUT THAT DOESN'T EXPLAIN WHY EVERYONE AND THEIR MOTHER KNEW OF IT WITH ALL THE DETAILS MERE FIVE CHAPTERS AGO!
Also, what Jiraya is doing in the ocean?
Also also: man, the Shinobi HQ is way incompetent.
Also x3: Madara is rude. Man, you need more class! Plus, he killed the wrong one, IMHO.
Also x4: Kabuto was supposed to say how to stop it. I hope the answer wasn't: show them teh powar of loveh!
Also x5: Why not resurrect the Sage, then if you went grave-robbing anyway?

Re: Naruto Manga thread (Spoilers)
They did point out it was developed and used by the second, and there was a MAJOR shinobi war at the time with multiple sides vs Konaha, if the second used the technique during the war there would be records of what it was and how to combat it. It isn't an Orochimaru original ninjutsu and runs the risks of any and all jutsu that were developed during warfare and used in quantity, that is that eventually the other side's intel will catch up to what you're doing and learn the counter to the tricks used.

Re: Naruto Manga thread (Spoilers)
Huh, guess Kabuto's mystery corpse isn't the Great Sage. Ah well.
Instead of letting Pain kill him, he managed to drown himself in a body of water. Guess it led to the ocean, or something....I admit, I don't see how they're incompetent.
------------------------
Kabuto's line about needing the woman alive confuses me. Kabuto already produces Orochimaru chakra since he's absorbed the corpse. How would taking whatever sliver of Orochimaru in that woman help him? Can't he just divide some of the cells he already possesses instead?
Also, I wonder. How long can you wait before you can't get a meaningful DNA sample from a corpse? I would imagine Zabuza and others like him should've been too far gone to salvage.
Finally, while I also suspect Kabuto's lying, I can't think of a reason why he'd lie.Last edited by AgentofOdd; 2010-12-10 at 01:39 AM.

Re: Naruto Manga thread (Spoilers)
Because that'd mean Madara had something against him. Or something.
I got the first few parts of that already- I figured the 'soul sealed already' would apply, for instance. The DNA bit, too.
And the reason it needs a living sacrifice is probably quite simple: you can't reanimate a dead corpse.

Re: Naruto Manga thread (Spoilers)
I must say I dislike this 8:2 nonsense with Naruto. It feels like an arbitrary hurdle thrown in his way rather than an organic part of the setting.
Definitely. Even if the Aburame comes back with his bugs, which isn't a sure thing, the Yamanaka has unbelievable synergy with Impure World Resurrection.
I mean, it's simple:
- Fuu uses Mind-Body Switch or Mind-Puppet Switch to take control of an enemy.
- Fuu uses the victim to keep killing enemy ninja until they stop him or he kills himself.
- Fuu regenerates.
- Rinse and repeat.

Re: Naruto Manga thread (Spoilers)
Woohoo, new chapter...
So... basically it is 'Impure world resurrection 101', hu? Okay, some Naruto and Joint Army thrown in for good measure but anyway.
Naruto's training... meh, don't really care. He'll figured it out one way ro the other anyway.
Yay, Anko's alive! (Okay, we knew it but good to have proof) I can't follow Kabuto's reasoning but meh. As long as she'll make it a few more chapters.
And today the readers spokesman is.... MADARA! 'I don't get your jutsu. Explain to me (and the readers)!' Looks way mire complicated than I imagined it... those coffins he used to use were kind of more stylish, IMHO. The DNA part is... well, at least for some people weird. Though, I'm not too secure on the matter of genetic archeology or whatever. But the first seems kind of a stretch... (Must... refrain... from... WMG about Shisui....)
Uhm... yeah... can't wait for Kabuto to backstab Madara and not sure if he is lying (probably, though).
Last words: Ninja radios look hilarious.
