    Pavick's face tightens in frustration as his illusion turns out to be a fairly poor likeness. Still, he knows that now is not the time to roll over a give up. Not for him, not for anyone. He hums a quiet tune of healing for Zyrr as he continues concentrating on the treasure horde now amongst the swarm. Then he casts a familiar spell, sending two ice-cold beams out, one aimed at Oedipus, and the other, amidst the dretches crawling over Eltain.

    Eltain curses as he's pulled in by the swarm, the demons pulling at his hair and armor. He tries to strike back even though he knows his attacks are of little use against the hordes.

    When facing a second inferno, the drow can do nothing but watch it come, his brooch still smoking from its recent use. In an instant, he finds himself in a world of fire, with one of the feared fire elementals bearing down on him, sinking its claws into his shoulder. Zyrr drops, reeking of burning, though it's uncertain whether most of the smell comes from the flour that's been charred off his body. His body makes an odd lurching motion to the beat of Pavick's melody, shuffling slowly away from Oedipus like a starfish.

    Lucan follows it up with another arrow, giving the Monk one more chance to weaken the swarm

    As Zyrr struggles to hold onto life, Shep's anger continues to be his undoing, fortunately, his stoney resolve alows him to ignore the claws and jabs from the swarm. Eltain clears out a few more of the Dretches with a swing of his sword, and manages to pull his way out of the mass.

    Aramil's attack on both Oedipus and the Legion Devil go wide, but he is also able to take out another couple of the Dretches.

    Pavick has a bit more luck, and with a blast of his fingers, he sends a ray of ice into Oedipus and the Swarm, freezing them in place. A quick note later, and Zyrr is once again conscious.

    Oedipus looks down at the Drow he is unable to reach. "Stay down, or I'll see to it you never wake again." Struggling vainly against the ice that has frozen his feet in place, Oedipus gives a roar of frustration, picks up the chair next to him, and hurls it across the room at the Eladrin, but it merely bounces off the table, and lands next to Aramil harmlessly.

    The Legion Devil looks at the mass of demons, snarls, and instead chooses to focus his attacks on the vulnerable assassin. With a wicked grin, he stabs down. (5 damage)

    The swarm, with arms and feet and arms frozen in place, goes into a frenzy, trying to pull Shep inside while attacking Armail and Eltain. Their attempts to pull in Shep fail, thanks to the distracting presence of Aramil. The claws just barely manage to get past Eltain's armor to grab hold of him again (14 damage), but the swordmage is still able to fight off the mass of claws and teeth. The swarm again attempts to pull the Shepherd in, this time succeeding as the Goliath disappears into their midst. (restrained, no LOS or LOE - ongoing 10 damage - save ends)

    "Pavick! Get over here and concentrate fire on the swarm! We need area attacks!" Possibly to emphasize his point, Aramil swing his sword in an arc, again lashing out blades of force in its path. Not wanting to be devoured by the swarm, he takes a quick step to the side to get out of the dretches' reach.

    The Shepherd was calm now. The batting wings and claws surrounded him on all sides tearing at his thick skin, but he did not feel them. The were inconsequential, they existed, and he accepted them, but they did not phase him. Breathing in, the Shepherd discerned that he was breathing in. Breathing out, the Shepherd discerned that he was breathing out. The Shepherd stirred, and he discerned that he stirred, and with a sudden burst of controlled energy, a massive explosion knocked the dretches screaming across the room in piles of stinking bodies. At the very center, the Shepherd stood to his feet, felt the ground beneath his feet, and discerned that he was standing. With a light spring, the Shepherd bounded backwards, his fingers lightly springing against the stone, and landed directly behind the regrouping hellspawn.

    He hurries around the table, reaching a position where his thunderwave will just barely hit the swarm. His fingers dance over the surface of the orb, and he lets loose with an explosive burst of sound that washes over the table and into the edge of the swarm of devils.

    Lucan sings a quick song of healing to Eltain that pulls him out of the way of the swarm, and follows up the song with a note of discord against Oedipus, sending the Dragonborn stumbling back and giving Zyrr an opening to attack.

    Majestic Word - Eltain regains a healing surge + (1d6+5)[6] and slides to M12, breaking the grasp

    In response to Pavick's call, the limp form of the drow literally springs back to its vigorous self, with one action standing and thrusting a palmed knife into the neck of the devil that wouldn't let him smolder in peace. Victorious, Zyrr inhales the air around him and turns to set his reddened eyes on Oedipus. His words come out in a haze of black smoke. "You plan to kill me? The one who made your father's eversleep possible? ....You brattish, thankless mewling wormling. I've been waiting for you to lower your guard against me since a fortnight after you hired me, but it will be so much more satisfying to kill you this way." As the venomous words spill from Zyrr's tongue, the black smoke billows around him and envelops the dragonborn. "A blade in the dark. When you are fully aware of what is coming."

    With a gurgle, the final Legion Devil falls to the ground, Zyrr's dagger protruding from it's neck. The site is only visible for a moment, as the area is suddenly enshrouded in blackness.

    Suddenly, several things happen at once. From the middle of the swarm, the Shepherd emerges in an explosion of Dretch flesh, while on either side of the swarm the swordmage and paladin hack away at the edges of the swarm, and the dretches unfortunate enough to be on the north side of the swarm are blown to pieces by the wizard. The Swarm, barely half the size it was before, regroups, but some of the Dretches abandon the swarm and move off on their own.

    The Dretch swarm, weakened by the beating it took, renews it's attacks against Shep & Aramil. The goliath has learned from past mistakes, but Aramil is grabbed, and pulled inside of the swarm. (12 damage + 10 ongoing & restrained (save ends both)) The drenches that strayed out from the swarm scatter in different directions. One hops up on the table to attack the archer & monk, one moves towards the Paladin, and one towards the Swordmage, only to see him pulled inside the swarm. The last wandering dretch frantically tries to climb back in the chest. Even individually, the smell is almost overwhelming, although none of them come close to injuring you. (OOC: If you take a move/standard action adjacent to a Dretch, take 1 damage, cumulative)

    From within the darkness, you hear a growl from Oedipus "Hide in your shadows, you coward. It's what you do best..." The dragonborn stumbles out of the drow's summoned cloud of darkness, and spies the Paladin moving towards him. "Not who was next on my list, but you'll do, half-breed." he snarls, and charges Eltain, his sword bursting into flame again. (18 damage - marked)

    Aramil throws his cloak around his body as the dretches swarm around him, and as they try to pull him in they find nothing but empty air. He reappears next to Eltain, just in time to see Oedipus's blade cut through his defenses.

    Use Cape of the Mountebank Immediate Reaction to teleport to N12, escaping the grab immediately and negating the 5 aura damage and 10 ongoing damage this turn. The rest of my turn will probably depend on what Shep and Eltain do, possibly Zyrr.

    "Maybe hiding is what I'm best at, but it's not what you hired me for." Unseen by the others, Zyrr yanks out his dagger and draws his kukri once again. The drow bursts from the cloud, the darkness behind him obscuring perception as he approaches. In a flash, the drow is behind the dragonborn, his poisoned blade again seeking draconic flesh. While the poison left on the knife isn't enough to cause any further damage, the assassin's special ingredient is potent enough to leave another linear stinging sensation from its bite.

    Pavick continues concentrating on his illusion, the treasure pile seems to shift beneath the swarm revealing more and more beautiful and valuable objects. He then darts around to to the a point where he can hit those that were drawn by the treasures with another thunderous blast.

    OOC: Because of post order, I did a little bit of tweaking with final movement squares/attack order, but it worked out in y'all's favor

    With a jerk Oedipus lets out a cry of pain as the drow's kukri slides into his back. The Dragonborn turns to face the drow, gasping for air"I warned you once, you should have stayed down!" and he raises his blade. With a *crack* the flat of Eltain's blade comes crashing down on the Dragonborn's skull, sending Oedipus to his knees. "One day, you'll pay for this." Oedipus groans, his eyes locked onto Zyrr one last time, before they roll back into his head, and he collapses in a heap. His breathing is shallow, but he won't be waking up any time soon.

    In a quick flash of coordination, Pavick pulls two of the straggling Dretches in next to the hoard, as he, Shep, and Aramil blast them apart with ease. Caught in the middle of the attacks is the swarm, losing cohesion with every blow.

    The swarm manages to rally again for one last flurry of attacks. Again, they grab hold of the monk, but still don't drag him in (9 damage + grabbed); and while Aramil is able to fend off the first round of attacks, he too is grabbed by the demon swarm. (15 damage)

    Eltain raises an eyebrow at Zyrr. "I was merely trying to rile him to get him to let down his guard. I don't care if you stab people in the back from the shadows as long as you're doing it on our side."

    Eltain moves in to attack the swarm, beginning a cheerful battle hymn. As before, his aim is true, but the dretches move around too much for him to do much damage. However, he is able to channel the energy of his attack through his music to bring aid to one of his injured allies.

    Pavick does some quick mental calculations, making sure his companions would not be in the area blasted by his next spell. Once he's sure they are out of the area, he blasts the swarm again with another thunderwave, but it proves to be a particularly weak and ineffective blast.

    The drow's lips spread into a tricky grin as Rex feels the thump on the top of his head. He silently watches the draconian fall to his knees, but upon hearing the parting vow, the smile vanishes. "I know I will." Zyrr replies as Oedipus slumps to the floor. "We all pay eventually. That's the beauty of death and afterlife. Your payment is now officially overdue." He kicks the dragonborn's sword away and begins tying Rex's wrists together behind his back, leaving the others to deal with the foul dretches.

    (OOC: Using 5 feet of hempen rope. Let me know if a check is needed.)

    Although Shep's attack proves fruitless, the swarm is no match for the Goliath's strength, as the monk breaks free of the grab. Behind him, the assassin whistles to himself merrily, as he ties Oedipus with a small section of rope. Eltain charges forward, and while he doesn't do as much as hoped to decimate the swarm, the swell of music pours life into Aramil, renewing the Eladrin even as Dretches fall at the Paladin's feet.

    An quick shot from Lucan hums with magic as it pierces into the swarm, gives the swordmage the chance to make a quick attack, before the Eladrin has the chance to follow it up with a more brutal attack. Aramil's sword swings forward in a wide burst, tearing through Dretches, and giving the Swordmage the chance he needed to take a step back out of the threat of claws.

    Pavick's aim this time proves a little off, and the Dretches are able to dive out of the way of the blast of thunder.

    From within the swarm, you hear voices. "Kill the Paladin!" "But that wizard is all by himself." "But I want to kill a paladin!" "The paladin isn't alone, and I want to eat the wizard!"

    "Ok, fine, we'll go after the Wizard."

    The swarm shifts away from Eltain, and attacks Pavick with a flurry of claws, trying to pull the wizard inside. The gnome is able to fend off the first round of claws, but the Dretches renew their effort, and grab hold of the wizard. (14 damage - grabbed)

    Zyrr merrily continues his work, shouting the occasional halfhearted encouragement over his shoulder. "Yeah, go team!" "You show them who's allowed on this plane!" "I'm sure the smell will wash out eventually!" Next up on his list of things to do with the prisoner is to pat him down for anything the dragonborn might be hiding on his person. It wouldn't do to go to the trouble of capturing him and leave him with a ring of teleportation.
