ION: Have you ever been preoccupied with the idea of skillet sandwiches? What's the term for those, like, where you take a sandwich, make it, and then let any cheese or such melt by toasting it in the skillet?

I find myself haunted by the idea of a barbecued pork club cheddar melt.

Yes. Is, I believe, based upon a sci-fi book series.

Nope, the Red Dwarf books are based on the TV series. You should all watch it America. It's a British series. The whole eight series ran to about fifty episodes.
I now have a blog. Have a look if you wish. It contains those naughty profanities that you won't find here. If you like what you read send me a PM, or if you don't like it. I'd like to know how many people here read it.

Avatar done by me. If you want one then you clearly have no taste. I'll do one happily. You just have no taste.

Are we inventing another unusual martial art here? Whereby Deities hit people with their worshippers?

No, The TV series came first. Then the creators wrote books based on it.

    Britain - 8 Series = 50 Episodes

    America - 11 Series = 250+

    What?

    What?
Series vary in length. Par exemple, Red Dwarf had 6 episodes in series 1-6, but 8 in series 7 & 8.

Given you used the term series yourself in your last post, I assumed you'd know what I meant.

Yes, over here we use series to refer to what you would call seasons, as well as for the series as a whole.

Lack of clarity occasionally leading to having to explain which you mean, I believe is the obvious rationale for asking.

And of course, the inevitable reply....

    Not at all.

Also, British series tend to be shorter than American ones, which also contributes to the 50 vs. 250 episodes thing.

And yet, some shows reach the 250 mark and still stay awesome.

Besides, if I were to throw one of my two High Priests around I could give him a concussion. Or worse.
The frying pan's rather stereotypical as well, plus it doesn't really match my theme.

Besides, what're you going to do when you can't get hold of a worshipper without warping time and space?

Well, I was thinking about you eating people earlier, so frying pan is more weapon-like than baking pan to me. Plus Thufir's the more interesting option anyway.

I believe it's referred to as having Clerics and Paladins in the D and the D.

Well, M*A*S*H was and will always be an awesome show. My mom turned me onto it when I was 8, and now I finally 'get' it.

And as I understand it, Who shouldn't count (IMO) as the actor playing the Doctor is always changing.

How does that invalidate it? That's like saying James Bond films haven't been James Bond films after Sean Connery left.
They actually stopped being Bond films with Casino Royale. :P

The actor changing is part of the entire character, even part of the characters species and culture. Doctor Who is still the same show the whole time. That's kind of like saying that no shows with shape-shifters can count because the actor is always changing.

A show whose main character changes is not the same show. Get rid of Hawkeye, and M*A*S*H is no longer M*A*S*H. Get rid of Ash and Pokemon is no longer Pokemon. Get rid of Yugi, and Yu-Gi-Oh is no longer Yu-Gi-Oh. Oh, wait.

But it's still the same show. Actors don't define the show.

I suspect some people would say that, so it may not be the best example.

But the character doesn't change. The Doctor is the same man, 907 years old and onto his 11th body but still the same man.

    Except the character isn't changing.

The main character of Doctor Who is and always has been The Doctor.

Same guy, different faces, different personality quirks as well but that's a result of the regenerations in canon.

I think the Doctor being the same man could be a philosophical debate. I've seen it done on Wolverine before.
